All, my computer was annihiliated by a virus this week. I don't know what, if anything, will be recoverable - right in the middle of a promising game, to add insult to injury. I've had to send it off for repairs and don't know when it will be back; may have to sit this round out. Sorry, fellow Crusaders! If I get it back in time to finish that game or start a new one, I will let you know immediately!

You have to create your custom race first as an opponent - or open it in the opponent window after you've created it - and edit the alignment. It's the only thing you're not able to do normally in the custom race window. To create my good-aligned custom race the Herans, for example, I created my custom race, used the Save button, then used the Back button to go back to the Race Selection window, selected one of the canned races, went all the way to the Select Opponent window, selected m
Well, it's pretty hard to follow that act... I won't have time for another go, though, so here's my submission.
As Willy said, the most important thing about the JK is that you don't have to take their planets to win a military victory. They're a minor civ. If they strike in the early middle game, it can actually be a blessing because you can take their planets easily and gets tons of other races' planets that way, then make peace for all of the JK's techs and some more planets. But, if you're just not willing to play after getting this event, simply reload from one of your earlier saves or autosaves. You
I was about to say the same thing - the knowledge that fighting through to the end will net me a sweet metaverse score is about all that keeps me going through the endgame. That, plus the knowledge that my teammates are counting on me, because I also play in the [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/157225"]Metaverse League[/link]. If you find yourself needing a reason to play out your games, check it out.
I find that it hurts the AI a whole lot worse than it hits the player. Mostly because the AI immediately forgets that it once owned those planets. It will eventually go to war with the JK, but only after a long itme, giving the player a chance to recoup his/her own planets plus any others that seem attractive. I once got a PQ 26 manufacturing capital fully built-out with ICs that way. Plus, the JK are always totally broke, they will never come back at you. And once you've been at war with
Ending date? Midnight on last day of the month?lol, no...this is that round that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my friend...some idiot, started playing it, not knowing what it was, and now we are all still playing, forever, just because.....
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave? I had to go pretty far back in the metaverse threads, but I finally found the real Team C banner. Here she is...
New member for Round 9 - I just wanted to find the team banner, sorry if this is necroposting...
OK, team C picks Defcon13.
Thanks, FireBender! When will you PM us the forum password? Team C - didn't there used to be a cool-looking team banner graphic? With like a helmet and stars and stuff? I can't find any posts using it now.
I'm in :D
I'm gonna have to vote for the Bat Pole.
Not much to brag about, but it was a fun game (thank goodness the terrans forgot to bring transports when they attacked...), and since the bonus round was partly my idea, I couldn't let it go without trying.
in a direction where I can continue this on by playing games and posting ARR's
I've heard of AARs; I think ARRs must be pirate stories...
How about a bouns round - same random setup as usual, but the round is optional, and players who do post a score add that score to their team's round 8 total?
Apologies to all for taking so long to complete and post. My home computer has been fried and under repair for over two weeks, and I can't even get to the forum from work. This was a hasty game, and unfortunately no time to do over. Well, there's always next round...
My crappy submission. I can't bear to try these settings again. Tech victory is about as rewarding as the condescending looks you get when you're the only one who is bitter about something.
/farkers will know where I'm going with this...
...while realife threw wrench after wrench at me...
PJ, what did you do, join a Dodgeball team? :D Thanks for all of your hard work, neilo - you can be proud of your role in getting this Spruce Goose of a league airborne. I know it's really for coaches, but here's a virtual cooler of Gatorade down your back! :SURPRISED: I hope we hear back from the various candidates soon - I can't wait to vote. I must admit that I am much more excited for this vote t
This has happened to me ona couple of different builds. A solution that I found in another post, which helped me, was to click the "Find" button when this happens. Whenever the turn seems to "hang", I try this; so far I have always seen one of my ships selected, so I performed an action with it, then the turn progressed normally.
I'm no captain, but welcome Wyndstar! If you don't hear from Marshall soon, pm me for the core forum password. Thanks for the clarification, neilo! Now if only there were a way to combine 0-year games with really high scores...
Here's a for real submission. I tried to figure out whether date of submission to the forum made any difference toward bonus point calculations - I have to admit that the hundreds of posts on the subject made me a little dizzy. Still, I don't think I can really beat that score in the first year of a game, so here it is:
Typo alarm, again.
I kind of like the idea of canon fodder :) I mean, think about it, these bugs have been sent on a one-way trip back through time to sacrifice themselves for their beliefs. If those beliefs have anything to do with bug religion, 'canon' fodder is perfect!
I've had this happen a few times. I think it comes from a survey ship going through a wormhole and ending up on a space with an anomaly. It can't 'get' the anomaly, and it won't move away. They trap monkeys like this in India with an orange in a jar - the monkey can't get the orange out with its paw, but it won't drop the orange even when people come to grab it.
Thanks, guys - coming from a couple of veterans like yourselves, that is quite a compliment. That was actually my first Metaverse submission ever, though I had started a non-MVL game prior to that (which I'm now trying to finish before the next round starts...). I've been playing normal games (is that sandbox?) for months, but finally succumbed to Metaverse envy and decided to give it a try.
