There are a two basic things I can tell you that will help allot! Firstly, if the AI’s are stealing all your worlds, you can solve that problem by using a large map then press CNTRL+N to restart your game until you get a small cluster of stars that are separated away from the main clusters. When you start the game, if you encounter a border of some other race, immediately restart and try again. This tactic is the best way of aiding you to play well above your

Afternoon everyone, I got my arse handed to me in the worst way last night (my first game with the AIs set to normal): [Large Galaxy, 5 races, 3 of them on normal AI and one on Intelligent and one on 1 level above normal, 2 Minor races, everything else set on normal including research] Firstly, I never even made it out of the pathetic corner of the galaxy... 3 planets were in my possession (I know, lol) and the game went for close to 250 turns I think...
Hmmm.... "Adding to the complexity sure to arise in a game as large as that comes the knowledge that every one of the 12 factions will have their own unique tech trees for the first time. While some ubiquitous techs like trade will be shared, the tech trees will have technologies that fit each civilization including different types of weapons, engines, and planet improvements. It also means the inclusion of more new unit types that weren't available in previous GalCiv games" I
NeuralTech, if you haven't yet seen this thread, it's a good place to start. It may be a bit more than you are looking for at this stage, but I suspect it will answer some questions that you have: Production bonuses explained will do!! thank you kindly for the link I LOVE this forum! You guys are so polite and helpful, it's making this wonderful software seem that
Manufacturing capitals only affect the world their built on. If you focus on military production, your military production will rise slightly for that world(as far as i know). If you have your military slider on 50%, each world has its military production halved, compared to what you'd have at 100%. 14 MP's becomes 7 MP's at 50%, and so on. AWESOME!!! thank you sir for that explanation!!!
It also sounds like mixing and matching ships isn't a worthwhile practice, for example, pairing a ship with heavy shielding in a fleet with a ship with heavy weaponry. Or, for that matter, fleeting a defenseless ship with an armed escort. I've been wondering this myself as I like mixing and matching, but I wonder if it's worth it....?.... I'm about to go through this: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=421&aid=139395 hopeful
I long for the latest version.... can't wait for this Expansion... hopefully, it'll be no more than $30... I can't see them asking for more than $30 for an expansion.... : K
Guys, that is the MOST crucial thing I'm not getting at this point... the distribution of acrued "points": RP - research points? SP - social points? MP - military points? I see them on my planets, but for instance: when one of my planets has.. say... 14 MPs... how do I know how many of those are being used up in a turn/how many turns when I've got my Military slider all the way to say.. 100? Or... say on that planet, I've got 14 MPs and I've focused on milita
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.... I heart you sir.... I've been saving ALL of mine AND I have that saved game saved as a "template" for future ships/etc.... working for me so far... really sorry to hear that you're having this problem... it takes me forever to make my ships... I spend ALL kinds of time (lol) meticulously making them perfect/etc.
There seems to be a persistent problem with this sort of stuff in GalCiv. Remember when DL came out and the "better" economy buildings would actually lower your bonus? Anyhow, the Secret Police Center and Galactic Resort are impressively pointless. The Galactic Guidebook (which will expensively allow all your ships to survey anomalies a few hundred years after the last anomaly has been explored!) is right up there too. But the overall winner in DA has to be
This is all sound advice! btw: I put MOOrion3 back on the shelf as I walked out of Fry's yesterday... GALCIVII is more than enough for me I realized... I don't need another 4x strat game... this one has me all tied up. Maaaan... guys, a new problem arose for me last night. Go ahead and laugh at my pathetic being: w/comps AIs still on level 2 from the bottom (dunce I think) (on a tiny galaxy): Iconians/Thalans/a custo
I still have 'small' hulled ships... and OUT OF NOWHERE, my custom race opponent (The Judicators, I know...lol. what a cool name ehlol) they "found" some "Ranger" class ship with crazy high ballistic attack rating and SERIOUS armor... OUT OF NOWHERE... and now... my 3 ship "fleets" have no effect on this thing... Look at their weapons. Build fighters that defend against their weapons and fire with weapons they have no defense against.
And I spent most of my treasury on these fighter ships I was building only to have to 'upgrade' all of them as new technologies were coming out (and before I knew it, I lost just about ALL of my treasury). I'm also wondering if there's a simple way to simply "upgrade Defender MK1 - Defender MK2" across the board for every single model of that name... VS. having to click e a c h ship one by one and do the 'upgrade'..?... Get
This leaves me with a large number of planets but very weak. I build the spin control centre and with its x5 boost to perceived military strength A. I can get away with a laughable little military, that seems strong enough to not get attacked. B. All this said, you can get to the same position late game by just invading planets. But I prefer to play the good route. A. Hmmm, are you saying that what kind of military the pl
"you don't play against them the way you'd play against a human player. At highest difficulty settings player can not win playing by the "regular" rules." This makes good sense to me and I hear where you're coming from...it's just in my 'noob' state that I don't see how I'm going to hold much chance against the comp at higher levels.. Maybe when I'm a badass at the game, I'll fully understand. ignorance is bliss <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.g

Hi! I am confused why it is SO difficult to research to the point of being able to make a 'Fertility Clinic'.... Imagine yourself going into south America into deep jungle to some forgotten tribe that still lives almost in stone age. Being mentaliy there, try to convince them to start producing portable computers. ... Now do you have the idea, why ist is so difficult to research to the point of being able
[it] gave me all kinds of satisfaction Is that why they call it a 4x game? I think this game is all about patience. If the advance techs were easy to come by, I would just rush to the Blackhole Generator or Doom Ray each game. I think the sandbox mode is not a bad way t
There are no shortcuts through it. Well, you can always trade for higher techs, and hit the ground running. I've been playing with that off.... after reading about the comp being WAY too proficient at trading, I decided to not give it that advantage.
A. About lower techs "increasing" in time to research: assuming you haven't passed the "threshold", where all your infrastructure is built and you just start piling money in the bank, you have to carefully manage your resources, correct? B. You are probably trying to research when you have a low budget and you reduced your spending, whether overall or for just research. Either way, it is taking longer because you are throwing less money at it per week.
lol I don't understand how anyone can play with the comps AI getting such bonuses... how is it even possible to win if the AI is getting ANY kind of bonus to one of the 3 sections (Research, Mil, Soc) over the player... doesn't seem doable to me. If it never makes an error etc - combined with it making twice as much money... how is it possible? fyi, me = nooooob
Hey, that makes sense to me. Please don't think I'm loathing the game, am simply expressing my ignorance and how said ignorance is bugging me : ) I'm in love with this 4x strat so much, that I'm going to go buy Masters of Orion 3 at Fry's today for $10. I'll be playing GalCiv II until part 3 surfaces : ) I'm hooked and THANK YOU, guys for walking me through SO much of this. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should simply play through both campaigns to 'learn' the game.
A. Well, advanced techs take a while to research because... they are advanced. If you choose to work your way down one tree you will suffer in other areas. That's your choice. B. 1. Remember, you can help supplement your population by using your ability points to increase pop growth, 2. keep your morale at 100% (double population growth), and you can also use colony ships or troop transports to ferry population around 3. (ie. take pop from a highly populated
(fyi) - when I CAPITALIZE a word, I'm not "yelling"... simply trying to focus attention on said word... don't like bolding everything : ) fyi Good morning, It is my understanding that the tech tree is supposed to be flexible in that it gives the user "the choice to go any direction" one wants to go from the starting of the game until the end.... I am confused why it is SO difficult to research to the point of being able to make a 'Fertility Clinic'.... if I decid
Old habits die hard. I tend to live and die by the keyboard in my job, so that tends to also be my first response...I wasn't in such a rush to resolve that a couple of days was a big deal at the time, and I kind of figured a response e-mail would show up sooner or later. Last, but not least, it never occurred to me to use the phone! So much for me being a master strategist! <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_7 src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" onload=Image
