^I really marvel at how some users of Stardock forums are statistically very likely to go around plastering convoluted wall of text consisting of pure guess-work.:p
The UI in GalCiv II is pretty dated, GalCiv III has a really good tool tip system that gives you a lot of helpful information.
I always thought the Galciv 2 UI to be very solid. The thing I find most "Dated"

Personally I definitely prefer the numbers to have units of measurements beside them, It really help knowing immediately what you are looking at when you are gazing at a screen full of numbers. Please at least keep it as an option in the display settings or something, I do not mind if they are Off by default, as long as they can be turned back on. I suppose this is a bit what happened when Microsoft decided to hide file type extensions by default. "Bah this is jus

I emphasize with your feelings of apprehension about the Elemental (the game that shall not be named) experience and how it might be repeated with the GalCiv3 roll-out. I am MaxWar ( I eventually converted from Evil, but I dared not ask StarDock to change my name for something as Petty as Ethical alignment.) Been Playing 4x, Strategy games since dear childhood; Civilization, Colonization, Master or Magic were the holy trinity of my initiation to those games. Been playing GalCiv since GalCiv 1 on windows. While I liked GalCiv1, I never thought it to be particularly extraordinary. But then GalCiv2 + expansion turnout out to be my all time favou
Here is an exemple of how Dual production queue is a great feature. "Oh noes! The Evil Drengin just DOW on me and are coming with legions of ships. I need to shift to military production to counter them." This scenario happened to me in my current galciv2 game. With dual production queue, I just adjusted the sliders. I put the social production to 5% and concentrated on research and ship building. It took 2 sec to do as most of my planets are already build
I was playing GalCiv2 the other day and it struck me again just how fun this game is. The mature version ( with all the patches and expansions ) of GalCiv2 really is a little Gem. I have yet to play another space 4x that feels so rich. I would say the main flaw of GalCiv2 is that it is not perfect. Can GalCiv3 really be better? StarDock will have to work pretty hard to beat that [e digicons][/e]
I also liked the dual production queue and the production focus feature and everything in Galciv 2. It sets the game appart from most other 4x. But I guess It might be argued that it is a lot of micromanagement for not much real strategic value. Still, I am quite comfortable with the dual queue/slider system and it makes the game feel more "organic" and less like, say, a board game or something. But ill save judgment for later too ;)
Streamlining and complexity are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I consider the GalCiv 2 UI to be fairly streamlined, it allows the game to be played non tediously at a decent pace, ( i.e you dont need to spend 10 min/turn even in late game ) Yet the gameplay is not streamlined as in there are many valid strategic options at most given time. Unlike most other contemporary space 4x ( Endless space/SOTS etc ), where it seems all you do is plow forward. I really like GalCiv 2

Since GalCiv is a humorous game, I consider the star name Trololo
I also throw in my vote in favor of the humorous content. It is something I always liked About GalCiv. The humor is part of the game now. I say keep going with the Margarita approach. Is there a way to activate the Tech reports when trading techs in GalCiv2? I am missing on all the reports because I trade techs too much.
Ah sorry yes, you are right. I had not checked at that place, only in the spy list, which is incomplete. They must have gotten it by trading with someone else.
You are right, I have never thought about checking in their stats directly but its there. They seem to have Native toxic world colonization. Maybe after polluting the earth for centuries it became a toxic wold itself and humans adapted to it. [e digicons]XD[/e] On a side note, they also have aquatic colonization bonus. And once again it does not seem that they have the tech. Yet I cannot trade it to them. Strange.
I just came across what looks like a frustrating bug or maybe just one more blatant example of how the AI is allowed to cheat on you at higher difficulty level. Terran just ninja'd some of my planets. I have high level espionage on them and know all their tech and they DO NOT have Toxic atmosphere reductor. Yet they colonize the toxic planets. If I research it, I can even trade it to them, proof they do not have the tech. This is very annoying to me :(
Super breeder is totally op xD
Blork! "Should always be pronounced with the ! " Edit: Or maybe Gusto , one of my favourite english word.
That's it Stardock, you sold me a 100$ pre-order :p GalCiv2 is one of my all time favourite game so I am very excited about GalCiv3 I Just downloaded all the music tracks and gotta tell you this might be the best music a Stardock Game ever had. GalCiv2 had pleasant and fitting music. FA was honestly a bit bland and generic but now this music has much more personality. Or maybe it just fits my tastes better ;) Music has always been a big factor of imm
Ahh, the OS/2 icon editor. We had OS/2 at home when I was a kid and the 9 years old myself would make custom icons for all his games. Good memories.
Meet Zack ( fictive name ), Elemental's most notorious spy and saboteur. Zack is about to meet an ending worthy of the greatest heroes. Alone, facing full armies bound on his destruction. Over the course of his mission he earned the deep hatred of the Capitar Nati
I am playing my first game with this mod. I am playing huge map with 7 AI, expert level. So far I am on par with most discovered AI but Capitar is ridiculously strong. While everyone is in 150-200 power rating range, capitar is 475 XD I refused His request for tribute, lets see when he gets bored of my face. In the meantime i am killing wildlife for ridiculous amount of XP, I never had my heros level up so fast. I also just updated to latest vers

I just cant seem to find any thing about this class that is fun. What classes (BESIDES Mage) do you find fun to play with? Assassin is also fun but you do not get the fun of donning Champion armor later in game. Thoughts? Heh, there's only the
Defender is a tank/support mostly, you have to play them as such. A defender will not be used to win battles themselves but they will save your other hero's butts and allow your regular unit to stay on the battlefield longer. Here are some examples of how I like to use a defender: I really like the Guard ability. I just put a row of tree units in front of the defender and cast guard on all 3. On some battles it can make a huge difference by allowing
Tried all variants and here is my verdict. Medium: MUCH better than default. But still slightly faint on some terrain type with the Outlines Off High: Perfect to use with other outline removed. This is what I will use from now on. Very high. Needlessly high contrast for visibility purpose but some people might enjoy the look. Thanks again, Glad this issue is fixed from my game!
Thanks! Got it working now! Silly me, I had forgot to remove the High in the filename, I only removed the fake extension at the end. I will try all 3 and tell you which I prefer. Thanks a lot. Here, both you and crastiloo get a Karma.
thanks for getting back to me :) I tried installing it exactly as you described, restarted the game after checking the "use mods" option and it does not seem to change anything. Edit: I tried with the high contrast version only, I will try with the other one just in case. Here are pictures of what it looks like: ( with the other outline option ON ) And now with the Othe
