I've played approximately 10 games to completion (or at least to the point where everyone quits) and I've noticed a repeating pattern. To generalize, players are stockpiling units as a one to two hour leadin to the final "coup de gras" battle. Once that battle is over, the losers usually resign. I see this not only as poor strategy, but also a monumental wasting of time. Furthermore, the player who loses the battle, will often retaliate by explaining how over-powered or unbalanced th
Limz!
Use the Mod tools and dissect one of the many files , I forget which entity file but it has all that data, then match it with the corresponding table.
Bensam, you're pretty arrogant for skipping the posts. The assertion is that TEC=Vasari=Advent , that was proven by the defensive posts to be erroneous in all manners in game play.
That said, I hate the sort of balancing used in this game... mirror balancing. There is true balance, mirror balancing, and rock-paper-scissors balancing. True balance which is the best sort very few and only the best games have. Dawn of War and StarCraft would be the best examples you can come u
What I'm being is realistic. I can't speak for the OP but I realize that the teams are going to have metal and crystal extractors, structures to build ships at, basic warships and so forth that will overlap in function. Generalities are common here on the boards and previous posters have made the statement that basically states that since, for example in Company of Heroes both the Americans and Nazi teams (I haven't played with the ex-pack) have machine gunners and snipers they a
True... But I bet I made you smile or atleast go "heh".
While I did, at the same time we all have one of those moments from time to time where we are completely drool cup when posting. So uh, have we cleaned up all the confusion here? Can we move onto a new topic?
You know what I wonder? If the Iconus Guardian's bubble shield protects fighters/bombers from flak.
So that's how the cookie crumbles! That's the end of that chapter!
All of a sudden I get this feeling that some of the people here are required to make use of all their mental resources just so they do not drool on their keyboards.
Harsh ;(
Clearly Ron, the details are what matters - oh wait.
Diplomacy needs to tweaked / fixed, I think. It's unbalanced because it's not give and take... it's just give, give, give. The NPCs don't have to do jack squat for you, but you have to run missions for them and give them gifts to get on their good side?
The first part I agree only on the tweaking bit, but have you played the same game I have is the real question. With enough rapport the AI will aid you in fights and even follow you around systems, I am also pret
Step 1: Scout Step 2: Find the appropriate counter Step 3: Engage! Step 4: Micro Step 5: Prepare to counter their counter! Step 6: Rinse and repeat steps 1-5, eventually getting victory! That being said yes, there are counters such as flak frigates which all sides have however, since this game isn't based on rock paper scissor you might actually have some luck finding a soft counter to it.
Is the advantage not obvious? They come early game and they're cheap, their upgrade tree is fairly short on the tiering list and cost low supply. You can field them en masse and that alone is an advantage since this game is a DPS race so the more damage you can field the better. Furthermore, the game uses soft counters and therefore there isn't any one thing that will completely annihilate without effort an armada of light frigates. That being said, diversification is still bet
I have no idea what people are talking about, there are unique units in each faction that really change how the faction is played at times. It more or less has almost a Warcraft III feel to it. With that in mind, I'll make a pointless effort by looking at some random posts:
Sins? identical sides but for minor research changes and (this is the important bit) Different play styles.
Has the same diversification as your above criticism, try to be
Embargo the crap out of them! While spamming frigates/LRM/trade centers.
This game follows a traditional RTS format, it doesn't matter what the upgrades do it matters what damage type you're flagged as and what armor you're going against. Specifically armor types. I know there is an armor medium value in the game and probably light , capital , and heavy or I would guess at the very least. The damage values are the same and correspond to a table stating what the *real* damage is. That being said, the game seems to have soft counters not necessarily h
Just avoid Grindstone as a map. =p
Play Grindstone with hard AIs in an unlocked FFA setting - It's nearly impossible unless you luck out with 'quests' and if you're really wanting a challenge, ignore the quests. It'll be 7v1 with non-stop action.
If you want a fast paced game, it'll be map based more than anything else. 1 Star + X planets , something like Grindstone which is probably the best map out of all of them. Within the first thirty minutes, out of the eight players present four will be eliminated.
Clearly, first colony frigate should also be free. Needs more intensity early on rather than a complete snooze fest. =P Some frigates have more fire power than heavy cruisers.
Space Cowgirl, Well, when females fail to meet a certain standard after say over a hundred years, it seems to point towards it being a male job. But I suppose when we do get a genetic freak of a woman who can meet those standards it won't be a male job.
No lasers in this game, or 99.99% of all scifi games. Space combat with lasers is boring to look at, because there is literally nothing to look at. What modern scifi calls "laser" is some sort of weapon that fires shaped bolts of plasma in an magnetic field or any such other possible explanation, thought up by people who have way too much time on their hands to calculate all that stuff and obviously need to go out more, for nicely coloured lines flashing between ships. Since no
Danielost:
the majority of any space ship is going to be the engines.
And the rest of the trash you posted is/was irrelevant. Point one: Star Trek is not the standard, there is no standard but in this conversation Sins is standard. You have no idea what the hell is inside that ship nor do you know their miniaturization levels. An erroneous statement on your part regardless.
Your right a modern naval ship would have a hard
If no one realizes how big the ships are, then something should be done to more accurately convey the size of the ships in the game. There are no ships or objects small enough (besides fighters) to convey the relative size of the frigates and capitals. Also, as I mentioned before, the design of many frigates makes them look small.
Perhaps one day someone will come out with a mod that shrinks everything according to what his or her beliefs are or some such.
I think your wrong. I think a space battle will be the same as a naval battle only with more distance involved and a battle field that is 3d instead of 2d. oh wait with aircraft and subs naval battles are 3d as well.
Okay, next phase: PROVE IT. Compare, contrast, show me hard numbers and direct me to links if you're too lazy. Present me with a scenario that displays weapons moving at sub light or at light speed combined with perfect targeting systems a
But they also point out the worst part about the game, aside from the missing campaign, the online system is barebones at best =(
