Frogboy made a post stating that Havok was being a little ridiculous with their demands of compensation for 64-bit programming, but later he said there would be a 64-bit version, but it may not be available at release. I'm looking for these posts, but they were in random threads and not anything specific to the issue.

I don't see that city building as complicated at all. Things are a bit cumbersome, but it's not hard to figure out what you need to do. Also, the devs have said they DO NOT want cities to snake in all kinds of directions to accumulate resources, which is why they introduced the pioneer unit to secure resources outside your cities' reach. I think all that needs to be changed is the available city space vs food vs housing. That along with making cities look less blocky would go

Well, I got a match and played my first turn...then the game froze [e digicons]X([/e] Happened after I had clicked to end my turn and waited a little bit. Could have happened when the other player ended their turn, from my uneducated point of view.

Right here Raven. Since you're just starting a new game, all you have to do is move the contents into a new folder and start the .exe, though you're pretty smart and shouldn't have any issues starting the game, just figuring out what to do after that. LOL. I had a hell of a time just figuring out how to dig a tunnel the fist time I played.

Raven, I too can't play with the ASCII without my eyes bleeding, so I play using Mayday's graphics pack and it makes everything into 2d sprites. Or at least almost everything, there's a little ASCII still there, but not much. Here's a screen shot for comparison. EDIT: NM, the picture won't show up no matter what I do, so here's a direct link. http://img8.imageshack.us/f/52363393.jpg/ <

It's been a little while since I played DF(since right after the release of DF2010) but I'd love to get in on this. I'm not really that good, but I understand enough to not get us killed unless a ridiculous raid or monster shows up. Then I'll make sure we die a horrendously funny death that emanates fun.

I thought Stardock had made it pretty clear that adding stuff like this is a breeze compared to programming the editors and the game engine. I think Brad said they could add a spell or building in 6 hours, while making an editor or significant game engine changes takes more like 6 months.
As for the definition of purpose, I think its sort of important. Otherwise you start thinking that there is all some destiny and that we MUST breed ourselves into extinction because breeding is our purpose. The only people we need to satisfy is ourselves, there isn't some external hall monitor telling us where to go and what to do, so what we choose as our purpose is really important.
It's a semantics argument.
I agree, but if they didn't DO it, they wouldn't be alive. So its not like its some additional trait added on after the fact to give us a reason for them, for why they do the things they do. Its just what they ARE already, independent of what we may think of it. Life is essentially defined by the ability to reproduce. Of course the line between it and fire is pretty narrow. There are other traits but reproduction is the

Everything life does is to survive. Grass is green so that is can survive, thus survival is is purpose. If grass were red it would have harder time getting energy from the sun, but it's purpose is to survive, so it's green. Purpose explains why things do what they do. Life does things to survive, thus that is it's purpose. Purpose does not require rational thought. All it requires is is external forces. Asteriods have no intended 'purpose', they were left around for no reason
