PS, as Vasari against this - my Subverters' distortion field (stun) didn't seem to work too well, even when I got close enough to use it; several guardians seemed unaffected or to shrug off the stun within a second. Anyone else have this experience?

just chiming in :D Retro, Illums are Tech 3 iirc. Amiribiri's technique can be quite effective late-game against traditional HC/support or LRF spamming, as I found to my dismay. Even massing flak doesn't do much good, as your ships are easily scattered and picked off by micro'd repulsion. It's debatable that it would be as strong after guardian/repulse gets hit with a nerf, but on the other hand strikecraft will probably have gotten an upgrade in the same patch.<br

Raging Amish, This is a helpful post. A small point - Sova Rapid Manufacturing - my understanding of rapid manufacturing is that it only applies to strikecraft that belong to the Sova, and has no aura effect at all for planetary production. (i.e. Sova can instantly replace its destroyed fighter squadrons). If it actually works as you say then I'm going to be investing in Sovas for more than nubstomp embargo rushes, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't... Also might be wo

Haeso, I respect your skill, as well as the time and effort you have put into this game. Having said that, however, the bitterness of this post and certain replies I've seen you make lately to other posts do you no credit. You feel that Sins has lost its appeal, that Ironclad Online is dying, that the devs haven't given heed to basic issues like balance and modding. I think your concerns are valid, for the most part, and I think the nine-member team at Ironclad is working

ArtificerProdigy, Interesting point. On maps large enough to accept their research and build costs but small enough to allow defensive fleets to respond in time I could see PJIs being very strong. Note that they will do you no good if you spent all of your starting resources on them and have nothing to counter a big offensive with. Build and augment your fleet and empire first, always. One failure in defensive strategies with multiplay Sins as I've seen it so far is that y

Slightly offtopic but amazing: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/?p=1313 Truly sweet article, but the comments are what make it gold... NC2SC2! For the record, the article is about DoW, and of course doesn't apply to Soase, which we all know rocks..

I edited the post to moderate the statement, as I have seen determined pairs of cobalts take down a scout even when it's boomeranging between worlds, but only seen a couple of hangars work to destroy scouts in conjunction with a jump inhibitor, and only against the

Hi Ultimate. Welcome to the game :D At this point it isn't possible to watch a game in progress without entering as a player and then surrendering. Unless you are refereeing tournament play this can be more trouble than it's worth (especially for your teammates:P). The alternative is watching replays of games that have already occurred, which should suit your purposes. I've posted several replays at https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308726 which you can watch ingame. If you need tips on

Hi Redwing. I've posted a number of 1.04 replays from different players (including high-level clans) at https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308726. Feel free to leave feedback, ask questions, or add some replays of your own.

@ Amirabiri #30: Thanks for the additional input. I've edited in a section on intelligence under viable strategies which points to your reply. Something I added was counter-intelligence, which is very important but has been largely ignored in the games I've seen. Killing your opponent's eyes in the field, especially in a medium-large game, seems worth the otherwise fairly useless investment in carriers or hangar defense/PJIs. Thoughts? Any replays showing masterful reco

Edit: added Sova counter replay (Thanks Ataraxia). worth watching just to see how effectively the dreadnought dismantles Chrusher's homeworld, while the carrier barely scratches MonaLisaOverdrive's. Choose your cap carefully, kids.

@ Arktouros #26: I'd also be interested in seeing that replay. If you'd like, post it on the strat thread: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308726, and I'll include it in replay section for Guardians with thanks.

Edit: posted replays under Sova Rush and HC Spam. Note effective use of Demo Scouts in Sova replay. HC spam replay also has good use of subverters and guardians. Both courtesy of ArtificerProdigy, so thanks a bunch :D Keep them coming, guys, if you don't know how to post replays PM me, because the more we have the better this thread will get and the more we will learn. Thanks Kestrel

@ liatania #19 - I get the impression that you are looking at very large or very slow games when talking about booming to superweapons, as they are prohibitively expensive to research and build. In my multiplay experience with small and medium maps superweapons are largely ignored in favor of other units. Have you seen them used effectively under these circumstances? Econ booming to the big guns is theoretically viable, and would be happy to add it to OP as a strategy if anyone coul

@ eregnj # 18 - I agree, late game Advent really shines in 1.04. A fully specced and maxed out Advent fleet is a beautiful thing, and when used strategically can defeat significantly larger armadas with a very high kill-to-loss ratio. Generally speaking, Advent fleet support is very well implemented. TEC fleet support is pretty weak, at the moment, and to have efficient support a TEC player must field a far larger proportion of support cruisers, which have no area-of-effect debuffs,

@ Kidcase: A couple of thoughts on countering late-game RA as TEC - If your opponent already has RA up and producing large (at least 5 phase gates, usually more like 10) then your choices are limited. If you fill your civil tech tree you can actually produce ships faster than RA, but you are limited by economy, however massive. Your opponent has no such limitations. If your opponent is not supplementing his RA fleet of attack ships with support (namely subverters) then a

I'm hoping that we can get enough replays to make this thread pinworthy, so if you've recently played a game that really highlights a category in the original post (on your side or your opponent's) or even roughly points to a new set of strategies please bring it on. Don't be discourage if someone has already posted a game using your method, either. Multiple replays of the same maneuver are important, because if it works across play styles and games it isn't a fluke. (

Edit: Addition of Index, Map Composition (per Therlun), and Defense Sections; Replays. Cleaned up format and made easier to track topics. Thanks to Clan X for the replays, feel free to add additional insight. @ Kidcase, #9: HuntingX has posted a decent Advent build order here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/303701 Additionally, the X vs GE replay above has good high-level Advent play. @ bdwho, # 10: Thanks :) KK, gonna go play now :D

Thanks, guys...I've posted Silent's replay and will grab some of yours today, Hunting. @Therlun: I agree, there are huge strategic and tactical differences in game types to be covered. I'll see about putting something together, but if you have thoughts in that direction feel free to reply either in thread or by PM, and I'll edit in (with credit, of course)
