Remember, the base colony can produce 24 of everything. I have had bank worlds, for instance, where I never built a research building, but built a research coordination center. While that might be less of an increase in TOTAL rp produced at the planet, I still see an increase, and the increased production is only half cost. I don't necessarily do this often, it depends on my cash situation and the tiles on the planet, etc. But it is a workable strategy. The fu

The only thing that has to do with our elections in 2008 is the timetable that the democrats want. All troops out near septemeber of 2008. Just close enough for them to say how they brougt our troops home but not enough time to see the devestaion that will bring. Well, anything to win an election i guess. The devestaion they will blame on bush, and not their continued tactic of run when it doent look good. the same mess but on a larger scale that Somalia was in eve

Marcus, your theory is very interesting. I find it hard to believe that Republicans in the US, besides those few in the administration now, will keep supporting the war for much longer. And it has everything to do with the elections in 2008. I wish I didn't think like this. I would love to believe in a overriding western humanitarianism defining our nations role but sadly the facts seem to belie this. I am not certain whethe

seems a huge mistake to go into my territory to take planets that are rightfully mine.....basically they take the planet in my system, piss me off, I declare war on them, and then take their undefended planets that was in my territory, they then give me free tech on each system of theirs I take. I would of had a serious problem had they not done this. Their weapon tech was significantly better than mine, but giving me free tech, means that when I'm fighting them on their own territory (don't p

I noticed the computer making fusion as one of his first buildings, and I cannot understand the reasoning on building a fusion over a factory...... with a fusion building with 10% more production, and 12 production for your capital, that fusion building has a maintance of 3, but it only helps production 10%, or 1.2 from your capital. I cannot understand the reasoning behind building it first, unless he knows I'm going to take his planets so is intentionally trying to hurt my economy...

I'll usually start with one of the Stardock ships and upgrade it. The class then gets a roman numeral to indicate what version it is. So my first warship is almost always a Defender I class. If I later make a more powerful ship on a small hull, it becomes a Defender II and so on. The numeral makes it easy to see what you've not yet upgraded, or to guage the strength of a particular battle group. If I make several versions of a ship, usually ones

I'm confused what more hulls you're actually making? like more hulls in between tiny, small, medium, and large? like a medium-small, that is half-way between a small and a medium... It doesn't sound that easy to do, not sure how miniaturization comes into play with those xml files, might have to modify more than just one xml.....

there seems to be a memory leak, at least there was for me on the bigger maps, when I started losing play time to crashing before I saved, several turns/hours (I play slow), then I read up on it using the search on "memory", cause I remember reading about this before..... There is a proggie out there called cachemanxp, that I'm using, and thus I haven't gotten a crash since I started using it...... you can also do a search on google or here to track down where to get cachemanxp

I really think fusion reactors aren't that great. I don't understand why the AI would build them first thing....I saw them building them when I was taking over a race, and I think they were trying to sabotage my economy.... if I am correct, fusion reactors give you 10% more economy to the planet, and cost 3 maintance, so if that fusion reactor isn't producing at least at the same level of your factory, then its not worth building them......your better off for higher production to produ

I've had the Peacekeepers and didn't have the problems everyone else has. They only attacked combat ships just as the description said. Tough luck for the minor races inside my empire. And they weren't that great about tracking down enemy ships. Seemed the enemy had to get within a certain range before they were attacked. I was lucky and none of my combat ships were outside. However, since the PKers are so powerful, I had to go for the Influenece victory. As for the Ja

great, I'm going to try this and I'll report, I had a few crashes and was having trouble continuing my metaverse gigantic game at this point, was actually losing turns of game time, hate repeating the same turns over and over......

Or How about the good old Artificer + runemaster combo to build cheap artifacts and break them for 50% more mana than you put into them if you needed it? actually if you added conjurer to artifcer + runemaster, you can make magic items for 50% of their break cost value, effectively with a little mana, you could make magic items to break them to build you up faster to massive magic items, effectively making the best possible magic items in the game and eq

I can understand the value of putting spies on farms before invasion to effectively cripple an enemy, but not sure what morale buildings before invasion would actually do? I haven't tried it, but just thinking about it, doesn't seem like it would help at all, while farms would of any above 6 billion you could easily place a spy or two for one turn to drop their pop, making invasion easier......

I found that I cannot go above 4 spies, I was spending tons of money to get them and found I was actually wasting that money (which I hate, I'm a penny pincher), and I now have up to 90K+ saved. I am playing on gigantic, abundant, normal and am pretty much owning the game....... What I'd do is ratchet up my spending of spies, and seems that if I tried to go over 4 spies I'd get them, but just lose any beyond 4 on the planet they had been put....so seems you cannot go above 4, at least

in the current game I'm playing, most of my money comes from tourism, I have also stockpiled a ton of money, that I just like to have sit around.....spies really wouldn't be much of a concern for me since 1) I can nullify them quickly 2) if I let them sit on tiles wouldn't affect me much since I don't really use huge economics systems as much as spreading out my off-setting costs by putting trade centers ( highest upgrade atm) on most if not every system, at least 1 or two tiles, how can you rea

okay, I think this answers my question, you definitely want to build any capitals you can in build queues from enemy systems you capture, since they don't destroy capitals already built, just cannot have more than 1 in a build queu at a time..... probably rush buying them would be a smart move since then you can build more if you capture systems building them also...........

I found that you can see what your enemies are doing once you have seen their planet, so you can see what they are building on their planet... To find this you can get a quick overview of your colonies on top left, also look at your ships on this screen ( there is a toggle between the two). You can also look at your enemies colonies, and what they are building....both in ships and socials...this pop-up info isn't actually a screen, its like a quarter of the screen....it also tells you

is it possible they started on a warp anomoly and thus got warped over to another area at the start of the game? I'm guessing that is what happened, normally only survey ships can use them, but if they start the game on a square of one?

You can only build one economic, research, and manufacturing capital ( one of each), but I notice in the current game I'm playing that you can capture another civilizations capital and still own the ones you built.... I have done this and noticed in their capital was a manufacturing capital, so now I have at least 2. More importantly, while capturing systems, I have captured a few that are building capitals. This concerns me. If I build them, will they destroy on

I had an issue when I lost 1 bil when I upgraded a troop transport because I got advance troops that holds more, so upgraded the transport ship and when had 1 bil in the ship, went to a max system of 6 bil and lost a bil while grabbing the other bil... system had 6, ship had 1, but landed and lost the bil, total was only 6 bil, so when left had 4 bil on planet and 2 bil on ship...... killing hundreds of billions and billions of people just seems very wrong. I hope you like the dark

I read a little on the forums here about tech wins and made my first metaverse game with some interesting settings. I decided to go with no possible tech win, so even with researching all the tech, supposedly that won't let you win it. ( still shows up as 1% for tech win?). I also made a gigantic (biggest) map playing as the terrans, on normal difficulty...I'm playing DA, and got the dreaded 5 parsec/week rule, so on the largest map posslbe, I cannot win by tech. Also chose the option of no
