Yes. All three main weapon types have specific defenses available.

The safest route would be to do an uninstall, with the checkbox for removing all save games, etc.. checked. I've had numerous instances during both the beta and gamma tests where an in-place upgrade left lingering weirdness behind. That said...you can always do an in-place upgrade, hope for the best, and if things are wonky do a reinstall.
We'll have to wait for release.
way to build an older/obsolete factory type like basic, regular or enhanced and upgrade on up after that. It's been suggested more than once but according to Cari there's probably not going to be time to add functionality like this for release. Maybe in a post-release add-on.
Battle of the Gods is unplayable at present. Folks at Stardock are thinking about modifying it and perhaps supplying players with a large pile of money to start with.
Some of the things that come immediately to mind are: 1. There are random events that are mitigated or prevented by using espionage. If these events happen they can be very bad news. 2. Getting free technology is never a bad thing. 3. When planning an invasion or a war it definitely helps if you know exactly what tech the enemy has and what kinds of ships and starbases they are building.
The are mostly useless but some of them can come into play during the game as random events cause them to become habitable or as homes for emerging minor races.
In addition to the above you can also edit the game data files.
I've seen that sort of behavior when I started a new game without exiting GC2 completely.
The updated AI will be in the gamma release and that hasn't been released outside of Stardock yet.
Yup. This is one of the documented "issues" with starting a new game without exiting to the desktop.
This is going to be a long post. I had time to play quite a bit of GC2 Beta 5 over the holiday season and I have quite a few notes on things. 1. When starting the game it consistently uses whatever political party you chose the _last_ time you started a game and not whatever party you chose _this_ time. 2. Random event: Polar Ice Caps / Stone-Age Lifeform choices are odd. The "good" choice ge
There is still a lot of "strangeness" that occurs when you start a new game from within an existing game.
The "Battle of the Gods" scenario is currently unplayable. Due to the advanced level of technology the only planetary structures available for building are the most advanced, time consuming, ones available to build. We really need some way to build what might be termed "obsolete" structures. Some way to have the older, less advanced structures available for build but also able to be filtered out of the build list.
We need some way to do this. This problem also makes the "Battle of the Gods" scenario unplayable.
I pick Technologist as a party. It defaulted back to Federalist in game. This is a bug that showed up one or two beta releases past and is still present. No matter what the race or what political party you pick during setup, when the game starts you are "Federalist".
Brad, I encountered the problem with a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra and the patched files fixed the issue for me.
The issue with crashes associated to upgraded ships is a known problem with this beta.
Send your debug.err file, located in the GC2\data directory to [email protected]. Also if you download SmartException from Stardock Central and have it running while playing GC2 it will capture additional crash information. The SmartException crash file will be in the root directory of your drive and should be sent to Stardock. Any additional information you can supply as to exactly what you were doing when the game crashed is also hel
When a new minor race comes in mid-game, then start with all the tech that you have. T Actually it looks like they come in with the tech that all races have researched.
The "Vegans" minor race lives on the planet "Dubhe" (doobie?). The "bhe" is a construct is frequently found in Irish and in Irish Dubhe would be pronounced "Dove".
6. The Terrans started the game as the Tech party but after a save and restore they were now Federalists. This was fixed for 4C but seems to have become "unfixed" for 4D. Okay. I figured out what happened here. No matter what political party you choose during game setup the Terrans end up as Federal
1. autopilot traces on the mini-map aren't updated often enough. Three turns after a ship arrived at it's destination there was still an autopilot track for it on the min-map stretching two sectors. 2. As noted elsewhere the mini-map settings should be saved with the save game and are not. 3. I was the most powerful race (Terrans) had the most planets, the happiest planets, the richest planets, the best military, etc.. and when
Nope. You have to edit Prefs.ini.
I'd add one more: randomize home star system.
