To archive, open Impulse, then click on the upper left button with the arrow. A dialog box opens; click on Preferences, and then, in the next box, click on Archive and Install, and your options are available there. It would be a good idea to back up your archives elsewhere if it's true that you won't be able to get old versions once your subscription expires.
I'm wondering if the transparency button is the same as the rollup button found on some skins. It's a handy feature, but if you don't have it, you can go into Settings in WindowBlinds, and select Rollup/Down Window in "Action to take when double clicking (or right clicking) on the title bar". All the window disappears except for the title bar.
By the way, wait until you see what ObjectDesktop can do. Often, you can get matching "skins" for WindowBlinds, system icons (IconPackager), docks, cursors, wallpapers, logons, desktop gadgets like weather widgets and clocks, and others. The level of artwork is simply incredible sometimes. For me, it's a real bargain. Take a journey through the galleries.

Beautiful work, sir. I'm on XP, and I'm sticking with the old version. Some of those logons are great, and you can't do the same with the new version.

Version 1.70 can only apply an image as a logon, as I understand it. It is for Vista and Windows 7 because those operating systems don't allow for customization of the logon screen beyond applying an image. Logon Studio XP has been phased out and is hard to get, so don't lose it. It's not available through Impulse. I'm on XP, and use the old version. If you use Vista or 7, you're stuck with 1.70.

I did a fresh install of 3.44 on a Windows 7 computer with no problems. I tried Pool by pinchecl which reads several drives, and it worked.

I'd recommend trying out the free versions of Stardock skinning programs before you decide to not buy anything. Once you see what your computer looks like when everything is skinned, you may get hooked, as the doctor says. That's what happened to me.
