Considering the one game I've played with huntingx, his micro was woeful, his build order was slow, he's nothing special. It took the two of them (Astax/huntingx) about thirty minutes to take me out, and my damage taken/dealt ratio was still higher they only beat me because of numbers. I'll take any of you in a best out of 3, and I'm not downloading MIRC just for a contest that won't even be one. If you want to play me talk to me on Ironclad when we're both on. I have nothing to prove t

Rofl, I know exactly how flak work. And I know that they do not counter illums. Care to play a game? When you lose maybe some of your arrogance will disappear? And they're not biased at all. I've played every race 50+ times in mp over my accounts, I know the strengths and weaknesses of each, and I know how to micro them.
Redmaw, I want advent to be unique, but you have to realize especially in a team game you can protect capital ships quite well. Not to mention having one player go radiance one go mothership is also very effective. My problem though is that it forces the entire team to go military and kill those capitals or lose late game regardless of econ/techs. Which -is- a problem. And I say again, Malice is fine. It's brilliance working with it that is the problem right now. And I do not w
[quote]Flak costs half as much as illums.. counters them fine.Christ. You're totally forgetting that Illums cost 380/60/55. Javs are only 275/45/25.I'm sorry you lost, but in these cases it's not the games fault. And like TheRedMaw said, the biggest issues are how LRM and Heavy Cruisers are the only important things(With the exception of overpowered distortion field[needs to effect max of 7 or 8 targets], and repulsion[works improperly with it's am drain and pulsed pushing. Shouldn't work agai
[quote]I'd say assailants get demolished by illuminators now... Its very tough to win if you have assailants vs illuminators. But then again, assailants have a tough time against LRM too and are only tech 1 . All on a cost vs cost basis of course. I'd say LRM vs illuminators is much much closer, frankly not sure who would win that cost for cost in equally skilled hands. It *should* be the illuminators on a cost-vs-cost given its higher technology level and the fact that TEC economy *is* better.P
Fail, and RA only works on massive maps or against players that aren't aggressive enough, it's pretty much fine. Though I wish it didn't exist at all. And the skirmisher is fine, reintegration is incredible.
Random is fine third, but imbalanced is not. I don't want a Separate ladder where our games are decided by skill with the totally random fluke of a shitty starting location costing me a game. Untill we have scripting to do what I mentioned, random elements should be avoided by competitive gaming entirely. We must keep games even with each team having an equal chance of winning, with the only factors deciding a win being Race selection (I wish this was not a factor, but it always will be
btw, Mediafire.com > rapidshare, by far. Unlimited, no hassle at all. I use it for hosting maps/replays. Replays of me against Innocivx, good games both of them. If innociv wants to break the games down he can or I'll come back later tonight and do it. I won both games, but he played well and used an interesting tactic in the first, pretty standard in the second. Essentially went radiance to counter sova, but I never built one the second game :p GG to innociv, were fun games, tonigh
No actually, I follow the trend of what's most powerful and use it. I just recently got around to trying advent in 1.04, and it was just a little silly how effective illums were. Also, another thing that should be looked into, and I'm sure it already is. Embargo, I'm guilty of using it countless times, it's absurdly powerful. 2-3 jumps apart and it's almost unbeatable. I appreciate the insightful and clearly well thought out bump for my thread though, sarcasm or not. A
So as you all know, the 1.04 patch for sins is out, I'm sure most of you have played it. Please note: I'm not bashing the game, I just see these as important balance concerns. First concern: Illuminators, clearly right now they are overpowered. It shouldn't have to be explained, but on the off chance it does. Even at t3 and a higher cost. For the same cost and fleet supply as lrms, if the TEC player has twice as much of these two resources
was a fun game man, hard to fight brill/malice though. Have to do it again some time, think I'll be playing advent more up till they hit the illum with the nerf bat like it needs it. I really think brill/malice is a little broken and shouldn't work together, but the devs seem to like it, it's been there since retail and probably a good portion of beta.
Play me 1v1, or me and eets 2v2 if you want a real game. Though as of now, I really feel advent to be too powerful. Flak doesn't counter Illums well enough to justify them anymore. Which means the only counter is carriers, which only counter pure Illums, 1-5 flak/illum ratio beats carriers easy. I just went through a game earlier tonight, making nothing but illums to see how effective it is post 1.04, and I must say. I was floored. If you thought LRM spam was bad before, watch out =). <
I really like random elements, I don't want a perfect build order for a map, but it absolutely must be equal for each team if you're being competitive. I cannot stress that enough. If I knew how to mod it to assign a predetermined amount of resource asteroids to each planet I'd do that too. So give me scripting, or no random.
Adaption my ass. You adapt to starting with an ice planet and a volc planet near your homeworld while your opponents gets asteroids. Untill there is a way to script which planets spawn based on which planets spawn somewhere else, random is garbage. I'd love to have a map that changes each time you play it. But it has to be even. If there becomes a way to randomly spawn planets, then have the same planets for the other team, that'd work but as of now there is only a "ra

First off, I won't play a random map, FFAs, or 3+ teams. I'm not here to be a diplomat, I want to win by skill, not by making friends. If people really want to, good for them, but I wouldn't participate. 1v1 Close encounters is good. I'll look for others. 2v2 I haven't done many 2v2s to have an opinon. 3v3 Razor's edge is the staple, it has rushing, it gives at least one player time to build up. It's defensible, without being too easy to turtle since it's small.
GE can easily field a team or individuals as need be for any sort of tourney. Would be nice to get actual sponsors and play for money, or just bragging rights so to speak.
Are you... complaining about SC being the best RTS game ever made godivos? If it wasn't for SC I simply can't imagine where the genre would be right now. If anywhere That said it's a different game, but I'll probably switch over to it rather than keep playing sins like I do.
[quote]I'm quoting Carbon016 from another thread:I think it was Frogboy that posted on the IGN blog that "A counter strategy should never be more complicated than the original strategy". He also said that "For those people who think building 10 of the same unit and swarming a player’s base in the first 10 minutes of the game is a strategy, Sins of a Solar Empire is going to be a rude awakening."That is quite the irony. Due to the black market change, the only viable strategy vs TEC trade port s
DOS has been owning this forum for a while now, it's making it irritating to keep my thread bumped. :(
Mediafire does own, and hunting, I don't agree with a lot of what you say. But I must say, sorry you wrote all this up when it's essentially worthless with the patch lol

[quote]I just want to say, the reason I posted is that I care about this game as well, and don't want to see the community split into two camps at war with each other as one sees in so many other games. Believe it or not, I do respect what you are saying, based on how much you play the game. I'd just like the competitive crowd to be a little less elitist and a little more diplomatic. If you think you know the game better than anyone, alright then. You may even be right. Don't rub it in the
[quote]I hope you weren't referring to me when you said "Wow less dps/cost, because those are the only two factors in deciding what an effective counter is"No they don't really tank HC's easily. But everything but HC's, yes, they tank pretty good.Enforcers do 25dps against them. Wow less dps/cost, because those are the only two factors in deciding what an effective counter is, nevermind the damage taken is less, nevermind that they have more health to begin with by far, never mind that the ratio flak kills LRMs puts them well above scouts in cost effective scenarios, never mind that with any sort of micro flak become even better than scouts which can still be one-volleyed by most lrm spams. Whereas flak cannot. And honestly yea inno, I'd go so far as to say the
