I've installed Impulse, I didn't particularly want to and didn't feel I wanted the tool but it's a very small price to pay for the best post release support I've seen outside of paying a monthly fee. It was my choice to install it and it's not a big ask either. Don't like it? Then for gods sake stop boring the rest of us with the tin foil hat ranting.

Blizzard has never let me down, not one game they have released has dissapointed me. I remember watching D2 before release and thinking this is going to be rubish, same old. How wrong I was. The only reason I hate WoW now is because I played it way too much, it was the best MMO I ever got in to even though I prefer other MMOs atm. As for Blizzard coming up with new ideas? They never have, they just do previously done genres in a completely polished and superb way in my experience.

Some ideas of how I would expand the game as a game developer: 1) New races, you know this just as well as I do that the basis of any great expansion brings in a new way to play the game, I hardly need to say this. 2) Flesh out diplomacy (with many suggestions received already). First and foremost though I think that it would be nice to add more character to the diplomacy screen. It would be a lot of fun to see some (very short) FMV of the fleet commanders asking you to perfo

Can someone help me with the implications of this? Bioshock was a game I avoided buying because of all the negative buzz from the DRM used, the same reason I won't be buying Spore unless I know my fears are unfounded or things change. There's plenty of games out there that I can be picky about games that run with this kind of restrictive activation system. But Bioshock is like £12 in some shops now and it got good reviews so... So what does this mean if I buy Bioshock now? The Se

I'm also a single player player because I don't play this enough to get competitive in multiplayer but I can live without a campaign personally. It may well add a new experience but the things I'd most like to see is extra races, add events, expand the diplomacy, extra planet types, moons, configurable ships etc. Expanding the scope of the game and the options available to our strategy will bring me much more enjoyment than a story driven campaign. That being said I'd still get enjoyment i
@OP , for the novalith , most tend to manually cast it , simply because the picking of a target is such an important event , they like to be the one who presses the button. So I doubt many are going to bother with this complaint.
I never mentioned the Novalith :D I'm pretty sure most would agree with me about not wanting to micro the Seige Platform though, in big games I'd rather just be able to leave my Vulkoras to Seige at full capacity while I maintain other fleets
where the AI sends one or two seige units to some back-ass sector, I'll load up on bombers.
Fighters are a lot better vs Seige frigates by the way. Fighters are extra poo vs pirates though cause of the amount of flak they bring. The best way to deal with AI Seige frigates and pirate seige is a few well places turrets covering where you think the AI would seige from, they are super scared of turrets and don't know how to avoid them. If they get brave then the turrets do

Also to help remind you, if you hover your mouse over the Capital Ships in the build screen it lists it's trainable skills in the ship info panel that comes up in case you're not totally sure which one.
pssssssst...next patch is 1.1
Check this thread mate: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/311235"]1.1 preview??[/link] Unless they have announced different, they plan to release a 1.041 hotfix to fix several bugs including some mini dump causing bugs which should arrive in the very near future.

I'd be interested in the idea but like Nightraid3r says we are unlikely to finish the game as it currently is, perhaps wait for the next patch or even 1.1?
We could also add, a selcet all ships of the same type, to the fleet AI. That way, you don't have to go to each ship in that fleet, and turn off the same auto cast, for the same type of ship, for the entire fleet.
Try holding alt and click a ship.

Noticed a couple of bugs while playing recently, can't find a list of known bugs or reference to them elsewhere so thought I would mention them. 1) Mass Transcendence, I've noticed that the tooltip says that the experience gain stops at level 2 however this isn't quite true. Currently the passive experience gain carries on at any level but the ships simply don't level up when they get enough xp to. So I've witnessed my entire fleet level up on the first ship kill because t

The Vulkoras Desolator is probably my favourite, nice look to it and also pretty menacing unit once you get the phase missile tech up. I love the look of most of the Vasari except the space whale.

All races have most things simlar, such as each one has the same kinds of frigates, and even the same roles to their cap ships but they have different names/looks and ways of fullfilling that role. The biggest difference that becomes obvious is that it is mainly the tech trees and their differences that define the races. TEC Easiest to get a high credit income established, TEC are frequent users of the black market to make up for their lack of ability to resource crystal. Lots of
If a game's copy protection has the effect of making my ownership temporary, ie limited installs/activations and the like, then it is effectively a rental, not a purchase. In that case, I will pay exactly what I would pay to rent a game, and nothing more.
Agree with that. Is this new DRM system going to mean less piracy and therefore they can reduce the price based on the supposed millions they lose from piracy not being an issue? This system wont reduce piracy, it w

Ahh that explains the insta death of the AI fleet, I can imagine players crying themselves to sleep about that sort of thing happening in multiplayer :) Thanks for pointing it out to be a known issue, hopefully 1.1 will see a fix.

Before we start, for relevance I have a Dell XPS gaming laptop with 8800s in SLi Yesterday I was playing Advent vs Advent Hard AI as I haven't really tried Advent before so wanted to ease myself in to it. For practice I had built one of every cap ship and each one was level 6+, I also had almost a maxed out (level 3 fleet upgrade) fleet of illums and crusaders with a small compliment of defence ships. The AI was amassing a fleet just the other side of the phase line to whe

I'm sure there are many like me who rarely get open windows for games let alone a window large enough to play a full Sins game online. Add that to the fact that my lack of practice would mean I would get rolled over by anyone with an ounce of competitive nature. I'll only ever play this game single player.
