I am downloading this right now. ver 0.99[rc].016 rc stands for release candidate, right? Is this the final or just a pre-release-version? Thanks to 10MB/sec down in my new home and a fast server it may be there quite fast ;)

Damn timeshift ^^ it is 1 pm here now - couldn`t the employees of Stardock stand up a bit more early??? ;-) *just kidding*
I am german and i had to order the US Version, because there is no german version of Dark Avatar/the Gold edition (at least in stores). I heard Galactic Civilizations II was very poorly localized in the german version. But i like english more in games, but i can not really explain why. ;) You can download a translation Mod made by the community for the Dark Avatar Expansion. The poor internationality of the game may be the cause why nobody here knows it ^^ Its awesome and imho the
4. I think so but I should let someone else answer. There are a lot of camera options.
Just chose "Free Cam" , hold the middle mouse button to rotate in any direction, release and use the mousewheel to zoom in/out. I believe the arrow keys do move the cam in space. 7. I think there is no way. ^^ Damn, yes it is addictive. And it does not get boring with time it gets better and better when you develop a feel for the options you have to improve your game success.
I would really like to have a time counter telling me, how long my game lasted in real time - not only in fictional game weeks or years.
Because there are no plans for a retail box yet. Just remember, a retail version swallows budget a lot and GalCivII is only a niche game played by a selected community (at least TotA will be)- the budget TotA got is spent better on polishment of the product rather than on having it stand in a Wal-Mart rack.
Just as interesting as a species' physical evolution is an individual's intellectual evolution. Check out the link to the article below and let me know what you think.WWW Link
It is a good article - but it has not really to do with individual evolution (i would rather call it "development", it has nothing to do with evolutionary processes; in fact the term individual evolution ist senseless, because the definition of evolution implies the existence of progeny) of intelli

GalCivII is complex, not in the detail (spendings are distributed by only 3 sliders, spying is just clicking on buildings and disabling them) but in the whole. The big complexity of the game is to get the mass of factors right to make a good game. At the beginning it seems al
Maybe it has already been stated enough here - anyone, who never played KOTOR I should try and play through. I barely remember any game which storyline gave me goosebumps like KOTOR did. Damn. It really was better than the new SW movies! ;D
We need to be able to spy on a certain area; technology, military, government, economy etc.. and each of them will either give us a success or failure. I'll leave it to you people what success could mean and what failure means. Any ideas?
Yeah, i really would appreciate more depth in spying. I rarely use spying because its just boring - u click on a building, disable it and next turns the spy will be nullified and you have to do this again. Especially in later game phases
So it seemingly just was bad luck i got a declaration of war shortly after the civ nullified my spies - thanks.
Does anyone here know, if spying a civilization does mean a malus to the relationship towards this civ? I do assume it could be this way but i do not know for sure. The game gives no feedback whether the spy was identified being yours by the other civ so i really dont know if spying affects diplomacy rating.
evolution isn't actual organisms changing, it is organisms having mutations, and the others dying out
Do you know the translation of the latin word "mutatio"? Obviously you do not. Evolution is not organisms dying out, it is differences in reproductive potential competing defined by Darwin as "biological fitness". regarding my statement above: I do not consider the definition of evolution as a religious topic.
I saw the "religious topics" sticky. Please do not continue this creationism vs darwinism discussion here, as it seems there is not (yet) a problem. If you have one i point towards the joeuser forum like the mods did. I have the opinion this discussion is mainly useless because many of the participants are incapable of argumenting correctly.
That sucks. Hopefully the MV will be improved with the release, it is not good, that you get penalized for posting a game result. I would prefer the MV be like the Altmeta
I heard a biologist once talk about something called irreducible complexity- the idea that a body part, such as the eye in humans and animals, is so complex that were even a single, small part of it to be taken away it would be rendered entirely useless. It makes me wonder how something like that could evolve. No mutation ever witnessed has yielded such complex and successful results, nor could it have evolved slowly, considering that the parts the species would slowly be gaining througho
EDIT: It seems I'm being a bit of a hypocrite - first I implore you not to get into a debate about ID and evolution, and then I jump right into it. Please feel free to ignore me.
I can`t. ;-D I can fully respect if one wants to believe in ID. If you want to believe in god you can do - no problem with that. Me as a scientist will never be able to disprove the existence of a creator - as well as creationists cannot prove the opposite. Belief is a thing beyond logi
Does anyone know, how TA will interact with the current metaverse rankings? Will i be able to combine my scores of DA with those of TA in the future? Will tournament scores be handled separately from normal MV games? Or do i have to start a whole new TA character?
I do not know what you expect to hear. Mispelling in line xyz that made the game crash when clicking on an empty transport? Very interesting... I do not think there was a bug that caused the game to state "you are stupid!" and giving you eyecancer with flashing colors so i really cant imagine an "interesting bug".
Actually that is just a model. I am biologist and i can tell you, the reality is quite more complex than described by Hardy-Weinberg. Mendel just got lucky when he first discovered a fully dominant-recessive heredity in peas. To be exact one has to say that this is only a kind of exception, many heredities are more complex than one attribute dominating phenotypically completely over another. But this is the simplest model to describe evolution in a mathematical way and to prove, that it is exist
What kind of a box does the trifecta edition come in?
Just be apreciative that the budget is spent for quality and not for a piece of printed cardboard.
"You only get one chance". People can forgive, even forget, a pushed-up release date. But people NEVER forget a game that sucked because it kept crashing on their system. Years, or even just months later, someone may say "they've patched it up pretty well"; But that won't matter
You are absolutely right. And if you just do REALLY bad, you also get a hommage in another game like Driv3r in GTA San Andreas: Quote from Sweet: "Damn, Reflections never got this fi
I actually wonder what will be added in the final in comparison to the beta - some features are obvious like campaign, editors and Metaverse compatibility. But on the other hand the game yet looks quite finished in the beta...
Is there really going to be a ridiculously large galaxy size?Immense? Or is there another, larger sandbox coming? :O
A galaxy size larger than "immense"? I dont think so. That would have to be called "realistic" ;)
That is exactly what i wrote somwhere else here. The flags just make the battle too abstract, you have not the feedback you would want from a battle. Those toysoldiers did that job better...
