(correct me if I'm wrong) Spec textures add the 'shiny' value to planets, telling them where to be shiny. Bump mapping makes the object look more complex than it really is; such as 2-d mountains looking 3-d from a distance

I gotta say, that's the longest post I've ever seen use only question marks. And I'd love to see a 'Cost' option for research; Small, Normal, and Large. Sometimes I want it to be a risk getting that new ship level, instead of "I'll just need to wait a few more seconds".

The devs tried to make this game playable on as many PCs as possible. So making the calculations on how to make battles more 'tactiful' would increase microing and processor requirements. Both bad.

Prea, he's a troll. He goes around trying to start flame wars (no matter how 'clever' he tries to make it) about how to counter things but doesn't back up his information.
