What? Just cheese the game with Krax blood dodge stacked units, you can then research whatever you like after obtaining the Sindarin staff, or actually it doesn't matter at all what you do since your troops can fight at a very high ratio making them ridiculously high in combat effectiveness. You can also just rush a trio out and take AI cities if you see any right off the bat. On Ridiculous it just gets boring to wade through stacks of spearmen though. </

Few things that I find might need some change 1) Cannot upgrade number of troops in a unit as tech unlocks become available. Pretty annoying as it takes some of the motivation to level up units and thus takes away from one key experiences of rpg's IMO. 2) Units that level up should be listed in the battle info log after the battle. 3) Lighly armor
Hence, Master of Mana is still more flavorful and engrossing than this :(
Well, in one thread or another Tjurururudury has proven that there is one build to make infantry worth getting early on and by extrapolation, I am going to go farther and say that the best weapon is... a staff. Lucky + Krax racial + Fortify + Sindanriririlrlzl staff = dodge near the 70s. That's probably the only infantry I would ever bother running with since their attrition rate is nearly non-existent while simultaneously outputting decent damage something your sov and cham
Dominions 3 multi-player probably will take days to finish :/ The bad thing about that game is the UI which is utter crap and makes micromanagement pretty hellish. This is especially true if you work with blood magic. =/ FFH is good though.
If only someone could combine Civ4's Fall From Heaven II and Dominions 3 with Victoria II.
Community is peoples too! I think the lesson learned here is to find balance in all things.
Maybe, just MAYBE, since Sins isn't exactly like Starcraft and Dawn of War, it's NOT THE SAME TYPE OF GAME.
Plays like a RTS, feels like a RTS. The difference? It's just dragged out longer. Economic model is RTS, combat is RTS , counter system is RTS. What part of the progression are you missing? The only thing that's missing is a competitive match making service, leagues, and a standardized setting with balance based on solely that. And we will never
@ Limz! Please stop misreading my posts. I said "...the devs kept looking to the ultra-competitive element for suggestions about game balance, which screwed the game more (ladder or no ladder, I know many people who never looked/cared what the ladder said) than anything else..." I didn't say or imply that the act of competitive-gaming kills a game. I did imply that devs listening to the competitive-community over their own ideals for their game is a game-ki
Sorceresss,
I wonder how many commercial sales & profits that small elite of « high-level » competitive players generates.
You're actually wandering into some pretty funky waters here. You don't know the mind of the consumer; there are some who view the competitive community with awe and aspire to that to a degree. There are some who will buy the game regardless since it suits their flavor regardless of actual substance. Then there are other factors su
@ the_monk The problem with your example is that correlation does not imply causation. If their ladder system was already screwed up to begin with things could only get worse regardless if they listened to the competitive community or not. Because of the nature of the game they were in between a rock and a hard place. I was in the beta and climbed the ladder despite usually being on the losing team and in retail did the same. It is almost a given that WiC would be extremely *
Clearly, they did it for the lulz.
Playing RTS games online has always been a load of horse shit. 'Strategy' is a myth and really has no bearing at all on how "RTS" games are played online.
Define strategy.
I decided to write this because I can't see this MP mode as even being a game it isn't. If this were cards you might have some sense of a game and there would be the random happening of card distribution and player ability that could constitute some feeling of partic
The Monk: WiC is merely an example of the devs being retarded. Their ladder system was stupid and therefore, team stacking was normal. But, whatever, I played on the losing team simply because it was funny/competitive/challenging. It really pains me, despite being such a great helper of the community your analysis on something so simple is off the mark by fathoms. You have not considered the flaws in the system itself. Again, refer to my post where I outline that competitive g
No. As I already pointed out, competitive gameplay is almost always completely counter to yay-team gameplay.
At the highest tier of many sports competitive game play require you to have the best team. There is very little difference between soccer/football, paintball , and arranged ladder teams or TF/TFC teams (which are a lot less twitchy due to game mechanics). Competitive gaming is generally helpful to a community when the developers are sound of mind and the public relations exploits it properly. In the end, competitive gaming is about fair play and a dedicated fan base therefore, companies cater to them more often than not because the casual player will usually enjoy the game regardless of the changes especially if all factions become balanced. If IC/Stardock/Whatever monitors the games played online, most of them will be ones wher
If you aren't a competitive player, stay away from them unless they deliberately seek you out. Both of you live in completely different worlds when it comes to gaming. If you do decide to seek the competitive player out then just be fully aware of the elitism/nastiness that can occur. That being said, it's not that they're jerks - it's simply a misunderstanding. And as for this:
Competitive players: ruining gaming for over a decade!
T
HuntingX, I think you need to review your analysis of the Advent a bit more carefully. Look at the numbers, you can figure out how to squeeze out more DPS with Advent.
And actually, it takes TEC more effort to kill those fighters/bombers than it seems. With the right selection early on, you can make it work in your favor.
Some of us are better at playing Sins of a Forum Empire than others. I suggest you counter trolls with flak/defense since they're only effective against lightly armored and medium armored posts.
When you're Advent and you're stuck facing mass LRMs you really don't have a choice but to mass Defense frigs and run your Disciples away otherwise you'll end up with a fleet of only Defense frigs with no cap ship and no disciples =( Illuminators really come in too late and fighter swarms die off to a few flak frigs.
I know I should watch the replay, but at the same time I think logically that this replay is a complete waste of everyone's time. It is common knowledge that flaks school LRMs but the whole thing is can you save the rest of your fleet from being annihilated before they withdraw? You will be losing a cap ship or you'll have to withdraw one that is nearly dead and the battle has just begun. Furthermore, the flaks are virtually worthless against anything but light and very light meaning y
The best solution - Someone create a new forum and start a league that supports hamachi. Arranged matches and a point system to defeat ICO/Stardock's inferior multiplayer design until they catch up. Everyone wins.
