Well all modern American presidents have had speech writers. It makes sense that the current American president should have one. He’s had a lot of somewhat damaging criticism about his errors. If he were better prepared and reviewed or practiced his speeches he might have more success. Even I reveiw waht I wirte befor I post it. except "when I write about gramar or, maganizes).

Oh! (I was playing DA 1.5. I have updated to 1.59) I deleted the oreans.customracexml file and started the process over. I can't remember the exact spot in the process. I think Little robot man popped up and warned me that the custom race was invalid and that the game would not count right after I clicked next on the race screen, and before I choose my opponents. He asked if I wanted to proceed and I clicked no (you know the invalid custom race cheat warning thing...right, all clear now, I

If you delete the file listed by Kryo above, The Altarians in your game will be rset to normal, however you will lose the customization. As for the other stuff I'm not sure. Every race you create is saved and available for the computer to pick when you choose random races. Don't worry sooner or later someone will post the solution. KRYO! HELP!

As I spend my employer's valuable time on his valuable equipment reading through these posts, sometimes when I should be working, I think to myself that I am going to get in a heap of trouble if I am ever caught. I prefer to blame my employer. I am on a salary, so I am basically chained to my desk all day, with the privilege to stay as long as I want. My workload is tends to be very light per week, with spurts of too much to do (we could give the Vogons bureaucracy lessons). My "office" is a

Don't judge a book by it's cover! What? It's how I always pick the club books for Oprah (she never complains), the year's Newberry award winners and literature from the maganize rack in the section where the kids can't reach.

Try deleting the .customracexml files in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar to clear any customizations or changes you've made at any point. It didn't work for me. I was able to customize the Altarians and play. I deleted the file for my custom race and started from scratch. I assigned 15 points for race abilities, political party, techs, chose terran style ships, spent all 50 tech points by shifting techs, added my custom portrait and race logo. I got

I could tell who some of the more mature posters were by their courtesy, professionalism, attention to spelling and gramar and the writting style. I had CornhuskerMac, Mumblefratz and slabster pegged. Belanos surprised me. I did not expect that there were so many older players. I always felt that no one else my age or older liked playing computer games. This is funny: "ok, now for the next 4 hours do as I wasn't here and try not to disturb me, exc

I'm 38 and have two boys, 14 and 11 who love video games also. My wife hates video games and is jealous of the computer. I guess she puts up with it because its not sports, drinking or running around. I remember playing arcade games when there were actually little things in the machine, no video. The first game I was really good at was Double Dragon, which, I like to brag, I could finish on one quarter. Next was Gauntlet, I used to put high scores on those machines. I don't like arca

I had this same problem last night. I was able to start a metaverse session as the Altarians. I will delete the file you listed, Kryo, and report. It won't be right away I want to finish the session I am playing first.

When a planet is colonized near you by an AI, buy it from them. But you cant wait too long before they say its become important. Good one. (Makes not for future use) Stop colonizing before the AI stops colonizing. Good one, I've done this, not really on purpose. It works well on some boards. Any ideas or tips? I try to colonize, towards the AI,

Priceless. Welcome aboard, hope you like it here Thank you. I worked hard on it at work. Here's a recruitment poster I made: What do you think? Hmm... Looks like a vintage great war Admiralty recruitment poster. Is that Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz? I hope so, unappealing, but fitting. The

Well I finally figured out what that metaverse button is about and got set up a character set up. I really didn't want to have a one man empire. So after shopping around for an empire I decided to join this one. I like all science fiction and the Hitchhiker's series by Douglas Adams (DA, is that just a coincidence) being one of my favorites. At this time I would like to introduce the Oreans: (Static is seen, but the view screen fails to present an image. The sound of claws applaud

Check out this link to Kryo's Fleetsim WWW Link There's also lots of other good threads on ships and the mathematical formulas used for combat. I have a link to Kryo's Fleetsim on my desk top. I see what the AI is building, use the Fleetsim to rate them to what I'm building, and make adjustments as necessary. The goal is to achieve space superiority. Deny the enemy access to space, leaving him stranded o

I am definitely not a great player. But here's my two cents worth. I play DA on normal mode. Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. Although I always play the game to the (sometimes bitter ) end, I am at the point where I can recognize when I'm in trouble. As you experiment and develop your play style keep the settings as easy and as constant as possible. In the very beginning social product

Here's my wish list: - Another campaign . I would buy it for this alone. - More diplomacy options, such as a reward and punishment procedure for dealing with the AI. They can warn, threaten and encourage, why can't I? Also wouldn't it be great to require they pay you weekly tribute? - A separate ship editor where you could use all races ship designs and create your own basic hulls and accesories (I know there's mods for this, but let's make it official). - Better

You can check where the bonuses and penalties are coming from, on a single planet by holding the mouse over the planet's morale rating. Leave it still over the figure for a second or so and a pop up window will come up. You'll see something like base +improvements -tax -population and so on. You can check your colony manager screen to see morale on all your planets, the average of which is your approval. You can check your popularity, which is how other civ's view and like your c

But I do remember reading that you should avoid trade deficits, that it makes you less popular. I think it was on a quarterly report that described trade. I'll find it and let you know where it was. OK, I found out. I found out this is a lot more complex than I thought. Trade can affect popularity. However the information is not on a quaterly report. I still don't understand the relationship between trade and foreign relations and popularity, b

I have DA. I like playing with minor races. I keep some settings random except leaving one minor race. I play on normal difficulty. I find that most don't do much except give me good worlds to take over. The Scottlingas, when they appear always make a ton of constructors and freighters that zoom purposlessly all over the place, after all their trade routes are used up. I have found playing with one minor race, that if they are conquered another will spring up on an empty star system with d

BTW, what makes you think AI doesn't like trade deficits? I'm at "work" right now, so I can't look it up. Why? There's no connection between the planet a trade good is built on and your revenue from trade. Trade goods aren't really even traded, unless you choose to do so in the diplomacy screen. Sorry it took so long to get back CornhuskerMac. Let me explain myself. I try to focus planets for specific jobs (tech, shipyard, economy, political and trade). I don't like to waste spaces by planting a trade good on a tech world, once they're there you can't

To help me with the trade route bonuses, I look for a pair of somewhat shabby PQ planets that can fall under the sphere of infulence of one economic starbase. I then build every trade good on these two planets and, of course deploy all my freighters from them. As my economy streghthens, I can buy new trade goods as soon as they are available. Since trade routes tend to merge, after I have established all my routes, I can usually put a second starbase on a better location that simultaneously c
