get to work slacker and continue this or I will accept the invitation of that sissie-empire Galactic Stargate Poopers (or some such) to join 'em.

I got some bad news for you. 2229 you will declare war on the Torians just because they want to invade some minor race that lies within your (future) territory. Subsequently the Torians will bribe the Drengin, the Arceans and the Krynn (you must have forgotten about them) to declare war on you. By 2230 you will be extinct....and be the first major race in the galaxy to bite the dust. sorry 'bout that. edit: btw, don't let my comment stop you from continuing your

Hi, this is probably quite a basic question, but on my usual medium maps it didn't bother me too much. Now I'm just playing my very first game on "Huge" and from "annoying" it got to "terrible". I'm just tired of seeing a hundred ships move every turn taking ages to do so. So is there a setting that completly turns off all this animation stuff and simply lets the AIs do what they got to do and move on to the next turn? I just can't believe that it takes a modern PC sev

There is a multitude of things that can be suggested, changed, done better etc etc. I will try with a competly different proposal - based on my own very recent experiences:
I play on a Huge galaxy map with everything abundant and research on normal.
What about trying a medium map and maybe research on slow/very slow and/or common/accassional habitable planets? Why I suggest this is following: So far I *always* played medium (and once small I thi

Spy crashing is (at least for me) completely gone with 1.96 And Alt-tab-crashs can be avoided by not playing fullscreen - which for me is a serious performance-blow though. But if I know I want to switch to and out of GalCiv regulary...I just play in windowed mode and take the slower game-performance as a price I got to pay.

Well, for me the tech trees meant that a game that was boring for me before came real interesting again. esp. the huge difference in buildings you can build at the start, opened the way to completly new tactics one got to use. It also strenghtened the effects of "intelligent tech trading" very much - which is all fine for me. the ground interfaces...well they been weak in either version. for me nothing has improved - but als nothing has gotten worse - there. game-stability

I would like to see 2 things: 1) A more meaningful UP - with ways to influence the decision by diplomacy. eg the topic that will be decided upon will get "published" a month before. Afterwards you can - by diplomacy - try to influence the other AIs in order to vote for a certain outcome. Or some other way, but currently the UP is rubbish imo. Also give it new/more - and harsher - decisions. 2) Spy prices have been discussed earlier. I could imagine that another way works better

Well, I guess in a week or so I can tell you more. I played all-labs once quite a while ago in a relatively easy game...but found it not to be made for me. Well, I am just playing Torians (Obscene, ToA, Huge Galaxy, slow research) for the first time and while I had not planned on this (well, due to the galaxy layout the only "Plan" I had did quite soon evaporate) I decided to switch to all-labs after 1 year. The first year I used to gain lots of techs with Tradegoods/GAs as

Time to bump this. In my most current finished game (ToA, Obscene difficulty) I foud the Torians to hold the 700% research tile....with a bank on it. The only especially odd thing was that they had crammed their planets with research buildings....but right on the 700%-research-tile they had built something else? Even if they had seen the necessity to not build a research building on it when they got the planet (financial strain or something)...there was some event which inc

right, so I started a game as Torians on a Huge map ;P Will see how it goes. As I truly lack up-to-date data for ToA, I was quite puzzled at one point: When I had researched Xeno Ethics and was up to the decision which alignment I should take....I picked "evil" ...as that's what I ought to play due to my Empire. (or which I always wante to play...) I was kind of shocked when I have seen absolutely no techs in the Tech tree afterwards that were specifically for evil

Is this even a Mega-event? I had this once (or people told me it must be this event after I wrote a bug-report ;P ) and iirc it was even an advantage for me, as the AI continued to put Engines into its ships whereas I could completely save the space and use it for more "interesting" stuff.

playing in windowed mode or fullscreen? if you say you never had any issues and you haven't changed anything there it shouldn't be the reason, but for me there is an insane difference between fullscreen (all just fine) and windowed (almost unplayable)

I do use leases very often. For one I use it whenever the total short-term-lease price is smaller or equal than the insta-buy-price. It's totally illogical...but who am I not to use any advantage I can find ;P Sometimes I use leases when I'm in a production "war" for some tradegood I absolutely want to have and I see the AI is producing it too. And last but not least I use them passionately near endgame when I know (or think/hope) the game will be over in 10/20/30 turns

Well, I can assume that this question may be just as hard to answer as the question about the "best race", but what is in your opinion the weakest race in ToA? I think I will want an extra challenge in my next game ... and I wasn't very versatile in my picking of races so far. I can't really stand the Thalans anymore (for now at least), Korath seemed way too easy...so I maybe would like to play the race that is considered "crap" next round.

Well to get such a tile on your homeworld by using Ctrl-N in an immense map would require a damn huge amount of luck ;P Are you guys sure that you have seen every colonizable planet? I mean...it could be on that lvl4 Radioactive world nobody wanted to colonize... Well, guess I'm lucky. I have yet to play a game where I DIDN'T find the 700% production AND 700% research tile eventually. But then as written above, I play usually medium maps with lots of AIs, so I can be guar

Yes, afaicr it's been always like that. In theory it ould stir things a bit up, but in practice it will probably always make the strong ones even stronger and the weak ones still weaker in comparision. Imo the event "impact" could stay as it is, but should be very short duration (like for 1 month only) and not as it is now "for ages"

I think it could be related to a bug of mine I had in a previous version of ToA: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/316956"]Crash due to ship-design[/link] Carielf wrote that reply:
In version 1.96 which is now available, the game does not crash, but your ships may look a little funny since when it can't find the model file, it just starts sticking the ship components on the hull. This problem can occur if you overwrite existing ship designs.<br
I have considered it on multiple occasions (I normally play Obscene, but go Suicidal for Zero Year Wins), but in all fairness, when I'm playing, I'm too obsessed with micromanaging my way to succes (or rather to survival, I find that surviving tends to give me the win) to remember the important events and when they happened. I am also too lazy (ironically) to plough through the event log afterwards to fill in the blanks...
Well, I never went through event logs myself

A correction for the text of Year3, as I can't edit anymore:
Something odd here: There was no way whatsoever to create a war between Terrans and Altarians.
Was supposed to read "Something odd here: There was no way whatsoever to create a war between Terrans and Korx." Terrans were nicely in war with the Altarians, but both Korx and Terrans didnt want to war eachother. No clue why though...
