On the point of specs, I checked the stardock central minimum specs out, and it says a 128 MB graphics card, yet my laptop (onboard intel chipset) ran it perfectly well at high textures. My desktop (Mobility radeon X1600, 128 MB) ate the graphics up at maximum resolution (1600 or something, widescreen) and highest textures. I know what you're talking about here, to me the game feels almost too flat. I understand the issues making combat and planetary movement etc. 3D, but surely it should be possible to just change the heights of the planets in relation to each other. But when you phase jump to another one, you'd stop at the height of the gravity well, same as usual, making combat etc. the same as usual, but adding that 3D element of space into the game by having the actual planet slightly higher than the planet yo

Just wondering, along these lines, are there going to be any of the evnt type things that the galciv games had? Personally, I quite liked those popping up every now and then, it would add to the civilian type of feel. Also, some graphics might be able to be added with it, for instance, that disease one where the boils were a valuable commodity. If you chose to sell them, I'm sure more freighters could be added to trade routes etc. to symbolise (and increase the income in a real way) the trading
