Bit off subject, but I have some more info on the Dec SDK http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2297BDC9-B5AE-4B8A-B601-EEF54A52867A&displaylang=en Even though the installation wizard says XP Professional is required, I am told XP Home should work just fine. The trouble I am having installing the SDK is unrelated to the fact I am using XP Home, but is caused by a corrupted file--which I'm hoping to get resolved today.

The My Skins / View My Skins page has behaved oddly for me for quite some time. Sometimes I'll look at a persons View My Skins, and the ONLY library available will be the Awaiting Moderation library. This link may display differently as skins become approved, but as I type, it is an example of my first issue: http://dslv.wincustomize.com/MySkins.aspx?ACID=2194654&LibID=-1&p=1&s=10&d=1 Other times I know a person has submissions
Poor Microsoft. They're announcing their final look for an OS that hasn't even been released yet, and most of us are already sick of it! While I like XP just fine, I, for one, can't wait to try out the new stuff. I'll install Vista at least as dual boot, if not main OS, as soon as I am allowed. I always feel I arrived at the XP-Customization party just
I'd hoped to avoid dueling Bible quotations, and hopefully we will. I also appreciate the upfront admission that "[A person] can make [the Bible] say anything by grabbing bits and pieces". But I am more familiar with the subject than you give me credit for. The argument that in the New Testament Jesus trumps anything in the Old Testament only seems to come out when it is convenient. It is convenient to say Jesus doesn't want us killing th
Without intending any offense, I have to say that the argument that morality can only stem from religion is immature and demeaning. To hold this viewpoint one must make certain assumptions about the nature of humanity. First, it must be assumed that man is inherently immoral. That's easy if you're the type that believes in a Garden of Eden and Original Sin, but most of us like to think we are nice people, and our friends and fam
Hmm. I seriously doubt that desktopexchange.com, the site Jafo linked to, has any right to assert copyright over any of those images it offers. From just their main page one can see they would have had to arranged agreements with FOX for The Simpsons rights and the NFL for team logo rights. Here's a link to the Fantastic Four Movie official site. http://www.fantasticfourmovie.com/ If you dig through the Flash, you'll find some wallpapers
Calebrot, that link did not work for me. Here is a link to a page translated from German (by Google) http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dockzone.de%2Fobjecktdock.htm&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools I'm pretty sure "dissolution" == "resolution", which may mean that this docklet only works with apps that change screen resolution, like games. But maybe there is a setting in there to do
A number of posters have tried to use logic as a defense for religious beliefs. While I feel even the examples in this thread are themselves flawed, I would like to point out a couple larger issues with logic and faith. First, semantically--that is, if words mean what the dictionaries say and we all use them with their intended meaning--faith and logic are essentially mutually exclusive. "Faith", in a religous context, is belief despite co
Island Dog, could you link some info on the incident you were referring to? I can't seem to find anything about it. A point often overlooked when discussing these examples of "Christian persecution", especially when the examples are based in reality, is that Christians have the same recourse as everyone else. If a school system suspends a student for wearing a T-Shirt, or reading a book (at the appropriate time--you obviously should

WindowBlinds and IconPackager are definites in my book. I'd also nominate CursorXP. It would be very cool to have a non-desktop theme DesktopX category, but the potential variety of entries would complicate judging...might see some neat widgets out of it though.
From the Secretary of Education's explaination of Religious Freedom in US Public Schools: http://www.ed.gov/Speeches/08-1995/religion.html Schools may not discriminate against private religious expression by students, but must instead give students the same right to engage in religious activity and discussion as they have t

Yay! Happy New Year! Now I am all eager for Vista to ship...just because it means the secret killer Stardock app is not far behind.
You have several options. You could put the text objects on some sort of background. Translucent medium-gray will bring both dark and light wallpapers towards the middle. Also, from the States->Appearance properties tab for your object, you can check the Border Color box bottom left. Click the button to set color. The States->Shadow/Glow tab offers more control than plain font border. Play with settings there, and you can
I found this little hack a while back. http://www.kuhj.com/down/scrpaper.htm It works, but keep in mind many screen savers are CPU intensive. Some screen savers don't work so great with docks and widgets. But many, especially default windows savers, work great.
I'm with Bichur. Nothing beats warm Peanut Butter cookies and cold milk.
Here's a good quick tutorial from CerebroJD: https://www.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?AID=89481 You can usually resize the main object to whatever size, then use that object's new size to find the values for the other objects. Sometimes it is just a matter of making things equal: DesktopX.Object("Ma
Six skins, but looks like two logons aren't showing, and the bootskin doesn't appear in Display options.
What kind of problems did you have with the betas? Since you asked... My problems have been minor, but only because I have not personally liked working with the post 1.65 interface. In fact, aside from adding a shortcut or two, I haven't changed my Bars much at all from their pre-1.99 setu
glitchy fingers Wasn't that a Stones album?
ObjectBar will hold those shortcuts and more --as well as take on the windowblinds skin. It comes along with WB and much more in the Object Desktop package.
The color in palette slot zero will be the color of the prog bar (and on my machine a border around the image on reboot also...). MSPaint, as far as I know, will always put black there, even if you don't really use it. My Bootskin Buddy gadget has some palette editing tools you may find useful for setting slot zero. http://desktopgadgets.com/Vie
Huh. thanks for heads up...interesting...
Sounds pretty strange. Are you giving every object a unique Object ID? (Summary panel). Are there any other objects loaded, particularly meters, if so are they looking for an object which happens to have the same ID as your troublesome text object? I've never experienced this myself, but these are things I would look at if I did.
