I just want to expand on Draginol's pain. I knew him at the time he had that job and there is something that he also left out. If I remember correctly he came up with a programmactical suggestion on how to improve the process, which they implemented and his boss took the credit for it. He may have even programmed it himself but I don't remember.

Hi galentek, Yes these forums are home grown. However, if you know any scripting language and SQL you should not have much trouble and making your own message board. And since your asking the question you must be considering setting up your own site. Just curious, what are you planning?

Fix, I agree with you that I do not support war. I feel that there are many different ways we could go about combatting terrorism. War just happens to be the most popular one. However, I do have to say that at least the US is tactfully chosing its targets to minimize civilian casualties.

Ok BoXXi. You have made a good point. I will change the auto rating for JourneyMan to be 6 instead of 5. When I first put this in I had tried a rating of 7, thinking the same as you, that as Journeyman we should expect high quality. But after a bit of time I felt that it was too high and decided to just go the middle of the road to be on the safe side. But now that I have seen it both ways it appears that a rating of 6 will probably work the best.

No, we really have no plans on adding a screen saver section. However, for those skin authors who are producing skins suites for multiple applications, I highly suggest that you package your skins with Convergence. And if you have a screen saver that goes with your suite it also can be package within Covergence.

Boxxi, The reason is probably filtering. WinCustomize is intended to be a Skinning site, but unfortunately we tend to get more wallpaper submissions over skins themselves. Because of this, the newest sections box was becoming overrun by wallpapers. So we have a filter on their to only show wallpapers that are rated higher than 5 (I believe that is the number). That is probably why your wallpaper did not show up in the newest additions.

I ran a Commodore 64 BBS back in my high school days. Actually thats how Frogboy and I met. Started out on a 300 baud modem. It was actually scary, in the BBS program there was a little text box window that displayed all the data coming through. At 300 baud you could actually read the text as it was being transmitted.

Some of our slowdown's have been to problems, but we think we have taken care of those. But anything over the last two days has been in regards to moving the server. Were still have quite a bit of shuffling to do and we will try our best to minimize down time.

WinCustomize and Stardock will be switching internet providors. The move will help decrease bandwidth costs and hopefully speed up the site as we will be on one of UUNets major backbones. However, there is a price to pay. To switch providors we physically have to move our servers. Over the past couple days we have been in the process of consolidating servers so we can free up servers to send over to UUnet. Unfortunately this process has caused some downtimes and slowness.
