I guess I'm just a little frustrated that some of the oversights (not necessarily bugs, but just things that aren't quite right) are still not corrected: Fleet defense components are all still lumped together under the Terran Alliance tech that provides a similar component, Efficiency Research 2 still not tradeable, and several starbase components still don't have an icon (battle stations in particular), even though some such as the repair component were fixed. I just picked up the beta l

Fair enough, a pitty but I thought things might be tight with christmas. Can we have a release note of some sort. Happy Christmas to you all.
Yep I have it now, no new races in it though but it is the 3D update, what's in it stardoc? What's goin on? Is there a release note?
don't think i'll be posting any more bugs on the forums, I've no idea if Stardock knows about certain bugs or how much they read and act on the posts in this forum. The pinned posts which were giving us beta testers info havn't been updated in weeks. Its very annoying when you post a bug, get no response then 3betas down the line it's still there.
Yes then obviously I think your not suited for taking part in the Beta test, and no I'm not worried are concerned about
I know, I'm in the UK too KingBingo, but I'm aware it's early for them.
e feeling I get about the Korx though is the same feeling I got with the Ferenghi from Star Trek. They are master traders, but their greed for more often clouds their common sense, allowing them to resort to much more "shady", or evil, methods.
Exactly I see them that way too, otherwise why is it made plain in the back story that the Korx are not well trusted or liked. As far as those honouring deals is concerned what is important to them is not honouring the de
Is the ToA Beta update in the schedule still on track for today? With the last two races? I realise it's early in the day for Stardock, just wondered if we can expect it today.
Most of these additions seem like more of the same that we've had before. I was hoping for something new and maybe innovative.
I think that's a very unjust thing to say, certainly the addition of the new tech trees makes playin each race very different indeed, I've been beta testing so I know that's true and that addition alone is more than most other games ever attempt in an expansion pack, how about the complete change to the invasion screen? Terror stars, yes they whe
Just for the record, from TA's Raceconfig.xml: Alignments Terran Alliance: 50 Drengin Empire: 1 Altarian Resistance: 99 Arcean Empire: 50 Torian Confederation: 80 Yor Collective: 25 Dominion of Korx: 1 Drath Legion: 75 <
Yes manufacturing is a weakness of the Torians, but with their morale and population growth it balances out pretty well.
With Respect Lenius, you can't expect Stardoc to support a Beta the way they would a full release. The point of a Beta is to identify bugs, which they will then investigae prioritize and fix. Most games have a single if any public Beta and it's only when the final game comes out you find out if a bug you reported has yet been fixed. Stardoc don't need to respond on the forum to every Beta bug report.
Sorry to disagree DrugoDavidson, but I found that part completely intuative, the bit that got me was that an old version of the ToA beta that doesn't download properly is shown if you don't have pre-release ticked, took me a while to realise why the download wasn't working.
Would it be possible to mod the game so that all techs can be traded? sorry but im a real tech addict. Knowing me id trade a few million of the credits and my entire fleet for the recharging rods for organic life forms XDD ._. wow sometimes I even scare myself
I think so the Tech Editor allows you to mark any te
personally i would like an option to turn off trading of civ specific techs. I hate turning off tech trading completely but I dont like being the drath and being able to trade for things liki "efficiency II" and "xeno slavery".
I think that's a bug in the Beta, many of the racial techs should obviously be marked as non-tradable. I think there was a bug that was stopping that working. Also with the new Tech editor you can make anything you like non-tradable.
unfortunate since I think there is a real game play opportunity here. As it stands the Terror Stars are too weak, too slow and too destructive to have any purpose. But why not make them into an analogue of OUR ultimate terror weapon, the Nuclear ICBM? They are incredibly destructive and very difficult to defend against. Why not give Terror Stars a VERY fast speed? Why make them hard to use? They are at the end of the tech tree anyway, so it doesn't make conventional warfare obsolete. If T
Even cars are made by machines, but I believe that is because machines are cheaper and aren't controlled by a union. Heck I don't even use bank machines.
But of course the robots have to be built, programmed, maintained, have their designs improved to make them more efficient every few years, be ugraded, shipped, esembled. You see they point is they create new jobs too. My job in IT exists only because of mechanisation in the office, the use of computer systems
So think about it. Is it really a good thing that by making the movies that you buy/rent cheaper, people litteraly go out of work? I think it's rather sad. Labor laws and workers needs are being replaced by customer satisfaction, and more profit. (I don't know if this is going on in the U.K. or anywhere else, but it is deffenitly happening here in the USA). So next time you rent a movie from a machine... think about what's
It’s sad in the sort term for those peo
Wow ... this expansion pack is a dream come true. I had a blast with the custom races in Dark Avatar, I am going to have even MORE fun making new techs and tech trees. One question about terror stars .... namely ... I don't get them. You need space superiority to use them (since they are so fragile), and if you have space superiority, why not just invade? Its probably cheaper, and you get new territory as well .... Dano
Your are of course righ
But other than the tech tree what is special about the Yor, Why can't a race just be given a custom tech tree that makes than out to be robots, I guess the only problem is the plague event.
Yes, this should keep us going until GCIII I think with 12 different races that are really different plus the potential to customize with the editors. Can't wait to see what they will do with GCIII though to top GCII. By the way I'm wondering what are the plans for custom races in ToA? Will we be able to assign them any technology tree we want, including one we've made ourselves? Will they still be handicapped compared to the stock races, ie. stock races get c
Yes congratulations, it’s very well deserved for the excellence of the expansion and the first class support it’s been given. I’ve played most of the other games mentioned; Bioshock, Crysis, Orange box and yet at the moment I’m spending all my PC game time playing GC2: ToA Beta, because frankly it’s more fun than those finished games particularly in the long term. So I think we can look forward to a similar win next year, since ToA adds about massively more to the game than DA did and
Just to drive the point home TA is currently a public Beta there are going to be bugs, lots of them the bug you are talking about by the way is I think caused when you have ships with unused movement points I've ocasionaly seen it and had to reload. I'm sure it will be fixed by the time TA is released.
No doubt you guys will have a very good chance at expansion of the year again unless another company manage to pull something truly astounding out of the hat. DA was good but TA just adds and improves so much it’s almost like GC3 has come early. Seriously you guys without a doubt are among the best in the business and certainly the best value. The really amazing thing is how much fun just playing the Beta is despite the bugs which are obviously to be expected in a Beta, I have
Actually General Homsar he said they won't be a playable civilization, minor civs are not playable so they could be back as a minor.
Um...well I'm not sure entertainment centre should logicly since it raises morale for a totally different reason, even though from a game mechanic perspective it would be logical for it to upgrade. Healing Pool is an odd one I think it may be a mistake and it shouldn't be there at all. That part of the tech tree seems a little odd the tech which allows it has a mucked up description as well.
