Yes the races are similar at first, but their tech trees, cap ship and cruiser abilities and thus play styles are varied. Oh, and for the info of people on these forums - Daton Kallandor is a notorious troll in a number of other strategy forums. Relic forums for one. So don't get worked up about anything he says - it's hard to work out if he is a deliberate troll, or just really messed up.

actually it is a real time strategy - the other RTSs out there are RTT (tactical). :) Find some mates to play with and save the game to continue on another night.
were the figures in the first post retail only, or do they include digital purchases?
Can I add to this that, once you have researched the things you need, that you can then scuttle the labs, wihtout affecting existing tech, to free up logistics slots later in the game?
thanks for putting the replay up.. was there any word on a 'replay vault' from teh devs?
Since I've had a crack at the retails SOASE, i've found it to be easy in some ways and hard in others. I've found the changed (since beta4) fleet controls confusing.. auto-adding to a fleet but the ships don't show up under the fleet icon.. the difference between fleet control and control groups.. which ship is the leader The tech tree layout is more logical, but i find I do more clicking now because of all the extra tabs. So it should be easier to f
I find the requests irritating as well.. if you could flat out mute some of them, or deny the request straight out, that would be nice.
I think they said the extra content would be made available 'some time' after release?
ooh, yeah I did the same O_O
best to go the digital download option... this is happening more and more with Australian releases. I assume because the distributor here is asking for too much (probably lack of competition)
well, making the beta for pre-ordered customers was bound to attract pirate attention :) .. if it converts some of them to paying customers, who is going to argue.
Yeah, agreed Craig. Though I will admit to wondering if they meant that in the sense of "it won't be competitive when it comes to sales" or "it won't be competitive because no one will put it in competitions" / "compete in any competitions".
I think they feel it won't get the sort of 'high level' play and large amount of traffic they need to justify a portal <-- these are my interpretations of the replies I got. There is a school of thought in GR that if you can't micro,
Bit of necromancy here. but I tried to get GR to put sins onto their site.. they declined saying that the lack of micro and length of game meant they didn't see this game being a competitive RTS... oh well.
thanks for the reply.
you can always purchase the game from stardock directly.
Hi all, I want to give a present to a mate of mine (i.e. a copy of SoaSE), is it possible to do this within the current totalgaming setup(ala Steam does). Let me just make it clear that I have a copy for myself, but wish to purchase another and give it to a friend (using tokens). Can this be done?
