Lately it seems like Wincustomize places a higher emphasis on applications associated with Stardock rather than skins (and wallpapers for example) found within Wincustomize's library. Not that it's a bad idea at all--to be sure, both Stardock and this site can benefit with providing a free, large library of skins and walls--good bragging material for their commercial products which support these free skins. Observing this, some of us ask where does Stardock get these skins? Their users, who

I'm posting my comments concerning Wincustomize's justification of moderation in the message board because the don't have much of a place here, meanwhile... I will say two things here: 1) It is a shame that the VOLENTEER moderators are being flamed, trashed, and threatened for their critical thoughts on the submitted wallpapers, and 2) the 3000 walls on Wincustomize are very impressive, as the vast majority of visitors and users will agree, and they certainly appreciate the aut
thought I'd ask once more before I drop the topic and work on another theme instead... :/ Oh yea, lets not forget... GO BUCS!!!
Anymore ideas from the crowd at all?
Hi, thanks for the suggestions, however nothing has worked quite yet. I did try looking at Frogboy's themes and objects and I did not come across the effect I need. I noticed one of his called, "April Stuff" the developer suite, but it doesn't work either (actually DX claims it is corrupted and won't load it). I also tried to hunt around the DX section in clocks, misc objects and themes with no avail. I did go into DXtoys, but that's a little beyond me, though i definately didn't notice any s
Hi, i'm in the middle of creating a new DesktopX theme but I've encountered a problem that would make this theme impossible to create if it can't be resolved. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Here's the effect I'm trying to create: I want to have many graphical objects to interact with and be controlled by the present time. For example: when it is 6:00AM I want to have one object become a
Damn, should have read a little more carefully... I Have to own object desktop in order to try the new alpha. Shouldn't have got my hopes up, because until DX2 rolls out I'll have to put up with DX1.x's frustrating limitations. Maybe by the time I get back from vacation in February a trial version *might* be available... Arfgh, well there's my 2 cents about it.
Lord love us... It's finally here! Commencing download!
So far I'm happy with the dock, it really shows how far along re-creating the OSX experience has come. There is one thing I am wondering about though: Is there any way to physically move the location of the dock so it is not completely centered on the screan? The reason I ask is because I have a DesktopX theme I've been working on, and the dock doesn't complement the particular design yet. More important
http://www.geocities.com/chunk_9999/project/help1.jpg The effect that I'm trying to achieve is producing text-based help messages while the users mouses-over other DX objects. This effect is NOT an animation, but rather a change of states from one to another depending on the event. In order to create that effect, I need to have about 25 objects that have many dozen states each, that change the values of the graphical letters depending on the mouse over. For example, if t
In DesktopX, I am trying to create an image that has over 70 states. However, DesktopX doesn't like me having more than 30 and every time I get an image over 30 it encounters errors and crashes automatically. So my problem is that DX consistantly crashes on me when I add many image states to one object... My question: Is it possible to have an image with over 30 states, or do I have to have 3 images with up to 30 states on each? What I'm trying to do is call up certain letters on mouse-over,
"So Nintendo licensed Object Desktop Lite [from Stardock] which includes WindowBlinds + IconPackager + WinStyles integrated together," then hired on Pixtudio to create a Gamecube themed suite. My Question: Is it possible for a developer, like myself, to license the rights sell skins/suites commercially? Commercially, as in the form of a package that contains DesktopX objects/themes on cd that customers could install on their PCs along with Stardock's individual or combined component
I'm actually waiting for DesktopX 4 myself.
Looks like things went through alright, I guess changing the name helped. Thanks.
Well, I just uploaded it again incase it didn't go through before. Maybe it had something to do with how it was previously named. Now it is named, "Sidebar." I updated my email address as well 'cause my old one was being slammed with e-crap. Anyway, here's hoping.
So when skins, themes, objects, etc. get rejected by the admin, do they give an email or priveate message explaining why, or not? I submitted an object that didn't make it into the archives, so obviously it didn't pass the test. That's fine with me-I use it I like it-though I would be helpful for developers to know what needs to be fixed or nix'd in future versions. Oh well, I've got something that will blow users away... soon enough... oh yes... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/

I agree, I have WindowFX maxed out as well, and it looks nice. All the effects are accelerated and it looks and feels great. I'm running: AMD XP 1600+ ATI Radeon 64MB SDR (7200 equilivant) 256MB DDR RAM For WindowFX and other types of 2D acceleration I would recommend a Radeon over a Geforce video card because, to me, ATI cards seem to out-perform the competition in terms of faster/prettier 2D graphics. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif"
Hmm, well you might be right. However, the name of the file is "Sidebar V1.2" but the filename is "sidebarv12" and the screenshot is simply named "screenshot." I think the system would get confused if the filename had the . but i don't knw about the name... I guess I'll let the sytem run its way but maybe Jafo may have some insight.
I just re-uploaded the object again a moment ago. The object's name is "Sidebar V1.2" and should be in the library now. I submitted it last around Sept 26th, but it's there again to stand up to the competition. Thanks, eh.
Alright, fair enough. Let me know either way, okay. I'd like to offer Sidebar to the whole 3 dozen people if the wincustomize.com bigwigs approve.
I’ve been working with DesktopX for a couple of months now and I’ve completed a new object that I think is rather useful. Here’s the scoop. Last month I took some vacation time to Southern California where all I had to work with was a Mac installed with OS 8.6. So, when I came back from my vacation I was really looking forward to working with Windows again, but I found that there was one component of the Mac system that I found personally appealing, the Control Strip. Maybe it’s
Thanks, I'll remember that for future objects. I've been working on a Mac control strip lately and I have one ready now. Your tip will come in handy later on for sure.
