The only hilarious part is that you're linking to a thread which contains far more constructive discussion than anything I've seen you write on this forum, Sinkillr. In case the above post gets edited mysteriously, I am referring to this link: http://steamcommunity.com/app/204880/discussions/0/616189106731656130/

It seems like this post is a pretty good sum-up of more advanced strategy, except for these tidbits:
Radiance- A damage tank and mana burner early in the game, it later transitions into a fleet killer with Cleansing Brillance
Wasn't Cleansing Brilliance nerfed approximately a million years ago? Also, the Radiance is not very effective as a tank. The main value to a Radiance as far as I know is that it drains enemy antimatter and disables,

But it's probably not worth the programming effort to build in the requisite rating system for players (it'd be too easy to abuse it if it actually did anything).

No. Even as a failure at an April Fool's Joke, no. Sins games can literally last for hours longer than necessary if a player is determined to drag it out. The community has worked pretty hard to instill the culture of quitting once you've lost, and I just sat through a needless hour of crushing every planet of a new player who hadn't learned this yet--and that's less time than it often takes, since it was only a 2v2 and he was not VL. Obviously this is a wish list, but I think some of these suggestions could be simplified to make them easier to implement even in a new game (like Sins 2).
Channel Lock Down Buttons
A simpler solution might be to automatically give the host a different colored font (maybe bold font) in the chat window and/or the power to /kick [name] from the game's chat channels, permanently. I think giving the host the power to block whispers is unnecessary.<br

Sleeper, I don't trust your perception of who is winning, since you have gone AFK against me as "revenge" for not quitting before. The game I'm thinking of is from last August: In a 4v4 game, mostly with new players, you held out until our experienced teammate (Camaro) minidumped and then, while you tried to fight me, our lost player's AI wiped most of your planets. At this point, you decided we should have given up long before and told us you were leaving the game on while

Basinator, I've loaded up your replay. Some of my instincts are going to be distorted because this is original sins and because it's on a slower speed than I'm used to, but I have a bunch of feedback, in the order that I'm noticing things: Even in original sins, the Kol is not a great starting cap. Use the Sova or the Akkan. You can right-click the move button (a green arrow) to set your ships to "All together" This is helpful to

I think the original sins has a "manage files" button in-game for the save files; where they are located will depend on your operating system. If you're running Windows, I think it is in C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Also, keep in mind that a lot of the recent posts on this forum and the guides on steam are specific to the latest expansion, Rebellion, and there have been significant changes to the AI, the game balance, and the game

Sinkillr, which direction is this unbalance? It seems like the Vasari starbase start has a relative advantage (over TEC/Advent LF starts) in at least some early game situations, e.g. suicide position or desert choke points, but a relative disadvantage if they are only 2/3 jumps from an enemy hw or maybe have to do a lot of early civ research for choke points. Also, if the balance could hypothetically be perfected with starbase starts, do you think the "crutch" of a starbase,

I am really enjoying the mod, great work. I have noticed a couple of issues which look like bugs: First, warp inhibitors for each faction do not increase the time it takes for ships to warp out (as implied they should be by the name and research/build description). There is no status description on enemy ships (even when they fly right by the enemy inhibitors or attempt to leave the well from within weapons range of an inhibitor), the time it takes to warp out at the edge o

This may be just wild speculation, but the Orkulus starbase can upgrade to receive longer range weapons. I have noticed that when issued attack orders on a distant target, the Orkulus often seems to sit just outside its attack range for its short and medium range weapons, even before assault upgrades are completed, but within range for the later, longer ranged weapons. (I usually issue move orders instead for this reason, also so that enemy ships cannot run away as quickly.) Maybe

Well sin, I've been in two 5s games that did in the last week, although no VLs had to go mobile to survive. The point of my question is that the games were still somewhat close (the entire team on both sides thought they could win) even by 2 hours.

Pirates could be losing their base(s) to culture--if they lose all bases, they stop spawning raids. If you play against AI (and if it's a 3-4 hour game, that sounds likely) typically the AI will novalith the pirate base(s) first. Also, they might 'decide' the pirate base is a valuable strategic position and throw their entire fleet at it. (I've seen similar behavior targeting non-colonizable gravity wells with resource asteroids.) You might want to count

Sorry if bumping this thread from a couple weeks ago is bad forum etiquette, I haven't found a more active source of replays. I started playing Rebellion right around the time of 1.5, so I haven't had the chance to watch any of the old replays, but I'd like to see how the vets play (Titans and Corvettes still throw me off). Anyone willing to share some new ones that are compatible with the current version of Sins?
