My my Brad this is an interesting thought. From my personal experiences, if one was to do this you'd have to be aware of the following things: 1. Content releases would have to be meaningful and significant. Too many times in the past have I seen a similar attempt in this area but the "new" content was so insignificant that most people just ignored its existence. I am thinking in regards to the Battlefield 2 booster packs here (I was an avid player back in the day and ha

I remember it being mentioned by someone at Ironclad that one of their goals to do in the future was a better particle effect system. I hope this is realised soon with an expansion, would be great to see Sins battles with more modern effects. ;)

When you purchase a game, you're not only being granted with the ability to play the game (and in Sins case the ability to play using ICO) but also getting post-release support that comes with it (hopefully). Considering that we'll be getting almost the 4th patch soon so soon after release indicates that Sins is very good value for money compared to some other titles. ;)

I think it was smart of Ironclad and Stardock to delay the demo until they nailed the big bugs found after release. Good thinking there. ;) Here's to a successful patch 1.04 and 1.1 release soon!

Wow this is a discovery. It would explain why it only really effects Vasari, and why it seems to happen a little while into the game (about the same time I start using the missile frigates).

TBH I think its unreasonable to expect to see any spectacular visuals with a GeForce 4. You should seriously consider an upgrade if you want to experience this game the way it was intended. I know that Ironclad and Stardock do their best to make sure it runs on a variety of hardware, but there is only so far you can go before you start creating a dated looking game.

New graphics yay! I want to be able to get more out of my new rig with Sins. ;) Keep up the great work Stardock and Ironclad! I look forward to seeing future titles from both parties.

Just posting to confirm this issue also affects me. It always happens if I play Vasari, but not any other race. Both the visuals for the weapon effects and hit effects do not display. Occasionally you may notice a quick display of one weapon effect or two when zoomed in I found. My graphics card is an ATI HD3850 running 8.453.0.0 version drivers.
the 9600 is a better card than the latest ati cards being the 3850/70. just look at some benchmarks and u will think the same thing. costs like 180-200 dollars us.
It only shyly beats the HD3850 in some games, but in a game where both cards are equally supported I've seen the HD3850 actually be the superior card. Considering the HD3850 supports PCI-E 2.0 and Shader Model 4.1 (which the 9600 or any Nvidia card currently out does not), and ATI generally has better

After playing yet another satisfying game of Sins today, a thought hit me in regards to some of the upgrades and technology you research in the game. If you look at the little buttons for the various weapon upgrades and such, you can see that each consequent weapon upgrade looks more visually powerful on the button art. My question is, why doesn't it (as far as I can tell) look more visually impressive in-game as well? Ships with better weapon upgrades should have bigger more power

No campaign is a blessing in disguise. It meant that Sins had more advanced and capable AI for the skirmish mode (not to mention a large collection of scenarios). I think the sacrifice of a campaign game (which most only would really play through once then stick to skirmish) for smart AI is worth it in the long run. I mean look at Company of Heroes. Sure it has a nice and interesting campaign. I finished it (even played through it multiple times). However, when I found the

Anyone else find it a bit strange that you can freely take a neutral planet whenever you feel like it, even though they still have a fleet in orbit around their world? Logic would dictate you'd have to eliminate their space forces before you can conquer their world. I saw a strat tonight where one guy just focused on building Akkans, and rushed them around to systems caputuring planets as he went with the colony ability. He basically disregarded the enemy fleets and went on a c

I've just noticed a strange bug of sorts. On the Radiance battleship of the Advent, the info card for the Detonate Anti-matter ability really slows down the game's FPS while its displaying. This is strange because the other info cards that display for the other abilities on the very same ship do not have any effect on FPS. This is related to the text message FPS slow-down, there is definately a bug somewhere with the text.

There seems to be a bug where the particle effects stop displaying. Occurs randomly, and saving and reloading the game when it occurs seems to fix it. Wouldn't mind that being fixed (if it is an issue with Sins and not hardware). ;)
Sometimes the game will stop drawing certain kinds of particle graphics, such as the bullet-like gunfire from some ships, or the explosions when things are destroyed. I'll be able to zoom in on, say, a group of vasari light frigates, and I can hear them firing and watch their target's HP go down, but I won't see any bullets coming out of the frigates.
I get this also, it just seems to happen randomly. Saving the game then going to
