For the original poster in case you are not aware you can scuttle any ship or structure by selecting the ship/structure and then clicking the yellow and black stripe button that is in the very center of the very bottom of your screen just below the picture part of the interface. You will get back some fraction of the resource cost, improved by some vasari tech.
Name one good, well-supported RTS EA have made. Generals and the BFME games were buggy, very poorly balanced, and featured rush, rush, RUSH HARDER DAMN IT 'gameplay'. Can't speak for C&C 3, but everything I've heard about suggests it wasn't well received either. They all got little in the way patch support to try and fix any of their problems. This combined with the intrusive DRM is why I will not even consider RA
Sorry for OT but this thread has completely derailed. Why do people care so passionately about 5 activation limit? Yeah ok so it's worse than unlimited but how many legitimate customers is this going to affect really? You can uninstall the game and reinstall the game later and you still have only used 1 activation. You can install this on a work PC and a home PC and still be able to change your PC 3 times before you need to contact EA. I change my PC at most
There is no pause to give orders, it's all real time in that respect but the speed fleets move and the fact you don't actually need to micro them when in combat if you don't mind being 100% efficient in battle means nothing feels like you are being too slow. Letting AI fight your battles probably means you are at 80% efficiency vs another AI. Vs another player not microing is probably death but you and I don't care for that. Good scouting and prediction is more important th
I'm not a games developer, I'm a real time embedded and also C# developer. Conceptually though if I was to design a game there are a few ways I could take advantage of multi core processors. Like you say 1 way is for the AI to be continually assessing it's situation and updating behaviours in a background thread. This could potentially be more than 1 thread. An imediate or combat AI for enemies in the vicinity who would have more advanced senses and behav
Don't worry if you don't like multiplayer, I enjoy this game and I play single player 100%. There is one victory goal, although you can win by making allies with 1 or 2 AI's also. I would describe this game as feeling like an RTS that has you controlling massive amounts of units, however the AI does a good job without you at microing abilities and fighting so the micro management, although helpful, isn't anywhere near as important as other RTS. The fact that it is a
What I hope is that Phase Inhibitors and Planet Bombardment protection technology research will give Starbases that tech built in. Still, speculating is really a bit pointless, we will have to wait and see what role these Starbases will play. Like everyone else though, I'm hoping they do actually come in to play and not just when you are mopping up, otherwise what's the point...?
Thanks for the info Kyro and that's a fair point. I stopped playing RTS online not with friends a long while ago so I guess I wont pick up SupCom gold edition now but cheers for the info.
That's what I had hoped. I was aware the Sins development team was a seperate team but I had also understood that you had an influence over it's development. I have a 10% discount voucher with Impulse and was pondering pre-purchasing a game in it's early stages as the coupon will run out before the release. Stardock's influence inspires a lot of confidence. Which leads me to another question; if my pre-purchase allows me to try the beta does that mean a refund i
In what manner do they work together? Do they pool resources like staff and code? What relationship does Stardock have with development of the game? I never bought SupCom. Is the AI good in that game? Is it a major click fest like the current C&C games or is it a little more relaxed on clicking like Sins?
I noticed on Impulse it said the developer for Demigod was Gas Powered Games. I had just assumed it was the same developer as Sins or Gal Civ 2 as it was a Stardock product but I realised this was not the case. When I looked up Gas Powered Games they also developed Dungeon Seige, Space Seige and Supreme Commander. So am I correct this is the same developer of the other games? When did Gas Powered Games become affiliated with Stardock? As Dungeon Seige wa
I play Vasari a lot and I rarely ever use the Marauder but I agree Vasari is probably your best bet for that kind of style mainly because of their mobility around their own territory, with a little bit of scouting you can see where to hit and get there fast with your fleets. and as long as you don't attack too far in to enemy territory you are never too many jumps away from defending with your attacking fleet when you have phase gate tech up.
Hi Solam. I have a Dell laptop with Vista and this is how I would do it so it should work for you. Right click your desktop and click Personalize (Was Display Properties in XP days). Now select Screen Saver. At the bottom of this new window should be a Power management section, select 'Change power settings..'. Now you will have some power setting plans that come with your laptop. You can go straight here from Power Options in control panel btw.&nbs
I've never read such a load of shit in all my life. Seriously. If in game advertising eventually brings down the price of games or we see better quality games for it then by all means, see if I care, I don't go boycotting websites that use advertising that isn't obstructive. Uranium - 235 I get the feeling I
For those who are interested Relic FINALLY released the patch to Soulstorm that seems to have fixed the game breaking bugs it was sold with. It's probably the worst bit of game support I have ever seen from a big name but at least it arrived in the end with a ton of fixes. General Fixes Fixed Sisters of Battle Holy Icon resource bug. Fixed Dark Eldar Observer Soul Powers bug. Fixed Eldar Harlequin's Dance of Death ability tha
It's on a different scale than you are used to but have you had a look at Laser Squad Nemesis? Not sure what state that is in these days though. http://www.lasersquadnemesis.com/ Oh and another up and coming is Blood Bowl by the makers of the (not coincidently) similar Chaos League! :D http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/ Not turn based but slow paced is Settlers 2 10th Anniversary Edi
Left 4 Dead looks absolutely my cup of tea, can't wait to get some of my online buddied together for some games of that, gonna be hilarious fun. Farcry 2 looks like it's enjoying some good reviews but what is it bringing to the table that hasn't been done before? I might end up getting Farcry 2 but I'm not sure why I would want to get it over Crysis Warhead.
Yep, been a long standing problem. I always get the siege platform last because you have to micro manage it. Shame, because the platforms are quite powerful.
I've not tried this so I'm just giving you an idea. How about starting up a game with unlocked teams and each on different teams. Keep restarting until you and your friend are next to each other then ally straight away? You would probably need to do more than 2 AIs to make it a challenge as they will have a bit of in fighting aswell but it's a way to get the game experience you are after. In multiplayer you can do the same thing if you aren't using predefined maps but
@ Aotrs Commander He means use a proxy server to make impulse think you are in America. It's probably not entirely legal because the correct taxes aren't being paid, not that anyone would care enough at that price. I just don't know where I would find a proxy to do that and I'll not spend any time doing so for a mi
I have no idea how I might find a proxy to do that and I don't know anyone in the US. I'm refusing to buy the inflated price Entrenchment because the bits have to travel accross the Atlantic. Whatever the excuses may be, it's injust and a shame because I was able to buy Sins at the same price as Americans could. For the same reason I refuse to buy stuff from direct2drive.co.uk because they are rip off prices, I'd rather order from play.com and wait a few days. I
*Sigh* Single player SoaSE is just as valid as multi-player SoaSE.
Just ignore him? Who cares what he thinks is the real Sins game? Doesn't even deserve a response. On topic; as a single player Sins player I've found the beta versions to be extremely stable and a better version of the game than 1.05, fill yer boots.
I would suggest the following ideas to add fun to the Sins experience: Diplomacy is a nuisance more than anything. I think a more fluid system that is going up or down based on who is enmies with who. Like if I go lay waste to a fleet of one Vasari AI another Advent AI that hates that particular Vasari AI improves standing, not only if I specifically kill 5 civil structures (and not only 4 structures cause that would make them hate you!). How about trading as part of
I was under the impression that the latest service pack for Vista 32 allowed the OS to fully utilise my 4GB of RAM, I am wrong I take it?
I say serves EA right, I think Spore will be the last game I will ever purchase from them, the main reason I got it was because the gf likes the creature creator and figured there'd be a decent game behind it all (boy was I wrong there ) .
Agree, same here and agree. Although Warhammer Online is EA and I'm enjoying that immensely.
