That UI is nice.

That's the kind of apologist clap trap that infuriates so many Americans. Oh I see, so trade disputes make the murders of thousands of innocents a reasonable action? Come on. Besides Osama Bin Laden and his ilk had never suffered one iotoa due to the west.
We shall see. But living to 120 years is a lot different than what this discussion is about which is whether we can, through technology, slow or reverse the aging process.
I just tried Mozilla and it is indeed much better with that than with IE. Which is ironic.
I think whether you want to draw the line at 4000 years ago or 6000 years ago is immaterial. The point is that specialization as we know it is a relatively new thing.
In what way is Rush a hypocrite? Because he got addicted to pain medication? Have you ever had a back injury? It's amazing how some people will put Rush in the same boat as people who do crack. No one who gets addicted to crack can say "Oh, this is an illegal drug?"
Good post but you don't resolve the basic problem: Over half the population pays hardly any of the tax burden but, because they're the majority, get to decide what is done with taxes. You want to talk about a minority without a vote? How about the top 10% who basically have no say about how tax money is spent even though they're the ones paying almost all of it? There is a basic contradiction to your position. You say that people shouldn't have their rights at the mer
A loyalty? To people who make a profit stealing things? Why not just use Kazaa and then it's totally free. You're still stealing except in this case you're paying a service to make stealing even easier.
Right now JoeUser just strikes me as being really slow. At first, I thought it was all the database stuff. But now, the home page is done at an HTM and it's still slow for me. The Joeuser header bar at the top shows up and sometimes it stalls on me there and I have to hit refresh. Seems CSS may not be so wonderful after all. Is anyone else running into this?
Meistro - I suspect there is piracy going on there. There are places in Russia that sell Object Desktop for less than $1 too.
I've now added us to Blog Street. ;) What I like about Blog Street is 1) It's a really good idea and 2) It really let's you see just how many blogs are out there.
"Oh we're getting quite close to cracking the secret to immortality" So we hear anyway from scientists who are exploring the secrets of anti-aging. Basically there are a handful of theories on what causes aging and how we might stop it. One of the more promising ones is gene therapy. Through gene therapy we can restore our tissues to the healthy adult level and hence delay or completely stop the onset of old age. I have a number of books around here that talk
That's the point: The "massive software program" is half the attraction. I don't want to wade through some website. I also don't appreciate being forced to create an account just to look at the prices. Convenience matters a lot to people. I somehow doubt that the typical new popular song is a nickel on this site (not legally anyway). How much, for example, does "White Flag" by "Dido" cost on that site? I found it there but there was no price tag. But let's say it's 50 cents
I don't think I agree with you. First, there is simply no substitute for built in integration with the media player. Second, allofmp3.com defaults to Russian for goodness sakes. 99 cents for a song is not a barrier to entry. Third, iTunes is really fast and comes with a very sleak interface that makes checking out tunes fun. There are only two ways you can possibly challenge iTunes: 1) Build music purchasing into Media Player with similar ease of us
For fun, last night I started putting together my own iTunes like desktop. I used Object Desktop . Object Desktop is a suite of several programs that allow you to totally customize Windows. There were 4 programs from Object Desktop that I used together to create this not counting ObjectDock (at the very top). <img
Abe, you and I are from different planets, clearly. I don't even know how to respond to your statement that you've never heard Europeans argue that the reason they won't make use of GM foods is due to wanting to be cautious over jumping into it. I suggest doing some reading on the subject as this is the most common argument given.
Good grief. If a country of what? 15 million people? Can control the government of the United States than more power to them. Where do I sign up? Sheesh.
Sigh.. Abe, look -- Some people argue that Europeans are just cautious about jumping onto the technology bandwagon. But history has shown that isn't the case by their quick and high level adoption of nuclear power. Hence, I think there are other factors more in the front than caution.
Apple is going to get rich off of iTunes on Windows. Let me just start with that. I downloaded iTunes for Windows. I've used it on my Mac for awhile and it's basically identical on the PC to its Mac incarnation. And it makes sampling of music, purchasing, and downloading so seamless at such a reasonable price that excuse for pirating music is gone. This makes it so easy and convenient that people will be buying music in vast numbers. It's a win-win situation that I
GM crops and organic crops shouldn't be classified that way. Organic crops are merely crops that don't use pesticide or herbicide. ALL crops are already genetically modified. It's just the method in which it's occurred has changed. Just remember - oranges, lemons, corn, apples, and plenty of other crops are not natural. They are the result of human intervention.
Abe: My point is that being being cautious might be the right thing but it is ultimately going to cost them big time in the long run because GM food is the future of farming whether they want to accept that or not. And I don't buy caution as being the real reason. I think politics is the real reason. LIke I said, this is from the continent with the most nuclear power plants per square mile than any other continent.
Today there is a report in the UK concerning the largest test on genetically modified crops done so far there. The "results" show that genetically modified crop fields have fewer butterflies and bees in them than the non-genetically modified ones. Their conclusion: GM foods scare off "good" insects like bees and butterflies. Europe has a "Thing" about Genetically modified foods. They would argue that they are being cautionary. This, from a continent that boasts the most nu
So who's the bigger hypocrite? Rush Limbaugh for repeated condemnation for those people who become addicted to crack, heroine, and other illegal drugs. Or Members of the left who have preached compassion, understanding, and forgiveness as the answer to everything who demand now that Limbaugh should go to jail for his addiction to prescription pain medication?
Abe - I don't agree with the Front Line report because Bush advocated prescription drug coverage during his campaign. I also disagree with you that ideologies are unimportant but I'll write about that as its own article.
Rush could go to prison? Did you hear his reasoning behind it? The man has 2 ruptured disks and a spinal injury. In a world where hollywood stars go into rehab constantly for cocaine and heroine it's incredibly disengenous to equate the two. Rush got addicted to a prescribed medication. The people he has condemned (rightly so) intentionally got addicted to things they knew were illegal from day 1. There's a big difference in that. What excuse does a heroine addict or crack a
