Mega events are meant to be super nasty and so big as to dominate the game when it takes place. Turn Mega events off in the universe creation options and you'll still have regular DA style pirates, but not the super fleets the Mega events produce.
Just poking in here to say that the screenshots of the two game are actually fairly close in quality and it is very objective. Besides, I don't think the graphics on HOMMV are turned up all the way in that picture, making it an unfair comparison.

That doesn't work for me either. I see only an adobe icon, although I already have that program installed. Some thing in both Explorer and Firefox. Doesn't really matter, I suppose, since I have the full game.
It's a known problem and has been reported before. SD people have promised to fix it in the next patch.

I've seem the gameplay video. It certainly looks like they got the atmosphere right, but my first impression is, how is this Fallout? There didn't seem much left of the orginal gameplay at all. It was a first person shooter with some light RPG elements thrown in, that is all. It would be a good Fallout spinoff perhaps, but not Fallout 3. It's not a "gotcha" so much as the pot calling the kettle black. Obama can run experience or no, and he can make an argument why that doesn't matter (I think it does, but that's a point of legitimate debate) but the moment he attacks someone else for not having enough experience, then that is an issue, and one that he himself started.
The thing is, once you get to the point where you can run for President, you name alone is worth millions and it's not that hard to earn a lot of cash. So in that way, the candidate will not be average in terms of income.
