I agree, mock away... Being something of a scoremonger, I think it does take something of an obsessive outlook to spend hundreds of thousands of clicks after you could already have won the game, to keep playing and score higher. Obviously if there wasnt some sort of satisfaction gained we wouldnt do it. So everyone can enjoy this awesome game however they would like, which logically should keep everyone reasonably happy. Play the game as it best suits you and enjoy! :)

I never build scouts. As you say, they are kind of useless. You're better off scouting with ships that other specific uses. I have not had a problem with the settings not being correct, so I cant help you there, and I dont have vanishing starbases either. Sometimes when the turn button disapears, the game is stuck on procssing orders for a certain ship. If that's the case, just hit space-bar to skip that ship's turn and the game turn will process. It is definitely not a game option, and I dont know about a mod for it. Probably ask in the modding section of the forums and someone might know. Sentient species taste better...
