I should have mentioned GIMP. If you're willing to take the trouble to learn a difficult program, it's highly capable and free. Get it here: http://www.freewarefiles.com/The-GIMP_program_13556.html or at http://www.gimp.org/ There are a lot of tutorials for it. </span

Try this one--it's easy to use, is free, and if you want to add text to a .png (the icon image format), it's easy to do. It has texure packs that go with it if you want to try adding clipart as well. It supports layers, masks and image warping. http://www.freewarefiles.com/Imagelys-Picture-Styles_program_27706.html <

There isn't much that can be said to help you bear your grief other than to offer you sympathy. Have a good visit with your father and make the most of it.

I'm not a user of MyColors, so I'm not going to be much help. In theory, it should work with your operating system, and the weather widget should function properly. Some of the older DX widgets will not work anymore due to feed problems, but MyColors themes use a different provider, so it should work. If it was me, I would first try to uninstall it, and reinstall it. When that doesn't work, I use something like CCleaner, select the registry button, and clean the remains after uninstal

There's a lot of things that look better in the new version--the texture on the Start menu is an example. It looks like everything is new. Overall, it makes the new version look sleek and slick compared to the old. (This is one thing that you really can blame skinhit for).

Another great group. I'm glad to see gooberbean28 and Murex especially: gooberbean28, because he led me to some good skins, has been around a long time, and has seen some hard times, and Murex because he's been around awhile as well and is doing some great work. (He might get spoiled though because he did such a great job on the Armageddon graphics).

One of these days you're going to force me to actually use a DX theme if you keep this up. Yeah, I admit it, I love DesktopX, but I only use widgets and docks.

Well, I'm bored to death if you're asking. Anyway, welcome to the world of skinning, where you can customize everything on your desktop. I guess that you've checked out the other programs like IconPackager, DesktopX, CursorFX and so on. If not, click on Gallery and stroll through the different kinds of skins. You might even want to start skinning yourself if you can use Photoshop.

All of your ObjectDesktop software will continue to work after your subscription expires. If you have it archived (through Impulse or Stardock Central), you can restore it all. You used to be able to buy a CD with the versions of the software you own, but I'm not sure if that is still the case. It would be a good idea to back up your archives somewhere else while you are at it.
I am not one for eye candy any way just a nice looking background is all I need so no need for windowsblinds. I hate icons on the desktop so Fences is of no use.
You can hide all your icons that are inside a "fence" by double-clicking on an empty part of your desktop, and make them reappear the same way.

If you mean on a Windows 7 computer, rather than a DVD, it would depend on what kind of skin. If it's a WindowBlinds skin, then you would need the program WindowBlinds from Stardock. There are other skin types such as those for ObjectDock and DesktopX and others that require those programs. Like everyone else, I don't know what your question is, and I'm just guessing.
