64 bit is the way to go these days.
64bit have been the way to go for quite a while.. but it have not been mainstream enough and badly supported.. im glad you dont have any problems as it is as you say the future but it will not be a every household thing until some year(s), when we can throw away 32bit completely.. and yes ddr2 is very cheap much cheaper than it have been for ram ever... ddr3 that is the future is not cheap... if you are going the ddr2 way for client r
These test show that after Vista SP1 the performance is equal or even better than XP. I wouldn't be surprised if there are test showing the opposite, though.
Yes with XP sp3 and Vista sp1 there is a close call with xp edgeing out vista.. but vista is much slower on filetransfers except single file filetransfer.. where it is much faster.. unpacking/extracting much slower... but vista will improve while xp probably wont... yet im hoping that win7 will

I dont use the dock but, here is the shortcut to Computer Management %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s And i think vista may be a little sensitive about a thirdpart app launching administrative system tools?? As other options in that menu is not system tools.. like map a drive.. Then again it might be stardock's problem :)
as for daton's comment about reduced performance, i can not agree with that at all. i keep a spare hdd sitting in my rig just for xp. i very seldom boot into xp....maybe twice a month. i think vista outperforms xp a great deal.
The performance in vista for games and software are proven less than in XP.... alot of benchmarks on this and i confirm this doing benchmarks myself. BUT one thing i like about vista is how it handles memory compared to vista i had alot of RAM er

About that dropped 20$ it isnt litter as it has a value litter is by definition something lying around without value. And 20$ is money and found "dropped money"(if its just the bill) is better kept bcus its very hard for anyone to claim/prove previous ownership. And "abondonware" or digital software, i think the problem lies with the law as it have not kept up with the evolution of digital media..
