Thanks ClanLindsey & GmOOni. :) I started another game with the same settings, and have played til the 1st quarter of Year 1. With some beneficial events I'll break that 1 million barrier Also, due to budget cuts with the State of Vermont, I'm getting laid-off once more, but I have another job already. It doesnt start for 4-6 weeks though, so I'll have at least a month between jobs to put in some serious GC2 time. :D <a href="http://www.myp

Oh so you think you know what I'm thinking what you're thinking what I'm thinking? Think again oh pretentious one! ;) Sentient species taste better...
Thanks Motti! :) I wonder what the trigger for the pop-growth one might be, or if its completely random. I've had it in virtually every game that's longer than a ZYW. Sentient species taste better...
Congrats Motti! [e digicons][/e] I'm pretty certain I know the basics of how you're doing this, so I expect the competiton has entered a new phase. (again!) Looks like you may have your wish regarding tiny maps SS. :) Sentient sp
Whoops, I misread that post, hehe. ;) The reason for the classic list is that it's on a tiny map, and so the parameters under which you play are significantly different in a number of important ways. Definitely worthy of a separate category for tiny vs gigantic. <span style="font-size: small; col
I fisnished my latest Swindle, my first giga-abundant: I had no econ boom, and no other significant positive random events either, not even the population increasing one which seems to happen every game. With an econ boom, I could have scored well above 1 million. Next time perhaps. :D <img src="http://www
they don't want a new category
As far as I know Sole Soul is one person. [e digicons]XD[/e] I can see it both ways, so I'm abivalent on the matter. For me its the fun of the competition that is the most important! I do agree with SS on one thing....lots of crankiness around here lately. <img src="http://www.mypicshar
That particular event does not reverse itself, unlike the other influence-reducing event. I also suggest a save from a previous game. Sentient species taste better...
With my experimenting tonight, I did figure out a way to increase my ZYW scores by about 5%. Certainly it's not whatever Motti is doing though! [e digicons]XD[/e] I eliminated some possibilities, so I only really have one theory left, which is my original one, and which I alluded to in my previous post. <img src="http://www.mypicshare.com/thumbs/20070803/vqrpalpt.jpg" border="0" alt="Kzinti empire2.JPG"

I've had only mindless busy work to do here this afternoon, so I had some time to think about your score Motti, and I have an idea of what you might have done. If you would answer one question...did the two you've done so far take about 2 or 3x longer to play, than the ZYWs as we've been doing them for the last few months? That will give me an clue if my theory is correct. Thanks. ;) <img src
Hmmm...I was thinking of the other definition, which is the tonsils. :) Sentient species taste better...
Nice job Motti! :D I had a huge all-abundant map where I could have done a ZYW, but I didnt do a score test to see what it would have been. Maybe on my next giga-abundant I'll see what I can get. Sentient species taste better...
Not a real long story, but not super short either. My character is supposed to be evil and the Llama part comes from my natural, common and understandable fear of Llamas. j/k. My wife and I have a running joke about Llamas spitting on you and how evil they are in that regard. Of course, the most evil instrument one can play is Johnny Cash's guitar, hence the avatar. <br
Hehe... :) BTW, why the LlamaMan nom-de guerre? Is that from something, or just completely made-up? Sentient species taste better...
Also remember that the active listing is characters, not members, so active member numbers for both the Kzinti and ToE would be significantly lower. People can have three characters, and some of us like me, Neilo, & Motti have multiple accounts. I think Motti takes the prize with 4 (or 5?) accounts? Not as much as you may think. ;) The Kzinti have been growing as well, but you definitely have caught up a bit. Time to deploy our newest weapon, the Naked Singularity Hairball! Sentient species taste better...
Though he may not have been vocal about it on the GC2 boards, and so you would not know KP, but Piznit was also very involved in the ZYW efforts. Just about to the minute that Wyndstar posted the spark that ignited it all Piznit and myself were hashing out details on the ToE forums. Like i said, you were not to know of course KP but i wouldn't feel right if Piz's name was not also thrown into the ring.
<
I definitely agree. It would have to be a completely different strategy. It took the efforts of many people, Wyndstar (initially), Magnumaniac, MottiKhan, myself, Neilo, and others to get the scores to the point they are now. A bit of history on the ZYW... Initially we always did them on Tiny maps and the upper limit of score was about 40k. It was much more economy focused, and money is a lot more plentiful, due to being able to contact many minor civs. The
I'm 2 years 4 months into my latest Swindle, which is my first on a gigantic map. I havent had any beneficial random events, including the crucial econ boom. Without any events I estimate the game would come in a little over 900k. With an econ boom....it would be a lot higher. :D <span style=
