If it strikes your fancy you could colonize every planet & fully upgrade them (it can be fun to see what you can find on a planet when you explore it), then put trading hubs and refineries at every planet. Even on a small map you can have heavy trader traffic which can be fun to watch. You could go even further and max out defenses on every planet, then you can max out your fleet cap where you can either have a massive fleet or several smaller ones based at several planets (

@Ironhand You got to understand the circumstances. I had a "old" DELL at the time, you don't know what it's like going from "Yes, I can play on low settings with this average new game" to near max settings one of the best (and still one of the best) RTS games to come out. I should have gone blind from the awesomeness shock. Once i had a computer that could play it I well, figured out how to play it.

My problem with the OP is that he puts all the "mediocre" players in one basket. I consider my self "mediocre", I'm not a newbie nor am i a awesome player. To go and take a s*** on everyone in this skill range is insulting and thus the OP can go bite me, along with anyone who agrees with him. There are people who unwisely try to turtle up and/or build a massive economy at the expense of his military, but not everyone plays like this. I've been playing around with HC r
Not my play style, but you can still bite me OP.I call bullshit, this from the guy who'd play homeworld 2 for 2 or 3 hours just to max out his battlecruiser fleet and have his defenses all nice and shiny before he raped the AI Its just not your ONLY play style, it is, however, one of them, lol
Pfft, shows how much you know about HW2, those "defenses" maxed out can guard about one rock in space and not much more. And yes, i have maxed out my BC fleet just so i ca

The pirates as they are now are not pirates, instead they are mercenaries. In their current forum i do find them annoying just because so much more could have been done with them rather then 2 minutes of watching the bounty price if you can be bothered to check with a weak fleet showing up at a planet sometime later. After the first 2/3 raids they are no longer a concern as I start building repair bays and a few turrets at every planet and move a few extra ships there and that is all y

Well, this might convince him -Sins is currently the #1 selling game in the USA with a good chunk of that online sales. They have a good track record with games such as Galactic Civilization 2 and many non gaming programs (IIRC they make more money from the non gaming side of things). -I don't think you'll find anywhere a complaint about someone getting ripped off, there might be wrong mailing address/payments not going through but they are all resolved quickly. -Stardock Centr

If you have a firewall, check the rules/settings that are applied to Sins. If it's a router issue, the only advice i got is to see if you can enable DMZ.

There may be one or two store chains that would carry the game but they would have to order directly from start dock, similar to how some European stores carry sins but there is no publisher/distributor for Europe yet. You will have to contact each store chain yourself to see if they are shipping in the game. Your best bet is to go to the "Store" link on the top of this page and order the digital download (credit card or paypal). $44.95 USD for the digital download (add

I do not believe that mini expansions will work. 1- You have people like me who have short attention spans when it comes to games. I usually don't play a game for more then a few weeks and rare is the game i ever play a second time, and to be honest I don't think i'd check for mini expansions. 2- For sins it would have to be backwards compatible with previous sins games with regards to multiplayer matches. With the already small online community, splitting them up will be the

Better to wait and have the angry mobs yelling at you then releasing it too soon to make the angry mobs happy which will result in the angry mobs throwing torches through the windows.

Yes, you can download the game and install it/back it up to a recordable DVD. Install Stardock Central like Los_WLd mentioned, register your serial number and look in "my games" to find Sins. You can back it up to a CD by My Games > right click Sins > select Archive Application > "Download and Archive" Have you tried other CD's in your CD drive? Also note that Sins retail come on a DVD, so you will not be able to use a pure (and old) CD drive.

Wow, green text is much easier to read on the black background. On a side note, there are currently mods planned for Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, B5, Dawn of Victory, mmaayybbee FireFly. I imagine it would cost a arm and a leg for SD/IC to buy the rights to make a game out of said intellectual property. Yes, diplomacy sucks and I don't know if IC (they are the ones who actually made the game) will do anything about it beyond a few tweaks. I would expec

It is only a good idea if you use advent as their scouts have a suicide ability that does a lot of damage. The problem with the other 2 races is that if they see you spamming LRM's, they'll probably encourage you to keep spamming then come in with a assault frigate fleet and wipe you out. At least with flacks they have other uses. Note that i have not tried this before, and the above is facts that have been stated. -Edit- You use the suicide ability if you are facing

I don't think they kill the slaves as it states in the lore that the Vasari had a vast empire where they enslaved the local population to produce stuff for them while maintaining a presence in orbit. Whatever system the vasari developed from back in their empire days I believe they now apply to conquered worlds. I also highly doubt they would use slave labor in mining operation in space as automated machinery would be far more cost effective.

Basics 1- Have no more then 2 colonies with a negative income at any one time. Expand to asteroids first as it is cheaper to get positive income. 2- Scout, build 2 to 4 scouts and set to auto explore. 3- Bribe pirates. 4- Expand to choke points and do not move past. Once you feel you have enough territory (eg, 1/4 of a med random map) stop expanding and build up full defenses on the front line planets. You can neglect the defenses in the front you are attacking (have some
