Quoting ZeratulTheDT, reply 161Eh, I could play through the entire single player of ETW on release with little difficulty. Obviously, that is just my experience. Also, ETW is a lot prettier than this game, and had a much more cohesive and useful veterancy system (see my post above regarding sovereign veterancy). Additionally upon release ETW's multiplayer was functional, so IMHO it wasn't "way buggier" than this game.

I hate to say this, but I agree 100% with PCGamer. Let me preface this by saying I love Stardock and REALLY wanted to like this game. As a long time beta tester and gamer (over ten years with each) it's pretty clear that this game was not ready for its release. You can't release a title with disabled online multiplayer and buggy single player and expect favorable reviews. In the campaign, I'm currently trapped in Act 6, looking for a survivor who (I think) is in a desert nowhere to be
It's not even just that the AI rushes the citadel. A big part of the problem is that any half-skilled person can quite literally farm the AI for gold and XP, and there's very little you can do about it. It's about as intelligent as a retarded cockroach. And what this means is that any time anyone leaves for any reason, the game is OVER for that ENTIRE TEAM. Completely unacceptable.
I'm sure this has probably been mentioned before, but I figure I'll add my voice to the crowd. I know it's release day and we're still in the "30 day beta" portion of retail, but I'd just like to say that the MP needs fixing immediately. Currently, any time there's anyone with a bad connection in a Pantheon game they get replaced with an extremely stupid AI that the other players eat for breakfast (literally). Also, this is a griefer and quitter's paradise, as they can leave o
Hey all, This is a question, not a statement. I've been playing around with starbases recently (particularly the Vasari one) and I'm on the fence about whether it's worth getting their economic upgrades or not. Here's why: I had an upgraded trade network that generated about 60 credits a second easily. I then decided to try out starbases as an economic force, and put one in each system with *only* economic upgrades. I was playing against an easy AI, which never
Alright, thanks for the tips. I used to play a lot of Sins about a year ago (or more) when HCs were the sh*t and what you went for every game if you were playing seriously. I just came back to playing Sins three days ago. Clearly, that has changed. What is the best new strategy for Vasari in this game? Should I just go for a balanced mix of units, like HCs + flak + scouts, or is there a better general plan to go for now? And yeah, it definitely felt like I was busting my
Ah, I guess my mistake then was not using a scout - I know for a fact that when my units attacked in the gravity well he was building a starbase in the mines detonated pretty damn fast, not 30 seconds like they're saying. I suppose that was because the mines were cloaked or something though, not because he deployed them immediately and then they detonated like I thought. And I must admit, I was pretty pissed. I didn't care at all about the starbases which is why I didn't mention them.
No, the mines detonated about 3 seconds after the mine-layer laid them. My ships were still turning around when the mines blew up and killed them all. I suggest having a "construction time" of 30 seconds, where the minelayer sits helpless and immobile while the mines are being constructed. If the minelayer dies while the mines are building, the mines naturally don't show up. Even with the supposed 30 second detonation time, they could still be used to force ships out of positi
Hello, I just played a game online and find mine abuse to be a ridiculous way to win games. Just to start off, I'm fine with people using mines defensively. That is totally ok with me, I love mines as a defensive tool. I DO however have a problem with sending mine laying ships on suicide runs that blow up my entire fleet in three shots. Here's what happened... I was Vasari in a 2v2, and was teching normally, expanding and doing what I normally do. I fast teched
Yeah, I'm not clear on the Favor system at all. My friend, who's played at least 20 games, received 175 favor at the start of the game. I, who have only played 3 games since the update, received 200 (we both erased our profiles.) It'd be nice if there was some kind of in-game description of the Favor system in the options. Or some way to track it and know what the heck is going on with it. Without that I have no idea how the Favor system works, which isn't good.
Hey all, I don't know if this is deliberate or not but Sedna's Pounce ability doesn't interrupt teleportation. Also, I've rarely seen it interrupt any other spells or abilities, but that's likely because they all cast pretty fast and it's hard to time. I think Pounce should interrupt teleportation, as it has a "cast time" and thus interruption is implied by the description of the ability.
Is this in the beta right now? If so, how do I buy achievement items!?!?!? Never even saw an option or a reference to it... Thanks
Bite does a debuff on the target, check the in-game skill. And the reason you should be using fireball is in that time, instead of you moving, you can get that cast off and let your enemy move instead.
True, but this is a pretty negligible reason to dump 5 points into a skill. It basically gives you an extra "hit" in ranged attacks - hardly worth the investment once you're in the super late game. I definitely think a
I'd love to try. I'm pretty free til' mid january as my college semester ended a week ago (WOOT!!!) I'll check back occasionally to see if you have a date and time. Just make sure to say it in advance.
Actually, I'm pretty all bite does is 500/500. And on the 2-3 seconds you spend casting fireball, you can get twice as close to the enemy as you were, negating the "ranged" advantage. Besides, the radius is pretty small for it anyway.
That's actually quite wrong and highly illogical. Explain to me the use of a fireball that does 1,000 damage when you're doing 1200 DPS? Or tell me the use of bite (500 hp dmg 500 hp heal) when you're doing 1,000 DPS with 15%-25% life steal? There's no "timing" involved. Sure, for AoE spells that may be true but any single target damage spell becomes useless in the late game.
Yes, it's a good idea.
We controlled the flags, but the enemy team kept trying to get em' back and failing. And good point about the fact that he was new.
I think that's due more to engine limitations in DOTA than actual gameplay choices. No one wants to do the same thing with every hero, which is what is happening here in the late game.
All of these things are necessary to win the game, and I certainly did them as much as the enemy did. It's not like I just tower rushed into a win, the game lasted for over half an hour and went back and forth pretty evenly, with both sides using decent teamwork. But ok, whatever
But, if I lead my team to victory, aren't I by definition doing more than the enemy team? :)
I agree with most of what you said, but feel that you should mention in the late game all of the damage spells go from 5/5 to 1/5. 1000 damage may be awesome the first 30 seconds you get fireball, but 10 minutes later it's not so good. Same with bite and all other abilities not based off a % of the hero.
I don't think this game needs to be slowed down any more, which decreasing the gold rate would do.
I'm cool with it if they get, for example, the same favor as I do or even a little bit more because they specifically went after achievements. But 3 times more after losing the game? Plus, I killed their heroes pretty frequently, and controlled the map for 90% of the game. Add to that the fact that one of the guys was new, and didn't even know what an achievement WAS... Something's definitely messed up.
