Have you tried changing the refresh rate? R-Click Desktop->Properties->Settings->Advanced->Monitor (at least on my system) will bring up a panel where you can change the refresh. This is only a suggestion, if I really had to guess, I'd say your monitor was just wearing out.
I suspect that the widgets have somehow been moved off the viewable area of the screen. This is only a suspicion, as I haven't experienced this myself. Another possibility is that the widgets were closed while invisible, or made invisible and thought lost. If you hit F10 at any point while the widgets were sensitive, they would have hidden themselves. Try loading the widget and hitting F10. Try importing the widget in

When I am looking for info, I'll often include "wiki" in the first search query. I have found most wiki entries to be helpful and interesting. I, and I think most people, are able to distinguish between fact and opinion, so it is usually apparent when someone is abusing the system because of a personal grudge. The veracity of facts is more difficult to be certain of. But most of the better wiki articles contain links to outside sources.

I haven't used the AniUtil, but I'm pretty sure it just creates a single image of the frames from left to right. This is the kind of image that DX uses foranimations anyway. So, what you have is actually a loong image. And when you set the frames in the Animation panel, you are telling DX exactly how many times to chop up that image. Since you have the mouse over set to one frame, DX assumes you just want to show that loong image, it does

If the graphic is one ready for "stretching" you can set borders in the advanced panel, then write a script that will make it grow from 1 pixel to more in the dimension(s) you want. I nearly said this in the State of StarDock thread, but here's just as good.
