The last time I installed the beta, it overwrote my standard version. I had to eventually uninstall beta, and reinstall standard. This time, I'd like to have both versions so I don't have to do any uninstalls/reinstalls. How do I do this? I figured it would be "pinned" but I didn't see anything or couldn't find it. Thanks.

Here's the deal. If the siege frigs are adjusted to take up less popcap, they will need a further reduction in hit poits, hull, armor, etc. because, even with nerfs they've already received, they will still be too tough to stand a chance against them in numbers. If 20 siege frigs are sent to your planet, reasonable defenses should be able to take out all 20 - no problem, no loss of planet. With the way those frigs are built right now, the planet would go down, even i
well, the fact that you guys are fighting all this out with low amounts of cobalts, discs, and ravs leads me to believe the game is probably not very skilled on either side, no offense,
None taken. I specifically said that I was no pro by any means, and I said in my opening post that he seemed somewhat of a "newb." I've played some of the real pros before - that's just a level of "skill" that I would never have the time nor energy to match. I'm comfor
But again - and I made this argument against nerfing Siege ships way back when, if a foe invests resources into Siege ships, thats resource not going into an actual combat fleet - the very sort of fleet *we* are meant to use to crush such Siege vessels with.
Well first off, with that diamond armor siege frigates had, actual combat fleets weren't very good at crushing them. Second off, it was just a seriously screwed-up game dynamic. I mean, what are turrets

They had a website and everything (I checked it out). A couple of their members have posted here before - I've seen their names. I have no idea if they still exist - this was quite a while back.

Fear of assholes more than anything else. The first 100 times I tried to get an online game ended in a completely non-fun experience. Every single time. The typical situation is that some kid create some huge map with 10 players, and wants 5vs5. You join coz its your only shot at a game (I know - ridiculous from the outset. How long will the game last with 10 players? 10 hours?), then 5 minutes into it one of the players bails, causing much consternation

Don't know exactly where to put this, so I'll stick it here (that's what HE said, ha ha). Was playing an online multiplayer game, I was Vasari. I had sent a colony frig to colonize a planet, and kept realizing it hadn't colonized yet. Every couple of minutes I'd look back at the planet and say "That darn thing hasn't colonized YET? Must have used a lot of mana up in the phase jumps." Eventually I knew something was wrong, and figured it wasn't on autocast, so I

I suppose it could be a pro posing under a smurf account, pretending to be a newb. I didn't really consider this earlier because I didn't see how or why a pro could get his rocks off doing such a thing. I figured it would be a total waste of his time and energy. I mean, I'm no newb, but I'm certainly no tier 1 pro. I mean, the last thing I'd want to do if I was a pro was play people who were absolutely no competition compared to me - it would be no fun. But who k

Well, thanks for the input. I know about capital ship special abilities, and I use them. Sure, they are useful. But in my opinion only a total pro could use them to serious effect (with good enough results to justify their expense). For the average player, I think caps are liabilities - cost way, way too much, eat up way too much fleetcap, go down way too fast. Actually, I think its sad. The capships are the "flagships" of the game. They are the lar

To ask the question about siege frigates means you don't know the history of the game. I had it when the first version rolled out. It was totally and completely ridiculous. To win the game, all you had to do was build 10 siege frigates (at the time they were cheap, used little fleetcap, and were ridiculously hard to kill) and send them straight to your enemy's homeworld. That was it. It didn't matter what fleet he had protecting his homeworld. It didn't mat

I would like either verification from the pros on my contention, or tell me why I'm wrong. In the basic sense, I believe that cap ships suck. Now, in "special circumstances" they can be good. For instance, as a colonizer beginning the game, the Advent mothership is great because of the cheap upgrades on the planets. But I'm talking no special circumstances, no need for colonization, no need for planet bombardment, etc. I'm talking just a straight up fight if I
