I'm going to hold my final judgment until after I play 1.04. But it doesn't seem to change the fact that Advent gets annihilated in the first 20mins. Since defense vessel is nerfed and anti light units no longer do 100% dmg to light units. I don't see how its possible for advent to survive a cobalt and lrm. Its actually going to be worse than it was in 1.03. You guys say you were doing testing, not sure if I believe that. Its either that you guys aren't playing the same game or y
It's like going to TheAllAboutFordCarsWebsite.com and they have news articles about bananas mixed in with their articles about Ford cars... well, it is Stardock's perogative, just an unusual one
It's there is a public whose like bananas and ford why not? I think Stardock/Ironclad are communicating enough about the respective games. That's normal they explain what are their other products sometimes, even if you are not interested.

Appparently demigod will run better than supcom for 3 main reasons : -There will be less units on the battlefield -The maps are smaller -They constantly work on the optimisation of the engine.
This troubles my little heart.I used to be a big fan of Gas Powered Games and had a prolonged love affair with Supreme Commander last year (which was released at about the same time as Sins of a Solar Empire, but a year earlier). But GPG's support really disappointed me, within 6 months of the game's release they were pointing towards Forged Alliance when asked if they were to fix the game's economy system or if there would be improvements and patches basically ground to a halt. It was

Excellent, I love GPG and Stardock/Ironclad are 2 of my favourites companies. Seeing how Impulse could help to have some of the best games of the world on one plateform is a fresh "impulse" to the industry. Can't wait for the beta-test of Demigod. :d

I don't think the expansions of the Sims are the best example. A expansion every 6 months for a bathroom and toilets is a bit too much for me. ;p But I completely agree with your analyze : the problem with mini-expansion is the concurrence with the mods (some projects are amazing). A strong expansion don't have this kind of problems because it's adding some new mechanics and technical improvement with the new content we can't have in a mod.

There is another problem with mini-packs : The press. Sins of a solar Empire had good reviews because it was a complete game. The marks(when the sites or magazines decide to review the game) will decrease significantly when you release small packs because even if the price drop (10-15$), this argument is often weak face of the lack of content(if you compare with a normal addon at 30$). I largely prefer the system you used for sins and TA (the preorder allow to play the beta of a big add

And you're completely wrong. There are few things new : the diplomacy system, the shield mitigation, the fighters, the zoom level, the phase lanes, the experimental structures, the cultural and economical network, colony ships... It's not because Sins uses some features of the RTS genre to be more accessible that this is a bad and uninspired game. That's a silly point of view.

An improved AI/pathfinding should be nice for next patches. When you set a move order behind an enemy fleet the ship don't use 3D but the 2D plan. The ennemy ships are pushed by the ship(which is under under fire) instead to pass under/above (and may be disrupt some of the enemies that will have to turn to keep fire).

The way the devs chose the TEC design is pretty coherent for me : they are the more "human" faction, their ships are made of steel (not quicksilver like the advent one). TEC is far from the more "advance" culture in the game : their weapons were really bad when the Vasaris came and they quickly develop this domain in their laboratories(lots of the technologies are some highly advanced weapons we actually have a prototype : gauss cannon, combination of metals...). The Advent are the "more

My wishlist :) : -Single player campaign with co-op and nice cinematics -improvement in graphics(even if it's not necessary it's always nice) -new factions -new units and capital ships for the actual factions -more upgrades for capital ships(maybe with visual results) and levels to experiment -improved diplomacy -more variety in defenses : can be built on planets, another "ultimate" weapon for each faction. -More technologies : add some abilities for existing uni

And what is the equivalent of carriers and flak frigates in Warcraft 3 ? I don't play many hours W3( many more on DOTA) but I don' remember that units have a double life bar (one for the shield the other for the unit itself). Do too much "unconventional" units and "heroes" would break the accessibility of the game. It's enough difficult to see visually the role of an unit in a space RTS : in a fantasy game sorcerers wear dresses and warriors wear armors, in a strategy game like starcraft

I've just updated the TA beta, reinstalled the game and I've found another bug in this trade screen, the buttons used to navigate between civilisation don't work. I play with the latest version of all the games (DA:1.80g.100, TA:0.96[b].005). My system specs are : Geforce 8800GTX (latest drivers) Core2duo E6600 2GB RAM HD : 320GB 7200tpm Motherboard : P5B deluxe Wi Fi OS : Windows XP SP2 I found bizarre that the picture of the minor races were so stretched : So I made a test : I renamed the 393x256 pixel

One suggestion for the Diplomacy screen : add some higher res pictures for the races without movies. If you have time, three pictures for the three kind of comportment : angry, neutral and happy.I think the game will be more beautiful and coherent, and it will be less demanding of resources than making movies for this portraits.

Our Team : Kieuc, Freecry and me Karryle, 3 big fans of the game, translated the complete game in french. It was difficult and long but we are proud to release today the first version of the traduction on the site : http://transgalactique.free.fr/indexsins.html There are certainly some errors in the traduction(this is an unofficial traduction). If you find one, contact us on the forum : <a href="http://trans-galactique.
