OK, so let's work with the idea that the Rings are in. It could work, you just need to make a circular and synergistic system that takes it beyond simple RPS. Let's just retro entirely and tier the rings. Three Rings for the <span style="c

I'm not an apologist or a fanboy, and arguments could be made that would back up a case of refunding purchase price on Sins. Just not for Conte. Please understand, Conte, I'm not trying to pick on you, probably only played a couple games with you, but to go back to the car analogy, you are like a guy who has been driving his car around with a big smile on his face for 8 months. Alot of other people bought the same model (500k) but you are probably top
Just to update - holding off on new 1.1 content until 1. I get the hang of the game again [e digicons]:wulf:[/e] 2. We get a sorta final patch 1.12 or 1.13 Rumors of this thread's demise are greatly exaggerated, however, so bring your power strats and builds meantime, and we'll start posting replays once we have a stable replay environment. @ ds12sing - I'll have to try this again once things settle down. I'm not sure it will work a
There are always alternatives to light frigates or Illums to counter grav-runners. TEC and Vasari end-line Heavy Cruiser abilities. Subverter swarms. These are mid-game rather than early and take micro, but they have the advantage of being relevant against *any* other ships your opponent throws at you, once you cripple his carrier fleets.
I'd like to clarify. People are not really cheating. A resource exploit existed in vanilla 1.1 which has since been removed. I played a 1.1 game and the replay revealed that one opposing team member was showing another how to perform the exploit, but the first guy then immediately told the second not to abuse it, and the game was played fairly to completion. In a different community this would have been abused far more than it was, and
Conte.... If that's your nick I'm pretty sure your stats show well over 300 games played on ICO....and that was in June, when last I played you...pretty sure I've seen you on since I got back into it this month... Is the idea that you were only playing those 300+ games while waiting for the patch, and therefore deserve a refund? That's like buying a car, driving it 180,000 miles, and asking for a full refund because it hasn't lived up to expectations. &nb
O no, Anna :o They monitor these forums as well... Get out of your house! Actually, I've always assumed you worked for them too - no mere "human" could have accrued so much karma XD
Yes, I know it's a game and I shouldn't take it seriously, but is it any fun when after playing the game and going through a replay you realize there was no way you could have won anyway? Cheating can't actually be that much fun... I just don't get it I guess.
@ Hack78 - I've had exactly this happen, in SoaSE, and two days later the Devs closed the loophole with 1.11. We should be thankful for responsive devs. Exploits exist i
/TC on Idlebot is NSA. It had it's roots earlier, but in 2003 the DHS began in earnest to tap game chat by proxy, trying to have at least one feed on each large game lobby. Games with realistic FPS or RTS elements were singled out because theoretically 4th world elements could use the chat to send coded messages and the games themselves to practice attacks they would later take to RL. Idlebot is rooted in a network which scans tens of thousands of key words an
My last suggestion is simple. If you're going to make items which work better against certain Demigods, it should also punish the player against everything else. If you get a Ring which allows you boosted damage against Rook, you take a hit in what damage you can do Buildings. If you get a Ring which allows you boosted damage against Unclean Beast, you do reduced damage to Reienforcements. With every plus, there should be a minus, so you don't become to
I'm a big fan of dreadnoughts these days, especially on small maps. You can core the enemy's planet and expand at the same time.
I probably have 2 hours weekend mornings which I can use to play Sins online. It's still fun and possible to play with skill on limited time. The reason I play online instead of against AI is that at some point the AI becomes predictable. People can always surprise you.
See, the trouble is that in this scenario, you're advocating effectively forcing people to play as different Demigods, just because someone else already took that Demigod. That is a sucky, sucky reason to not play your favourite DG.
OTOH, as previously mentioned and both team's skill being equal - a traditionally well-balanced team game will almost always give an advantage to the team that diversifies.
Right now, the tactics to kill other Demigods are the same as killing the reinforcements (creeps). What we want to do is introduce some skill/player experienced based elements that make dealing with opposing Demigods more interesting and more skill based.
OK, thanks for the quick response. I like the idea that tactical skill comes more into play when facing off against other DGs. A few more questions when you have a moment: 1. Does it take str
Frogboy: It sort of depends on how the Rings of Power [ROP] are being implemented. Are they the sort of thing any player could have mid-game? Also, would each ROP be an IWIN button vs. a given DG, or would direct counters exist? Finally, have the devs actually played a build with ROP or is it just a theoretical at this point? Peace
I still think the whole Demigods going shopping thing breaks the game's flavour, and needs a bit of a rethink.

"[SUGGESTION] A compromise: if you introduce such items, make them unique." What if all artifacts were unique? It would bring a long-term useful benefit to controlling the artifact shop flag - get the item you want or deny it to enemies. As it is you just have to make a push in that direction when you have enough gold to buy your artifact, and
The problem was that the refund code was ignoring if the structure was already dead or not so it was possible to refund it over and over again even though you only paid for it once.
The way this worked in practice was chain build/scuttling cap ship factories and getting a ton of credits and resources as a result. Nice to have it fixed :D Now I'm going to have to earn my infinitely stacking PJIs the hard way :P
anyone concentrating on metal first or is crystal still the priority resource?
word from on high (Yarlen, as mentioned in another post): Beta 2 will not be released before Tday...Perhaps my original prediction of December 4th will bear out...
mebbe we should have a "Veteran Hour." If you log on at 10 AM EST on Saturdays (which is when I, for example, can play :P) then there will always be 5 or ten other players who have played a few hundred games, and you will get a game that isn't won or lost before it begins
Build orders suck, etc. They stifle flexibility, yada yada yada. They also give a leg up for players who otherwise wouldn't have a clue until they'd lost 30-50 games online, so all you guys who are sighing about lack of experienced online community chime in and we'll get some good games going.. I've been out of play for a few months, so please offer insight in 1.11. Previous to that here's what we had. A simplified version of the old HuntingX mo
Two sides of this coin: - New players - need to play 10-20 games against good players and actually study the replays from the other guy's perspective. Yes you will get crushed going up against better players, but you will never get better if you are looking for an evenly matched "5 games played" set of teams. Put your ego on hold for a little while, ignore your stats, and learn the game. Then if you want to you can start a new nick when yo
edit: it's been hotfixed, thanks devs :D
in 1.04 I made a game on Maelstrom against five teamed hard AI. It was a while ago, but in broad strokes: I was playing as Vasari, and what I found was that I was able to settle my quadrant without too much trouble early on. That didn't last very long. Pretty soon I had combined fleets of a hundred ships or more slamming toward my border worlds, and the problem with Maelstrom is that there alot of border worlds. It's crazy to have a sc
I am really enjoying my new 4850 as well. It does run hot, but that's what aftermarket fans are for...
