this is a sort of general request, it doesn't need to get dealt with immediately, but I just wanted to bring it to attention and maybe discuss it and see, if it leads somewhere. when you hover over a stack of units, like hcs or carriers, you only get one big percentage of shield and hull and that is all. I think this is fairly little information if you want to check on the general health of your units. after all, this is vital if you need to judge how a battle is going and whether you

Mouse over a few (i think its the little one with 5.0 on, bottom right) and click it. Then you can sell metal and crystal to allies! Hope this is actually right? Apollo999
mostly. but I think you don't actually sell to allies per se, but to the market. when someone else buys that resource over the black market, the black market 'stock
I think at present this ability is too irrelevant, and regardless of tweaking will remain so in all but the most bizarre cases. The best fix that I can see would be to twofold: I) implement Psyco567's idea of it preventing a planet from dropping below 1hp; and II) make it cost perhaps twice as much to research, but make it a passive ability, like the jump destabilization ability -- this way all SB's get it and it is no longer a waste of an
as I said in the other thread: the ability could use some loving. denying enemy colonisation is just not worth the cost when compared with the alternatives. 1) the upgrade cost is quite substantial and 2) this is obviously something you'd want on a front line planet, or at least a planet that sees some action. with the limited slots, offensive, defensive and other upgrades are far more atttractive too, so I would see this upgrade having trouble competing with others for the the sparse slots.<
ugh, beats me. I don't there is a way to guarantee. often enough, you even have members of the other team in your system/ side of the map. I never tried it, but: you could start the game, explore the map and if you're not together, save the game. then host the saved game and switch places with the allied ai's (so, occupy your friends former place with an ai and have an ai slot next to you open for other players), so that you are together. no idea whether it works, it might. sr
depends on what you want. play the vanilla for a bit and if you see that you want more defense content, entrenchment is the way to go. I'd even recommend it anyway, though I can't say anything definitive until the final release. it's promising, that's for sure. if you plan on going online, well there is a debate on whether entrenchment makes games longer, but then the devs said there is something to help that. it certainly does change the game a bit and the starbase are unlike anythin
I think a better fix to this problem would be to just have it so auxilarry government can stop the bombing at 1hp so you can keep upgrades and not have to re-colonise. Thats what I thought it did when it said "prevents loss of controll of the planet due to bombing" guess what? I lost contoll, it's just the enemy cannot gain controll, at least change the deceptive description lol
I like that idea. the planet won't give you any
just as kitkun said. as for differences. well, you'll see them yourself, but anyway. advent have numerous, but pretty weaks squads, while vasari only have very very few, but these are very powerful. tec is somewhere in the middle. I have a number in my head for tec fighter hull, it's around 60. but just zoom in and check it out for yourself.
Yes it was 15% dmg bonus but when the other superweapons got their secondary effects (phase stabilizer and max population reduction) it was buffed to 25%. Thats a lot of extra damage output. With a 6% shield mitigation bonus and denial of whatever effects the enemy culture gives them that's a nice defense boost as well. An empire crusher? No. Something that really helps out in a big fight? Oh hell ya...[/qu
the hangar flaks aren't bad and if you plan accordingly, they can easily cover some gauses or even a starbase. what I try to do when I have them is to make sure the battle takes place at the hangars. so I give my fighters a local well order and make sure my other ships don't stray around (depends on the situation of course if that makes sense). that way, the enemy fighters keep taking flak dmg and my own will be able to pwn them. also, don't forget that the vasari version also has a d
I wasnt aware it could have 20 squads which is impressive but is that 4 slots to get that? I think 3? It starts with a few, then upgrades to 6 > 14 > 20 or something like that. And the aux government, when works, will make them fight the starbase. Right now if you upgrade it they can still bomb the planet, so either the description is too confusing or it doesn't work
actually, I think it's 2 (standard
celebrity? chick? gamer? omg, I just had a horrendously twisted idea. 'americas next gamer chick'. I don't think I need to say any more, everyone should pretty much understand what I am driving at. but then ... with the level that tv is currently at, it would probably even count as sophisticated. (I wonder if someone actually does that f.ex. with something like wow. with the player base they have and the freak grade ... might even work)

I'd imagine you don't want to release anything major or friday, because you'd like some time to see if all is ok. not that you release it, close down for weekend and then something gamebreaking turns up and ppl are stranded till monday.
Why not just scuttle the starbase and build a new one? the difference seems minimal, and if you are tearing out all of the upgrades and starting from scratch you may as well (as construction workers know, it is always much cheaper to build from scratch than to rennovate the entire complex) -- maybe this brings us full circle to the logic behind not being able to refurbish a base? ... just a thought.
lol. true act
you brought an interesting point to the now old scuttling argument: when you scuttle upgrades, you do so for all of them or none. maybe get a partial refund, not the point for me. but the point is, there is a price to pay, because once you do that, you start with a vanilla starbase again, which are pretty weak in the even that the front line will change yet again. I'd say I can live with that. not individual component scuttling, but general 'back to basics'.
At best, all it does is force your opponent to build a few more culture stations or lose his planet after about half an hour of bombardment. No, that's at least. It gives a 15% damage bonus to your fleet, and the culture it spreads gives your fleet an additional 6% shield mitigation and takes away the enemy culture bonus. Seriously, before the Kotsura buff it was the best superweapon. Now it's second best, and Nova

It does? I've never understood this ridiculous mentality. The game isn't broken, and it's not changing very much. Effectively the Entrenchment Beta *IS* the final product. All that's left is balance tweaking, which is no different from balance patches
I got one idea for extra vasari anti structure capability: karrastra siege ships double as structure killers, via an alternative mode. basically, they're like starcraft siege tanks. lose movement, but gain powerful, long range attack. this would not be so much out of character, since the assailants already do something comparable. place it a high lvl, something like tech lvl 5 and off you go. after all, the siege ships are horribly expensive and fragile anyway, so I doubt it would be
what I personally find so funny is that they put a nice 'don't mix with alcohol' on their cans, but that's half the use of the stuff here. the other being students and normal people needing to stay up and not resorting to coffee. oh, and people: buy red bull and support my country's economy!
the destabelising phase lines sparked another, possibly more implementable idea for me: next to the standard phase lines, there could be unstable ones, depends on the map. as is, using them would be a risk and the ships travelling inside might get destroyed. however, higher up in the tech tree, there could be a technology that allows to build ... well, a phase stabeliser, a gate. if built on one side, the lane stabelises and is a secure to travel as any other lane. upon destruction of
The weapon and armor upgrades are pretty much required for any kind of frontline Starbase to be effective. So you're really only working with 3 (2 for Vasari) slots for everything else. It's effectively "pick your ability." I'd be more comfortable with 10 myself. Then you could decide what kind of mix of strikecraft/combat abilities/economic abilities you want. It's a pretty tight constraint right now.
pre
