Most of what is added in Ultimate can be achieved with Home Basic and some open source/freeware.
And a little help from Stardock. :CONGRAT: I'm reasonably sure that ODNT was cheaper than upgrading to Home Premium. ;)
Without needing to say it, I think revenge is in order. Andrew, Zoomba, Dean....I know you were the culprits behind this. I will have my revenge.
They kept your work environment shielded from dust and potentially health-threatening germs.Heck, they may have even saved your life! ;) How you wish to "thank" them is up to you.

This weekend I switched to SD Desktop by Vad_M.Lately I go for matching WB's up to a DX theme. The one I'm using now(testing)is sharp!
My Windowblind choice usually dictates a change to all my other "skinnables".
Ditto.
Is there some way we could get the Wincustomize people to write up an article to appear on the front page?
If TRIBUTE and BoXXI together in the same sentence didn't get more responses, shame on those who didn't vote.FruitLoops isn't my first choice either, but I admire the whole concept and look forward to what becomes of it. Good Luck, everyone. :CONGRAT:

In my opinion, what little effects there are isn't worth that much work.I can switch them on and off, and they are minimal at best,it's only a tiny, very fast "shrink-expand" effect when min/maxing windows, different start menus, and that's it.It's up to you,of course, but you aren't missing much, if you have lost them.
If possible, compare what you're getting to a standard (uncustomized) machine with Home Basic installed to see if there is any difference, but I doubt it.
<b

I don't know if it's an app, but ccleaner is one the best things I've put on my computer.I also recently had my mother install and run it on her Vista and XP rigs. Her Java,Windows mail,IE7 and other things were locking up and driving her nuts(I helped too ,lol)Since cleaning, everything is running like it should. This is a must have on any system, imho.I set it up for her over the landline,we live in different states,it's that easy. Look, a serious reply! ;)
So let's see a start panel!
As long as you're not in a hurry for it.I'm too untalented to even install SkinStudio, but maybe someday, who knows? ;)

I only used the trial for two hours(I was easy, lol) but I know you can't recolor with it and I don't think transparency is fully supported. The paid version is well worth the money, lots of great skins here,most100% free.Loads of great"clear" ones. You'll soon forget what Vista Basic looks like.Make sure you uninstall the trial and reboot before you install the paid version.Have fun.P.S. I like your new 'nick'

You mean a wall/skin salvage yard? Too good to shred but no interest in fixing it up? What a great(and very generous) idea. :CONGRAT:
This came to me in a dream . .
Uh....no comment. :NOTSURE:

The great thing about that is, if you get tired of a WB,you can recolor it,pick a new wallpaper and *presto*, a brand new look!Have fun.(Some Windowblinds will have a link to the wall, watch for those.)Also, not all are automatically applied, when provided. It's up to the blind maker.I just drag the wp onto the "wallpaper" list in WB config and pick one out when changing WB's :D

Vista Home Basic does not support Aero or blur.Windowblinds wont "fix" that. You need to get Home premium for aero,3d windows and 'flip'animations. The paid version of WB's will allow transparent effects on skins, not the Vista Basic or standard interface. The"animations"happen quickly,it's barely noticeable and only with WB's unloaded, and on Vista Basic. Are you using the paid or trial WindowBlinds?
