Its a huge waste of fuel to stop and then have to move again, apart from making yourself an easy target, you then have to use more fuel accelerating again. Things moving in space are very hard to hit especially at distance, in ww2 i remember ships speeding up and slowing down at random to avoid being easy targets for primitive torps. Now if weapons were more advanced... i.e. all had auto tracking and could not be scrambled or fooled, we could sit their and assume we would get hit anyway

once again good support from Blair. Remember the scene in Star Wars in Return of the jedi where the star destroyers are told not to attack. You see a whole fleet arrayed in all their vastness. I guess this is similar to what I imagine a static space ship line would be like. I cannot wait to see the full release as I am sure it all looks great now, with the fleet manager and other options in. I'll stop talking now and actually refresh my memory....

unfortuneatly the guy spinning the camera and the bomber moving through the formation is what give the sense of movement here But it does look cool I did not say I hated it, just that its not ideal to have ships full stop in a nice line. I have not played a game in a while now actually. Will have to go play beta4 to refresh my memory

blair do you think that ships would "all stop" in space to fight? Or so you think battle lines would cross? Then their is the honour harrington series where their is a battle line style stand off, and its hard to even see the enemy ships. I need to go think about whether I would tell my fleet to fire thrusters and come to a full stop to engage or not. BTW: Battles usually are a chaotic mess. Its the truth! ;) But seriously, it just does not look right. In homeworld

ThunderNipples, I agree with your COH and constant action point. I play COH and DOW regularly online with friends, we often beat the AI together on expert/insane. Its a real rush to balance the constant action with strategy and planning/building. At the moment I would say that I cannot comment on sins in this way. BETA4 does not have much of the AI in... so I don't know how challenging it will be. One thing that would have been cool, like in DOW and COH, is to have units look different w

I meant "rotating turrets" will be considered in an addon by the devs. They were in the original build but have been removed due to CPU and time considerations. Orange box means what exactly, is that the HL2 thing?

I think you can do it, by hving massive gravity wells at all planets pretty much. It would make things very slow without relative physics to speed ships along though. This kind of physics is no longer in the game?

You made the right decision if you like both RTS and 4X This does a very good job of combining both. However it is BETA with a lot more features to come, especially on the 4X side. So when you download the beta4 just make sure you treat it like that. Having said this BETA4 is pretty fun to play still..... it does need the missing features to make sure it has longevity though. I know I have not regretted it, everybody I have showed it too has been impressed.

Not that I am pushing. Just wondering whether we are going to get a surprise in the chrissy sack? Anyway, the more people I show this game to the more are becoming fans, can't wait for more features... Somebody had to ask ;)

its confirmed you can name ships, this from Blair in another thread "Already implemented. We are naming our planets and capitalships in our current internal version so you will be able to do it when Sins ships in February" Now all we need is a better fleet painting\badging system and were set for a long time.
