Hi, Yes Dark Avatar and Dread Lords works without fault- But I managed to get it all to work properly after fully uninstalling impulse and galciv, then reinstalling everything. Still not quite sure what caused the issue but happy it's working again :) Strangely just reininstalling the games without removing impulse entirely didn't fix it. I did also remove the directories from 'my games' in 'my documents' which could've had some effect as well.
Forak
Hi, I have the exact same problem after just having reinstalled the game on my computer to check out the beta. Same error and same log. No idea how to fix this so far.. anyone with any ideas?
Altough I realise that the more demigods the better, I think I personally would prefer fewer demigods with more skillchoices per demigod (think diablo style skilltrees perhaps?) This way you got more options with your character and arent nessecarily screwed if you face a demigod that "counters" yours.
Random can be good, as long as it doesnt end up as 'whoever gets lucky with the random diceroll wins'
Always fun reading these journals, looking forward to more of them!
I dunno, I like the earlier suggestions of Champions and Generals, then again from what we been hearing lately the lines are fading between the 2 'classes' anyway so soon we can just call them Demigods and be done with it :)
Same here, can't wait to try the beta with you all :)
Hard to believe indeed that all the amazing models we've seen so far is the work of a 2(.5!) person team :) Awesome job, keep it up
Yeah, I pre-ordered my copy today as well...Anyone know if there is still room for the beta? I haven't been able to find anything noting otherwhise.
I just pre-ordered today too, as far as i'm aware we'll both get beta spots, the general idea seems to be that there will be an announcement from GPG/Stardock when the beta is full (if there even is a limit)
Well I had my friend order with the 'For a friend' option and he was indeed able to fill out my details (name/email etc) in a seperate screen, so that seems to be working fine. Thanks for the help guys, hopefully see you all in the beta soon :)
Aye it does sound obvious i'm just worried the game will get registered to my friend in Impulse, as he also had some problems with that before when ordering the GalCiv expansion, i.e. used a different email to order with as he had used for the earlier galciv games, and had to get that sorted by Customer Support.
Hi. Looked through the other pre-order related threads but couldn't find the exact information I was looking for, I would like to preorder the game as it's looking great and I want to support Stardock (big fan of galciv/sins also) but ran into a problem as the pre-order option doesn't appear to accept Paypal, which is my preffered method of payment as I do not currently own a creditcard. Would I run into any problems if I let a friend of mine use his CC to order the game for me
Yeah ok I only ever play 2v2v2 or 2v2v2v2, I have no trouble believing those maps only work well for 3v3's due to their very nature, but the map description does list 2v2v2 as 'recommended' (tried twin empires 4v4 but it often puts 1 player amongst 3 enemies, I would not like to be in his shoes ^^)
Don´t have time to test out all maps atm but figured I would check foreign invasion then, and it doesn´t have fixed starting locations in 2v2v2 at least 2 teams start close together with players from the 3rd team split far and between the other 2 teams, occasionally anyway, due to it being random and all quick edit: if it is in fact possible for them to make maps fixed as it is, it's really weird a potentially great 2v2v2v2 map like twin empires doesn't have this set :(
Hmm actually no map has fixed starting positions, it´s entirely random, even tho in the map editor you will see teams placed together, in practice it doesn´t quite work out that way.. try starting some games with 7 AI´s on for example twin empires and group them up in 4 teams, then restart 10 or so times, you might get your ally in the correct position once. It is an issue..

The times i've paid good money for a game only to then run into massive problems with it's copy protection.... going so far as having to uninstall software which has absolutely nothing to do with the game itself due to a blacklist or whatever they are using.. And then when you compare to how much trouble the 'pirates' are having with the same protection, they copy a .exe and are done with it, leaving the actual customers with all the problems. Copyprotection is a horrible idea, it costs a lot of
Simply tick/untick the 'use deepspace skybox' (and other similiar option) in the effects menu while in a game, to cycle through all the available background colors on the fly
I play nearly only as vasari online in various 2v2/2v2v2/2v2v2v2 games. Build order would be: Capital ship factory, crystal extractor, buy 100 crystal on black market, upgrade planet to max population, get 2 scouts, get 2 metal extractors, wait a few seconds and get a colony ship, then start making 4-5 normal frigs. Use battleship to clear out the first asteroid belt and colonize it immediatly. As for teching, I never go with civilian techs unless it's absolutely required to get ice/vol
The AOE is bigger then you might think at first, also, spreading out ships isnt as easy as it sounds, especially with fragile LRM's. They die before you can divide your fleet up by 4 even, worst case scenario only 1/4th of the enemy fleet instantly dies, and the ability still has time remaining. All the while the enemy isn't shooting at you as he's busy reforming his fleet. In any case it will severely hinder the enemies ability to focus fire, which is what players tend to do
Use ALT-Click, to get a 'Double click to select all' effect Also the AOE effect is pretty big, loose formation would have to be extremely loose for that not to happen
Keep in mind the 30% ability cooldown stacks, and with the fast firing rate due to power surge, it stacks A LOT. Also.. the vasari BS is by far the best at dealing with pure frigate spam thanks to it's level 6 ability, cleansing brilliance doesn't come close :P As proven [link="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtEgzzKP0iE"]Here[/link]
I guess it really is hard to see what exactly happens, This is all about the Vasari battleship level 6 ability. Basicly it works as a sort of 'Corpse Explosion' You might be familiar with from other games. Every time one of the affected ships (indicated by the red glow) dies, it will deal 150 damage to everything around it. Causing an extreme chainreaction as you can see here Due to the very low health on LRM's opponents often do not have the time to react to this, and it will
Yes! I completely agree about people leaving way too quickly. I think fixing/introducing a proper stat system (ranks/proper counting of wins/losses) will make people actually bother to stay in games and fight it out like they should. A setback at the start doesnt in any way mean you can't make a comeback, people just dont want to try most of the time.
I just played a nice competitive game against against a self proclaimed pro sins player (those already exist? :p) and some other people. My mixed fleet of 15 assailts, my battleship, and 6 enforcers which I just started producing got attacked by 66 LRM's (I say 50 in the video, replay shows 66) Something we've all become familiar with right? But this time.. all 66 LRMs died within 10 seconds of the fight actually starting. Yes that's right. All of them. How? Youtube video fol
