a long time ago i came across the code for embedding windows media player into a website's page...but i think there were issues with determining the way it ran, based on housing the .exe on the server hosting the site, or assuming everyone has wmp...try searching dogpile or google or something, depending on the wording of your question hope this helps!

Hey Mike, sorry it took me so long to get back here...I wasn't around a computer much this weekend, and almost forgot this thread. Nice site. I think I saw a plug on the frontpage of this place a while back...just didn't put two and two togther that it was yours. Looks great!

oh, and if it does have options, preferenses, etc., see if there is a listing there for changing the theme, or skin, or something along that terminology... also, might not be a skinnable icq client. i don't know if they are all skinnable or not. what are you using, exactly? we can check their website to see if nothing else works...

hmm...i don't use icq, but most apps seem to have a similar basic theme for changing skins. is there an "Options" or "Tools" or "Skins" or "Preferences" item you can click on and modify? Or, if you have icq open, does it have an option to get new skins (might be worded differently, but the same basic idea)? If it has the latter, you can grab whatever they have available, and when it downloads, see where it loads to and then try hacking through the software (.ini files?) to see how it calls and r

and if you want to get into doing s ome hefty css coding(which is nothing compared to hard coding a website) try Top Style Lite (freeware - the lite version. buy pro if you like it enough!) at http://www.bradsoft.com/topstyle/download/litedload.asp this tool makes the creation much easier, and displays your changes as you make them...takes a little getting used to, though, like everything else in life. enjoy!

actually, i have been wanting to figure out how to skin a website too...the closest i have found so far is by using style sheets that are fairly predefined, but you make each a set, and let the user pick a set...see project seven's website at http://www.projectseven.com/magic/downloads/proj1sample.pdf chapter one pretty much covers it, but it isn't exactly what i was looking for in the long term... might get you started though, as far as an interactive skinning capability for your

heh...i also thought you had to hold all three down to get it to display. i think i am reading too fast and skipping words...what a day. good thing it is friday and i can get away from work for a few days...sheesh... btw, i work with a bunch of tech writers(although i am not one), and I have to say, your documentation is great! nice work...

you know, the autohide YOU implemented is a heck of a lot more feasible than the microsoft interpretation of what autohide should do. i like yours better, especially with transparency. too bad it can't be transparent to whatever you set it to and then become more tangible on mouseover, or vice-versa, kind of like startbarfader: http://www.customize.org/details/14909?box=skinmenu&state=close

hey xym...your app is the best i have seen yet! just grabbed it a half-hour ago. elite work on sysmetrix. it's probably me, but when i click on auto-hide and mouse off, it is visible, when i mouse over, it is not visible, which makes it hard to right-click and change the settings since i have to have the visible there to right-click. i think i screwed some setting up, so i uninstalled and reinstalled and am working through it now... awesome app and great skins!

grayhaze...if you are still around - a thought... why don't you post your semi-finished works here and see what they spawn? (leave a note in a txt file allowing others to "rip it, sort of) maybe it'll frustrate you enough that you come back to fix all the hacked skins based off of your incomplete originals? Just a thought that might inspire you to get back soon, like kicking yourself in the butt (which I am VERRRRRRY good at, right along with sticking my foot/feet in my mouth and head u

tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... tutorials, tutorials, tutorials... It's how I learned photoshop back at 4.0, and I still suck and learn new things about even the older versions (5.0 to 7.0) every day, and since I only have access to it at work, my learning curve is steeper because I can't

i am currently trying to figure out beatnik too... I believe you have to create the graphics for all of the instances and the background, and then in the skin thingy you get to apply each per setting...or something like that. still trying to get the creative juices going on my end....

you know...you could follow in microsoft's footsteps (with a twist) and have a strict activation code, where you monitor all activation accounts and serial numbers (I don't know what you use now, never bought any software from ya'll, sorry to admit that)...anyways, when they go for the upgrade, have it verify the old serial number and have a database query who the number was issued to and when, among other things (ip address, os, etc...there is a ton of data you can pull from a standard install,
