A hex sector, is X number of hexes out from the center in all six directions, the result is a hex shaped sector, not circle, or square.
If you start an "immense" map you have 22x22 sectors. But I think this map size came with Twilight of the Arnor. Can anyone confirm that?
Yes, immense was only in twilight.
teasers or info would be welcome.
Currently a hex sector, has a 12 hex radius, so there are 397 hexes per sector, which is a bit larger than a 16x16 GC2 sector. The smallest galaxy is currently 7 sectors. The largest we will leave as a surprise, for later. These values are all set out in data, that modders will have access to later, which should be fun. That said this is something we will be tweaking for quite a while
You can use Template ship designs and skip straight to Equip mode, where all components are functional. There will also be a Design mode, where you can design ships based on existing hulls, or even build them from scratch. We Very much want to make sure players do not feel overwhelmed by the ship designer, or feel they have to custom design every ship they use. That said, for those of you who want go crazy, will be able to do amazing things.
Someone had to say it.
So am I right in thinking that instead of the hull and extras system there is a module system? I have probably described that horribly but you get my point
There will still be "Hulls", they are needed as the primary stat holder, capacity, hit points, etc. The big difference is the hulls will be built using components, we will include many base hulls per race, but ship design aficionados will actually be able to create there
Are you telling me there will be no more Margaritas :(
In fact, Cari was on GC3 and helped us get the new engine going, before she left us to have a life. ;) She is still here in spirit, and sometimes on skype, when i have a hard core GC2 question.
I am loving this thread. First off, as the designer, this is perhaps my biggest challenge. Keeping the soul of Galactic Civilizations II, but making it better sexier, and feel new. I can't really roll out a big list of what has chang
I think you are safe. ;)
This is all good stuff, i started another post on Events in general, please check it out, all feedback welcome.
In reading responses to the post on my Gameranx Interview i was surprised to see the one thing that got people talking was my comments on Random Events. Which got me thinking, this is something people feel strongly about. GC2 Events, and Mega Events, in particular are something players either love or hate, I have read countless post where people praise them for keeping the game interesting, and many more were people claim they break the game comp
I will admit the "Mega Events" in GC2 could be quite a kick in the head. Which is one of the reasons we had an option to turn them off. Events are something players love and hate, sometimes both at the same time. We have some ideas on how to push that more to the love side in GC3. Thanks for the feedback.
And they are sick o
Strange. How can the Snathi become a major race when in every game I played, I wiped them out?
And they are getting sick of it. ;)
I have my own dark plans for the Snathi. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Great Stuff, we have some new great stuff up our sleeves, more details to come. ;)
Resolution will not be limited on the the game side, if your video card can push 4k you will be good to go. The UI will have several scale modes to make sure it stays crisp and clean even on crazy Retina like displays, we want to make sure the game is as future proof as possible.
Nice, makes me happy.
S_Generic_Medium_08 S_Generic_Medium_03 S_Chasms_medium_05
These are all fixed and will be in next patch. :)
The Map of Elemental is not in the current build, as it is larger then a Large map, I am hoping to update it to FE standards and get it out in a future build or DLC, 4 or the stock maps are derived from the world map however. The Eastern Continent is the large map, Curgen's Domain. The Tiny Scarps' Veil, is the area Altar is founded, The Small Karrazan's Fist is the area that is the home to Kraxis, and Yithril, the medium map The Bay of Capacea is a the center slic
Yes that is correct. You might make sure your mouse is set to defaults.
I love that people are modding the UI already, one of the best aspects of the Dxpack system is how simple it is to make changes like this. Evan simple scripting is supported.
You can get new assets in with anything that will export to Havok, i believe there are several free ways to do this, you might need a dill from us, but we will make sure its available. I am hoping to do a few tutorial videos on using the tile designer and the map editor, once the game is out the door, you will be shocked what you can do with just the stuff in the game already. I am on a regular basis, and i am the primary tile designer ;)
* add fertility overlay. I spammed some magic outposts and long after that I realized that they covers some fertile ground. Now you need to have pioneers and scroll whole map with cursor over the Settle button.
In the terrain window, the icon is a check box, you can toggle it on and off there and see the land numbers full time.
;) the super secret is that the font is missing some characters, and has some special ones that were not used. Most of that was done buy the graphics people and they were not quite as familiar with the font and how it is meant to be used, so mistakes were made. Needless to say it kind of hard to spell check when the are unique characters for sh, th, ss, ect. Still its cool that you guys took the time to figure out what it said, we
