Verkinix brought up some good points. As a potential purchaser of this program, I'd love to hear back from the developers on this.

I'd like the epic scale battles too. I want powerful magic to use in them too...populous style!
You're telling me that wanting to play a powerful caster sovereign has nothing to do with the game?
THIS is why I actually bought the game. Its called Elemental: War of Magic for a reason. At least, I thought that meant something. Mrbrad, this isn't to take away from your
The vast remaining numbers in the forum *LOVE* the concepts and have great hope that it will turn into the great game it's been hyped to be. But that day isn't today. Nor tomorrow. Perhaps six months down the road, maybe longer.
I'm one of those people and wholeheartedly agree with this. In a big way, Stardock let me down with this release. They'll have to
If you liked Age of Wonders you probably like this one.
I respectfully disagree. I LOVE Age of Wonders because I feel like a powerful wizard when playing it. In its current state, Elemental doesn't come close. I think it will eventually get there but if you're looking for true magic play, I'd stay away for a while longer.
[e digicons][/e] Looking forward to Magic being the crown jewel of this game. I hope it's high on the priority list.
Good review. I got the game because I wanted to feel like the ultimate great and powerful sorcerer...that's what I thought I'd be getting for my money. It's not even close but I'm hoping the game gets there soon. I rarely ever pre-order a game and only did so because I trusted that Stardock would deliver on release day. I think from now on I'll stick to my 'buy it a few months down the road' practice. It's served me well over the years...my soft spot for Sta
I read the article and it comes across to me like the writer is someone who really wanted the game to be as great as it should have been but was let down, like a lot of us. Valid points are made including the recommendation to stay away for right now. I think pulling in the quotes from the forum posts detracted from the quality of the article...However, to dismiss it outright would be un-wise.
If I had it to do over again, I'd wait at least a month longer. I'm coming from the non-beta tester crowd & tend to agree with stoicfaux's comments/research. Super potential + Great company backing it = Great buy...in a little bit.
http://pastebin.ca/1924958 Win7 64 bit ATI 5800 card with Catalyst version 10.7 (just updated it tonight) Happens after Alt tabbing and attempting to return to the game. Commit memory at this time was just under 1 Gig. I found a zip file named: Elemental1_01-2010-08-24T02-06-25-686 in the directory specified but it was 0 k in size so there is no point in posting it. EDIT: I'm also running into an issue where I do
In addition to the above: Please fix scrolling in the text & store inventory boxes. It isn't consistent. When it does work your pointer has to be in a narrow area. I want it to scroll whenever I'm in that 'window' and use the scroll wheel.
The info you added in brackets on the pop up messages is helpful in understanding how to get going in the game. It is night and day from what it was yesterday, nice job! I love the '!' marks...great idea. A couple of things to make the tutorial better: The first time you click on the shield for inventory, have a message that explains how to actually equip items. (If a item is highlighted, its equipped.) I saw that somewhere later on but it needs to come
This pretty much sums up everything perfectly.
Agreed. The videos are nice but don't take the place of a quality tutorial. Anyone who cares to add, this thread is specific feedback on the problem
Its funny that you are asking how to break a treaty...I don't even know how to start one. :)
This is something I have to chime in on as well. The lack of a tutorial is a problem. I too had serious problems figuring out what to do and still don't really understand what I'm doing (I'm playing the Campaign). For example, I didn't know how to plant a city, get food or what to do with the 2 extra guys I had. Janok & the farmer guy. Janok got killed in a battle early on so if I was supposed to learn something from him, I didn't. A quality tutorial eliminat
This will come with the 64 bit version of the game.
I have Win 7 64 bit with an ATI 5870 card. Getting the 'DX - bad call' error message after 'alt - tabbing' and clicking to go back in the game. Was keeping an eye on the Memory commit and saw it go from about 300k initially to 1.3 gigs when I looked right before it crashed. I played about an hour in between the two 'alt - tabs'. Fortunately, I had saved my game so no big lose or anything. Another thing I noticed. There are no magic 'effects' when cast
There's no tutorial stuff beyond what's in the campaign, and the videos that were posted.
Ah, well hopefully they'll add a good tutorial soon.
Also...I starved while I figured that one out.
Cool thanks!
It looks like a tiny shield. You then click on the items not highlighted in green to equip them.
Hey Crux thanks for the help! I clicked on the fertile ground square and was then able to build the farm, thanks. I'm playing the campaign but haven't seen an actual tutorial.
I can't build a hut because there is no food. I bought a turkey leg from the merchant but that doesn't count as food for the city. Will there be a tutorial for the day 0 release or sometime soon after? I'm currently pretty lost but it sure is a neat game. I actually really like the graphics too.

Brad - What program do you use for the screenshots?
