In the game I started last night, with Beta 3B I had built a starbase on a military resource. When I loaded the saved game this evening the starbase was still there but the resource was gone. :( Other starbases that I built on other types of resources still had the resources attached.

While talking to a minor race I traded for the race's sole planet, thereby absorbing the race, and when I went out to the minor races diplomacy tab the graphic for the now defunct race was still present on the screen so I clicked on it. Bam! Out to the desktop.

Something has changed in the pathfinding code and not for the better. In beta 3A ships were pretty good at working their way around obstacles but in beta 3B the ships seem to have reverted to an earlier algorithm. Colony ships now go on a straight-line path towards their destination and if another system happens to line on the line between the begin and endpoints then the ship stops in that system and asks whether you want to colonize the system. Warships and Colony ships are

So far I've had 3 crashes to the desktop in beta 3A. This is much better than any of the other beta releases. There was no consistent thread amongst the circumstances of the crashes. Unfortunately SmartException caught none of the crashes and the debug.err file held nothing useful.

Again more information would be nice. This is not a scam, there are quite a few people happily playing the beta of Galactic Civilization. The Drengin Game Manager is the interface that Stardock uses as an interface to install and play the games. What other games? Did you buy a subscription to Drengin Net or just GalCiv? If you bought the full subscription to Drengin and are seeing other games in the interface then you should be able to see GalCiv one you select show all Beta

Umm...a bit more information would be nice. What info have you used and how? Have you installed the DGM? 1. Have you downloaded and installed the Drengin Game Manager? 2. Have you put your serial number in the proper location and hit the button to update your subscription info on the Stardock server? 3. On the Options menu of the Drengin Game Manager have you selected "Show Betas" from the menu? If you have done all of the above and the option to download

I just lost a game in a tiny galaxy and after the Yor conquered my last planet I was dumped to the desktop. No "You Lost" screen, none of the usual game ending status screens and no Metaverse submission. There were also timing issues during the war. When the Yor would conquer one of my planets during the same turn in which I had completed the construction of a planetary improvement I would get the planet management screen popping up when they now owned the planet.

Quite often I find that my initial survey ship becomes my strongest ship. If I were to lose it in battle that would be one thing but having a random event trigger the loss would just piss me off.

Brad said: "But I really want to do it right. Have planetary improvements that let you mine other planets in the star system more effectively." Yeah! That's a feature I'm very much looking forward to.

This is a brand new start with a Beta 3A game. I spent a few minutes looking at the technology file last night to try to determine why Shipyards weren't showing up but there's nothing obvious as there was with the Basic Environment tech in Beta 3. I'll take another look tonight.

The compromise doesn't account for when a race either trades itself out of existence or surrenders to another race. In that case the ships should either disappear or be turned over to the other race. The other issue is that, as I stated in the original message, in this case there weren't any ships listed as being owned by the races in question and yet there they were after the trade was finished.

Since the possiblities in a trade are so varied the color of the deal text is the only real indicator. If it's a multipart deal I normally just keep adding things until the text turns green and then try subtracting things while still trying to keep it green. The value of technology is determined by how long it takes to research. The longer it takes to research the more it's worth in a trade.
