Reminds me of Supreme Commander. THQ points to NVIDIA and Windows for problems and the other two take turns blaming the other. If it's a video issue 82% of the time it's not the DEv's fault but the makers of the card to blame. I've had cards in the past with issues on games forcing in one case a upgrade from NVIDIA to Raedeon for my other box. My current one uses dual 8800's gtx cards and they don't give me any trouble with SoaSE.

Wierd every time I see Vasari I think reptilian. I get the feel from the manual they we're a patriarchal society where females we're basically status symbols or like they we're seen in some ancient cultures before people smartened up. Either or I like the portraits , can't wait for the mod/pack. Edit: sigh double post sorry.

Wierd every time I see Vasari I think reptilian. From reading the history and what I see I picture them as a patriarchal society where females have zero standing. Kind of like how some ancient societies held them.

Yeah, if it's an artifact they specify that in the warning. If it's something like Kalsitrate ? , crystals that give 20% to trade or the penal colony stuff or tundra farms on an ice planet it's always "found something interesting here".

I think this was mentioned before just after 1.03 was released, but I would like planets to go back to random resource values when you start. It added a strategic level to a game. If I know every planet I take , aside from Volcanic and Ice, just has 2 asteroids then it really doesn't matter how I branch out, but before 1.03 if my scouts showed me a desert planet with 3 asteroids one way and another with just 1 or 2 well guess which way my fleets is going to lean. I kinda miss that "surprise" ele

Yeah that would be interesting to see. Maybe call intra-solar jump points Phase Nexi ( Nexus singular) where Phase space is kinda folded in on itself or something and keep Wormholes just for Star to Star jumps.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but for certain achievements like Union Buster where you have to kill X of a thing to get it, id love to see that info displayed somewhere so you can tell how far you have to go. Otherwise I love the 1.03 patch and the ideas presented here by innociv and most others.

One could make a ship in size between cruiser and Cap ship. Then give it a limited level bar. Like Cap ships can reach level 10 Destroyers can reach level 5. This would max out there abilities. This way you could get a bigger ship earlier on after your first Cap to help take some of those planets that have a fleet of 5-7 ships guarding it. As destroyers they would have support abilities to help defend Cap ships. Be something nice to see. As to destroyers being below cruisers, depends on
Competitive players: ruining gaming for over a decade! There is a difference between being competitive and being a jerk. Please try not to confuse the two again.
Actually I am not sure about that. I've been playing in a pool league for over four years now and I find the two hard to seperate. Some of the people who play are so competitive it does detract from the game. These are not new players who can't relax or anything either. Some have won trips to Vegas to play compet

I'd like this too. Being able to add names from other sci-fi genre's or even real life would be interesting.

For those acheivments that require x # of ships killed, does it have to be in one game or is their a file that totals how many you killed and once you reach the total you get it?. I got the Union buster acheivment last night after 50 construction ships we're killed, but for the life of me I'd swear I never that many planets that had them. This would be my 4th skirmish game and it got me wondering. To get the pirate ship on ore trade/refinery would either take a long game of

Old McTurret had a farm. E I E I O !. Sorry. Seriously the mousetrap Idea with a phase gate link is the best way to deal with pirates. just keep an eye on the battle and if for some reason it looks like the pirates will win, you can phase gate in to help. Plus the benefit of returning Armada , once researched, will indeed replace losses fast, and for free.

Look at all the ships the US keeps mothballed, all those plane airframes out in Arizona and the gear stored in armories. They cost money to maintain but a fraction of what a operating unit does. They don't need fuel, armaments, crew or anything. Just a routine check on a set schedule to make sure it's not sinking, rusting or dusty. I'd prefer a upkeep where there is a minimum you have to pay for this logistic capacity, and the rest of the cost depends on your actual Operational units in the fie

Oh yeah we do. the last RTS one was emperor wasn't it? Just before EA ate Westwood. Well with Red Alert 3 on the way, perchance EA will contact Frank Herbert's family/estate and see if they are willing for a new one. I remember playing Emperor and loved it. A lot like Dune 2 where you picked where you attacked and they had alot of acting talent for the leaders. Micheal Dorn as Duke Atreides and Mike McShane as Baron Harkonnen we're great in the intro.

Just like SupCom or C and C3, I can't see an option to disable BFG'S in a Multi/skirmish game to be game breaking. I've played some C and C'3 games where all an opponent did was make a HUGE defensive line then Superweped the heck out of one player before sending in the air fleet. While a valid strategy it kinda forced you to play the same way so some of your defensive weapons survive the first salvo to save you from the incoming troops.

I think Noobian12 means do the races have a specific bonus they add compared to another race. Example. TEC get more from trade because it's a trade empire at heart, Advent get increased cultural influence cause they are psychic and Vasari build stuff faster because they mastered nano-tech. As to the answer I don't think so. Beyond the divergent Tech tree's I don't see one race having a racial bonus and penalty if you pick them. There have been a few RTS games that do that. You see it alot in R
FYI: In the first paragraph of the 4th bullet of the article, you write: "But it isn't not the driving reason for lost sales." This is a double negative and means it IS the driving reason for lost sales.actually, one should say that its a triple negative, and is indeed the driving reason for lost sales.ah, I love semantics.
"Is not a flame" If you spend any time reading Plato, Like I did for college, you learn quickly the man lived for semantics. <br
But I find it funny that the fellow who posted about my griping seems to have forgotten SINGLE PLAYER STORY MODE AND MULTI PLAYER ARE THE ONLY TWO ASPECTS OF A GAME.
No there is Co-Op which is really two-player usually, RPG's aside. Army of Two comes to mind for the X-Box. It's best when played with two people. then there is that weird Multi player style Kane and Lynch came up with where you can kill your partners, but they become opponents then who can hunt you down whi

weird I enjoyed Cataclysm for the storyline and the play factor. The only trouble I had was the HUGE distances between you and the enemy sometime, so I was glad for the time accelerator when moving my fleet or aligning the siege gun. The ship models we're fantastic, when you researched the repair bot upgrade you could see the tiny things flying over the ship and the sparks as they repaired. My only disappointment was I could never finish the last mission no matter how I did it or what guide I us

I am in the middle of my first game of SoaSE and have a question? Once you have researched a tech tree to max, Military Tech say, do you need to keep the labs around? Are the upgrades still dependent on them, or is it a case of 'Once researched always there". Anyone know for sure or tried scuttling labs after they finished researching?
