...BTW i can't see their answer
You won't see their answer in the forums if you made a support ticket. You should have received an email as I.D. has stated that your ticket was answered. Check your spam folder if you aren't seeing it.

Are you using Object Desktop Manager to download and install? If so, try going to your downloads page in the Stardock Store, download and run the installer on its own. ODM isn't all that reliable. https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

First off, It's DeskScapes, not Deskspace, secondly, being rude and demanding won't gain any points and will result in less forum help, not more. These forums are mostly occupied by users of SD software and isn't the preferred way of contacting support. I'd try installing/activating with all Antivirus/antimalware apps disabled first. if that doesn't help, you'll need to contact support via email.....and try a little patience.
Purchased and installed..no problems, everything skins correctly except the Win 10 start menu which does not skin at all. Am I meiising something here?

The Windows 10 startmenu is not designed to be skinned. Microsoft chose to make it that way unfortunately.
You will need Start10 installed for WB's to skin the start menu.<

That icon handler key fix is only for .exe files and is a working fix for blank icons, the OP's problems are much deeper than that. IP hoses Windows 8.1 which is why it isn't listed as compatible with that OS. If support does have a fix, he should contact them. Icon Packager should be blocked from installing on non-compatible OSes. I believe it is for Win 10.
Does that really work?
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It's worth a shot before he has to do a complete OS install. It would be helpful if you'd post where he can find the icon cache folder, I can't find that info ATM. He could also try a restore point but that too isn't always reliable. I guess this issue goes back a long way: <a href="https://forums.wincustomize.com/439211/page/2/#3568
Looking to get an inexpensive laptop, mainly for word processing, text editing.
That won't require a huge hard drive but I'd still look for one with at least 320/500 GB storage. Also you'll want at least 4 GB's of Ram since it will most likely be a 64 bit version of Windows.

Open Icon Packager and go to the Settings tab. At the bottom are 3 buttons. Rebuild Icon Cache, Repair shell icons and Repair icon images. Hit each of those and reboot. It may take several tries to get them all straightened out.

Disable any AV program you have running, then redownload the installer and try agin. I recommend reverting back to Default Windows GUI, deactivate the WB license in WB UI, Uninstall WB, reboot, THEN install WB 10. Yeah, I know, a lot of steps but from my experience, it was needed to get the correct version number to show in About WB and in the systray. YMMV P.S. It was worth it, I'm really liking the new look.
