Wow, that is quite a list! [e digicons]:erk:[/e] This will be a fun weekend, thanks GPG and SD! [e digicons][/e]
Rook- centaur brewmaster
Yes, Centaur Brewmaster just flies off the tongue, doesn't it? And every time I see that castle walking around it makes me think of beer and manhorses... [e digicons];P[/e]
Hehe I just mentioned those 2 guys for kicks, since regulus is so broken with snipe coordination in larger games... We'll join some random 5v5 and party sometime soon, Ke5trel
Yah we'll play soon :) Snipe Coordination is broken, and it will be interesting to test it out in large games anyway. I'm thinking 5 Regs can still lose, if the other team knows what's up and moves early. Regs can kill but they can't really push compared
I havent' been saying much of anything, negative or positive. I've been away from the developement because I've lost interest in the game.
@ Innociv - I totally understand that. I was saying I wished you hadn't lost interest [e digicons]v_v[/e] @ Drexion - Terrain is an engine limitation, you are right. I'm thinking they could use buildings as a workaround. Same for Concealment/Ambush mec
Drexion and Innociv-I am still holding out for an upgradeable item/ability system, terrain elements, concealment, and a responsive interface. Meantime Beta 2 seems to reward some small measure of skill, not just experience. Care to get a game this weekend? In terms of 'Return on Investment' - what continues to give me hope is the high 'Alpha' traditionally generated by Stardock, statements made by Frogboy to the effect th
I wouldn't like to be sniped twise almost instantly either
That was initially what I was planning ^^ At this point the ability has cooled down by the time the item triggers...
Drexion - Jinx has made a bunch of constructive comments on this game, but his implying that the last game made by these devs sucked and so Demigod will too probably wasn't the best quote to highlight that ^^ What I don't really understand is the tendency of some intelligent, sophisticated, and coherent gamers to put a 'disappointed, not going to participate' stamp on a game halfway the Beta process, rather than find ways to improve what disappoints them.
one simple-minded question: if i preorder and download this promising peace of software, can i take part in beta 3?
If you mean Beta 2a coming up tomorrow - if you preorder today you might get in. It doesn't look like the devs had closed Beta 2 as of 1/11. If you actually mean Beta 3 then definitely, as that is a month or so away.
[Previous Build]: "There is a favor item that reduces cooldown on all items and abilities to 0 when used. This could be quite useful, if the cast was not so long. Please lower the cast time on this item to instant or near-instant if you want it to be a viable alternative to other favor items. Raise the item cooldown if necessary to balance this out - right now it just doesn't have tactical applications Thanks, Kestrel" 1/27/09 Edit: So Staff of Renewa
Here's hoping that also means games bigger than 2v2.
That's all I'm looking for. If this bumps us up to 4 v 4 I'll be happy. Thanks for the update
It's a tough one because the demographic is so wide. You are going to get 12 yr old boys who buy into unsophisticated branding, and you are going to get 40 yr old gamers who really don't. The publisher has to bridge that gap somehow. Generally though - have faith in the artwork and the design. A discreet logo watermark, maybe a website reference, sure. If your branding team insists on incorporating the logo, make sure you coordinate it with the artwork in
That quote from the manual does seem to say we won't have inspection. Just to take the derail a bit further, though:
Frogboy: 8. Clicking on an opposing Demigod should show what they are equipped with.
I'm sorta torn. I like having my own build and style, but replays will easily show builds to anyone who wants to look. The question is whether you should have access to that information ingame. Per
I'm not looking for advantages in death at all. I'm simply asking that all of the meaningful data you have no time to look at while alive is available in death. A dead player should under no circumstances be allowed to buy or sell items, gain gold or xp, but I think they should have the chance to plan and study. Currently obtaining info on opponents has not been implemented, but I think it will be. When it is, I'd like to be able to see that info at any ti
I was curious to know what other players considered the point at which momentum in Demigod Beta 2 becomes inevitability. As in, when is it clear that one team will never win? What is the tipping point beyond which victory is certain? I'm still trying to figure it out, because I wanted to say it was capping the enemy's valor flag, but I've seen that go back and forth. I would say capping both of the enemy's portals, but I've not seen that happen before
It's true, they are hard to differentiate once uncloaked. Making the graphic more obvious would be nice.
That's a network code issue, most likely, Maxiking. Hopefully they will be patching the issue this Thursday. If you are still seeing problems after that it might be your net connection. Welcome to Demigod, though [e digicons][/e]
This has been mentioned breifly in several other posts, but I wanted to raise the possibility of a "useful" Death Timer in a seperate thread. Right now the only down time in the game is when you die, and it would be nice if we could use that time to do the following: 1. Analayze your opponent's build, stats, and equipment 2. Analyze your own skilltrees, item choices, and citadel techs 3. Analyze the loadout of your allies
I will be very suprised if the release candidate doesn't have a function that at least allows you to "inspect" other players. I'm going to make a post about this, but it would be nice if things like shop menus and character inspection were available during the death countdown, since you rarely have time to study things while actually playing...
nicely presented, and streamlining several ideas from the massive "Generals" threads in a way that could work well. We really need to get away from the idea that the General gets to sit cozily in the base but still be effective. I agree with Heavenfall that the radius will need tweaking, but it's a minor detail in a good mechanic Abilities and items that affect the "flavor" of the command aura would be cool as well (attack speed, movement speed, armor, etc.) <
Dude, range should totally be scrapped and replaced! I'm amenable to trading in Reg's range upgrades for 1. Oak's never-ending Last Stand 2. Erebus' Vampiric Aura 3. Regulus' Snipe (wait a minute...) 4. A level 80 Rook mount 5. Stackable 70% speed upgrades 6. 48 minions 7. A Space Pony
that was a good game, mcmjon [e digicons][/e]
Dota creeps = DG grunts Early they are for farming, but most games will be won by the team that better/faster 1. Upgrades their grunt variety 2. Upgrades their portal intervals 3. Keeps the enemy gruntstream trimmed back and ineffective
Just a head's up that we are reading through the comments and taking ideas presented here. They may not manifest themselves in the game exactly as mentioned here but I think you'll be able to see how the discussions influenced how generals have been implemented in upcoming builds.
If the stick is wading through 160 odd posts of long eye-bleedingly small text then the carrot is knowing that it makes a difference. Thanks F
Anytime I host a game I usually get a player within 10 minutes. It helps if you go on the Demigod IRC (see sticky) and actively recruit, but you can usually get a game at any time of day if you have a bit of patience. Right now it's only the hardest of the hard playing, as the netcode discourages matches of more than 2 v 2, and even those are finicky. Hopefully Thursday it will be better, as the devs are planning to patch the netcode.
