I may fiddle around with some of the basics myself, but after thinking about just what I wanted for a while, I guess I just want something that makes the game much more grand. I've always been a fan of huge fleets, with the massive broadside attack, hundreds of laser beams and missiles streaking around. I want to say something more realistic, but in a space game, how realistic can one really get. Thanks for all the fast responses, and I guess y'all might be right on waiting jus

I love this game, and find myself playing waaay into the night every night, but I've been wondering if there are any mods that could give me more. More ship combat, more lasers, more explosions, all that good stuff. The only thing I'm really worried about is stability with the mod(s) running, and would like for them to be pretty much bug free. So, would y'all mind helping me out by giving me any hints on which mods to download?
I've got a really really basic lappy, like barely 512mb of ram, and a 1.79ghz processor and it runs fine.
ha, 18 turrets? I should hope that takes care of everything. Thanks again for the help.
It's AI at the moment, and while I've been trying to set everything up, it usually doesn't matter since the enemy's planet killers come in 6 to 10ish at a time. Are there any tactics to counter that?
kk, thanks for the help.
If I were to turn on the teams option, and set everyone into a group of two...do you think that would help get everybody to fight everyone else?
I love to play as the Advent, and don't ever really have a problem taking out fleets (when they don't run away) but I can't for the life of me keep a planet safe. I'll take it, post up some defense, and then watch as some planet killers wipe it out. The last game I played, four defense hangers and two beam cannons couldn't keep it safe. Am I supposed to build even more hangers to keep it safe, or waste my fleet cap and just have ships always hang around?
I really love this game, and find myself losing a ton of sleep playing it every night, but I have a few nagging problems/questions that I would love to have answered. First off, I have a ton of AI questions Do they fight each other? I was watching them zip through the phase lanes with my farsight power, and it seemed like they couldn't care less about the each other. And it seems like they loooove to gang up on me whenever I get close. Missions. Am I the only one who gets them?
I don't know if there is another post about this game in here or not, but I really have to say something about this amazing game. Been playing for a week or so, and I'm still in shock about the sheer number of options, and the depth and detail it has. It may not be the prettiest game out, but the mere fact that it's free should make up for that, ya know? If you thought clicking "end turn" for hours on GalCiv was fun, you should give this game a try, because you can play it for just as l
I'm going to have to say that I'm not a fan of the game. While the home city/shipments thing did change things up a bit, the game itself just couldn't keep me hooked. My army could (sometimes) line itself up into a pretty formation before a fight, but they could never hold it during a fight, making the game seem (at least to me) like strats didn't matter, unless it was to have more cannons than the enemy.
Love the awesome squad action. Keep it up.
I was thinking that people would get bored of the thing...are there really any "long term" games out there for it?
makes me want to buy the game even more.
that's what I'm talking about! Sorry to see Jenkins go though.
sucks that the game freaked out like that. I'll take the factory advice, and maybe the thought process as well.
I'm glad I found this one, keep up the great work.
