Any experienced TW fan will tell you that the tactical AI is the number one problem of those games...it is extremely tricky and can singlehandedly destroy all the hardwork put into the rest of the game...if SD can pull it off, more power to them, but it is definitely very risky... For all it's flaws, the card system of endless space is a better and safer model to pursue...those who've played the disharmony expansion will note that it is a lot more than just cards as you also h

One of the main reasons why SoaSE Rebellion was steam only was to enhance MP...I understand this is GalCiv and thus we have a different crowd, but nevertheless steam offers a lot for MP and I think that is a very important consideration...

This is my take... If you plan on actually playing the alpha and beta versions a lot, then you are in a position to give feedback and affect (however slightly) the final product in a way a post-beta player could not... It's not that I expect them to listen to everything I have to say...but as a GalCiv fan it's nice to know I was one of those "in the beginning" that saw the game transform over time and evolve into a polished product... SD has a lot to be proud o

Flak burst is the most useful ability on the ship and is the only reason any skilled player builds the kol at all...there is a very specific reason why kols are useless early game but are essential to late game fleets, and that is because of flak burst's usefulness against SC spam.... Finest hour ain't bad, self-repair and AM regeneration are nice (though really you are just offsetting the huge AM cost to use the ability)...it isn't a game changing ultimate though and hone

I'm not inclined to bother with the AGW debate, as no one here is changing their opinion... I will however tackle a discussion about alternative energy... Nuclear accidents are a problem...while rare, they are "big" and so when they do happen it's a big boondoggle...the uranium mining process is also a problem because it is a highly volumetric type of mining and all that radioactive rock is now just laying on the surface... Coal power is dangerous too though...

Let me be clear...I have no idea what they intend to use that planet (if it's even as simple as that) for...but for modding purposes it seems at the very least to be a good alternative to dead asteroids when it comes to SttC...

I agree, the jump between hard and unfair is way too much...hard doesn't present a challenge at all for the experienced player while unfair easily can force the player into adopting "AI only" strategies... Either I play against an AI that doesn't stand a chance, or I play against an AI that will be spamming novas in no time...neither really is a good choice....there needs to be something in the middle that realistically mimics the capabilities of a moderately experienced playe

Who is it this time? Mecha? Radio? Qu4r? One tidbit of advice....don't try and counter LFs and CVs with LRFs and flak in the very early game...you are better off just spamming LFs...throw in corvettes only if your opponent starts coming at you with LRFs... Military techs are your friends...as TEC, laser upgrades and hull upgrades are the first to get...their armor upgrades are also low level and perfect to grab once your first fight has already started (r

On the contrary...air superiority aircraft would be the best to be unmanned because the limits of the human body directly limit the flight capabilities of combat aircraft...we could make aircraft much better at dodging bullets or missiles, but they would accelerate so quickly that the human pilot just couldn't take it.... Bombers on the other hand don't need such flight characteristics...

Exhibit A: As you can see, the relationship between atmospheric pressure and temperature is very linear...or logarithmic...or whatever math equation seems to fit that shape...personally I'm thinking some sideways combo of a Gaussian, sine wave, and square root function but to each their own... Exhibit B: <img src="http://1

I have a Lenovo Y580 that I use for gaming and for rendering (Autodesk Inventor) and I don't regret my choice one bit.... Are desktops better? DUH! But are they better enough ? Depends...for me, not really. I can play all my games on highest settings no problems...I can render big things in Inventor, no problems....could it be better with a desktop? Sure...but I can't sit on a couch at a friend's place LANing or sit in bed when sick or
It seems odd, considering my ancient Sony had 2.53. Is 2.20 really standard for nowadays? Also, it has an GeForce 760M graphics card.
In general, the more modern a chip, the better it is...a 2.2 GHz chip today is going to be better than a 2.2 GHz chip from 5 years ago....how much is hard to say but don't think modern chips are slower just because they seem to have slower speeds... You also have to consider the number of cores...most nearly all of th

That's a strange issue to just crop up suddenly...sometimes you can fix strange issues like that by clearing everything in My Documents/My Games/Ironclad Games...there's also always the clean reinstall option....but I assume you are trying to avoid those solutions since they are a pain.... Does disabling BM on your HUD do anything to help the issue? Does changing screen resolution do anything?

I personally prefer fighters late game as well...they are best late game counter to corvettes (flak just melt to titan AoEs and are useless for focus firing), they can rake in XP against bomber spam, and (unlike corvettes) can still focus fire on SBs or caps with lethal AoEs (like MB, mass disorientation, RB, etc)...there are times when bomber spam or corvette spam would be ideal, but in general I think fighters are your safest bet... If you do carrier vs. carrier fights
Please consider the damage done by chastic burst, UM, scattershot and explosive shot. Then compare this damage with the minor damage increase done by Furios Defense on the Ankylons weapon. It just doesnt compare.
Let me be clear...I'm going on the assumption that furious defenses has splash damage (and thus becomes the primary AoE of the Ankylon)....obviously as it stands it is not a comparable ability...it was my take that I wan
